  • Building an EV company isn’t easy. For context, assembling battery packs requires companies to adhere to manufacturing standards even higher than 6 Sigma. But that's not all; it also involves sourcing resources like lithium and cobalt, developing charging infrastructure, addressing range anxiety, and much more.
In this episode, we delve into the world of electric vehicles with industry pioneer Chetan Maini from Sun Mobility, whose inspiration came from his university days racing an EV across Australia in the 1990s, leading to the inception of Reva. Now at Sun Mobility, Chetan is all in for battery swapping. Tarun Mehta of Ather has a 1000-member R&D team, the largest for two-wheelers in the world. Punit Goyal of BluSmart, who has an illustrious career in the renewable energy space, studied renewable energy in the UK to revolutionize ride-hailing with BluSmart, and Suruchi Rao of Ossus Biorenewables shares her insights on climate change and green hydrogen.
Join us as we navigate through these diverse perspectives and innovations shaping the future of electric vehicles.

She is not doing anything complex. She makes hydrogen and supplied to oil industry. Her entire business is from oil business Ambani refinery, Indianoil, BP, ONGC etc. Hydrogen has no chance against EV. But in the hydrogen supply chain petrol pumps, refinery like Ambani and govt's also get to have a share and make money. In EV, Ambani and govt. refinery oil industry have no money to make. It is as simple as that. The Ather guy debunked her by saying the hydrogen has no efficient mobility usecase and everyone knows that, but the govt is still pushing for hydrogen because the govt's "consultants" are interested in the hydrogen. Why? because with hydrogen cars/ bikes there is money for refineries oil businesses to still make money in future. The consultants are lobbies representing Ambani, IndianOil, BP, HPCL, petrol pumps mafia etc. and they want to push for hydrogen as alternative to EV/ future fuel.

2:23 thanks Tarun for saving the poor guy from intruding personal questions. You are an empathetic person. We Indians really have to stop our habit of probing people who are introvert or modest or being humble. I used to be like that bluesmart guy, getting more and more awkward with such BS questions...nowadays I just destroy these people by asking ultraprobing extremely personal questions back....such as are you regretting having children or how is your libido after decades of married life etc. etc. The Paradox is, once you achieve the ability to fireback, people realize it and you don't get asked such questions anymore, however much you want that to happen.

@nikhil.kamath They are giving half the picture. Because the residential electricity is slightly discounted and not geared for so much load of everyone charging the car. the electricity also has losses. For e.g. if one generates the electricity using the coal or any fossile fuel, the thermal to mechanical and then mechanical to electrical efficiency is also low and then over top of it, there are losses in transmission and distribution. In India, some major losses also because of theft or corruption theft. So for getting the power at home itself there is so much wastage. Then now if you charge car which will also not be fully efficient in utilization as the car will again convert electrical to mechanical energy and the quality of road and friction will have these losses. Ultimately, I susepct that the losses are same or more in the EV. The temperature will also not reduce, because the only change would be moving the thermal energy from car to the power plant. Also, the electric car will also convert the energy to mechanical. Yes, it would be less at a delivery point, but it will be magnifying at the generation point. Its like cement plant, where huge CO2 goes out and it destroys the temerature nearby the cities. Lastly, pure EV will destroy the entire work and generations of incoem and jobs and bring recession. Why? Because EV does not have any ICE (Internal combustion engine) and many parts, on which so many vendors, dealers, retailers, workers, service centers, etc etc entire sub system works, will suddenly become jobless and who will earn? Only the owners of the EVs plants. So entire money will again go to only top super rich and making country poorer and poorer... Of course eventually when the gap between super rich rich and middle class and poor increases and everyone goes down to poverty, ultimately these super rich also become poor, because either their wealth will not have buyers or there will be revolutions like communism, which will take away everything.
