I admire how conversational Stefanie’s cooking is… she communicates with her food using all her senses… feeling the fire, eyeballing the salt, smelling the onions and tasting the pepper by colour… she’s immersive and lovely and the “love dhal” is an expression of her heart and this is divine food! Fatten up the “love dhal” - Helicopter mom yuh dhal! Undefine yuh dhal! Feel yuh dhal! Love yuh dhal! If yuh dhal eh have love in it, I doh want it! Big up you Stefanie! ❣️
I THOROUGHY enjoyed this episode - Stephanie (recognized her immediately from the article Baidawi shared) draws you in and you have to keep watching and listening. She's making one of my favourite dishes in the world - DHAL!!! I will definitely try this, with the dasheen bush - amazing idea! Oh, for the Love of Dhal!
3/10/2024 finally made a dal that’s worthy of sharing. Thank you Stephanie. I also appreciate what you said about recipes. They can limit and prevent one from experimenting by adding more spices etc.
Wonderful episode, Ms Ramlogan really cooks with her heart. This was like a cross between a callaloo and my mother's dhal, and I am here for it! Will definitely be trying this.
Very nice recipe Stephanie was awesome...mhmm keep surprising us with these random surprise chefs it certainly gets my attention...i miss all the past guests bring them back ever so often
I find I need recipes for baking and sweets making, but I agree on making things like soups and stews from what you feel. Love the rhythm and cadence of your Love Dhal making 😊
I enjoyed this segment as I do with Chrysal. Cooking is an art and when people especially are removed from the country of their culture's origin, they will strive to hold on to the authenticity of their food for instance. It's worldwide, not just the Caribbean. We pass on and try to hold on to the flavors, the methods, the secrets...in spite of colonization that tried to destroy the cultures as we know it. As a Black American, I learned to make dahl the Trini way and the Guayanes way and appreciate both due to their own authentic way.
is how i could feel the love flying off the screen tho. i like her. i likin that dhal too. [and honestly, a good cup of dhal or dhal and white rice is all you need yes] big ups.
Great episode Stephanie and Baidawi..I like her style. I put poi leaf in dhal sometimes. I never thought of using dasheen leaves but I have to try it soon.
I totally agree with when she said how we cook without looking at a book. We "feel our food". That is how "us" Trinis and by extension Caribbean people cook with love. Taste as you go along. Add a little bit of this ....a little of that. The ingredients won't be the same everytime so we "tweek as the pot bubbles". - Tanya😊

Felt love in the article and hungry at the same time. Great writing, best of foods, Caribbean food.
This is the calmest chaotic cooking that I have ever seen. What is love if not that? :) I'm making this tonight! Thanks eh!

Hello my dear... I like how down to earth you're while you speak. Gyal ah smelling it from here lol.
Awesome dhal recipe with a twist. Dhal is our favorite Guyanese classic dish. Happy Wednesday 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
What type of dal did you use? Is it masoor dal?

Wes not Caribbean. We are Indian. You look like one of those who like black man.
So this is like a dhal soup?
👌
As a Trini living in Arizona, i dont get any of the Trini ingredients. So, I substitute almost everything.
Really Indian
Baghi in Dhal, really?
what's wrong with that?
@@suren123a absolutely nothing but never saw this in Dhal in T&T before but no offence, God bless
Yes..ochroes too. Try it
My mother in law calls that Heavy Dhaal.
