Dogtra is the only E collar brand that we carry, sell, and recommend to our clients. They have a ton of options to pick from, but our number one seller is the Dogtra Arc! The Dogtra Arc is one of the best e-collars on the market for a variety of reasons. To start, they come with a ton of features that most of our clients desire.
The Dogtra Arc has a ¾ mile range. In a normal environment, it is best to cut this number in half, but that is still around 600 meters which is more than enough for the average dog owner. This means you can reliably take your dog off leash in most settings where it is allowed.
The ARC’s remote has an on and off button, a vibration which is used to get your dog’s attention, and 127 levels of stim which serves as a correction, meaning that you can get a precise working range for your dog. Most e-collars on the market have levels that range from 1-10, meaning your corrections are either too little for your dog or too much! This number is found during the acclimation process.
The remote and collar holds a charge quite well, and gets fully charged in under 2 hours! Please note that you need to manually turn the remote and collar itself off, otherwise the battery will drain! For swimmers, this collar is also waterproof, which is an awesome feature!
As we mentioned in this video, our favorite feature about the Dogtra Arc is that it is expandable up to two dogs. We work with a ton of multiple dog households, and it is super convenient to have one remote for two dogs. The only downside here is that if each dog requires different stim levels, you need to pay close attention when you are correcting to make sure the level is not too high to low. Dogtra offers a variety of multiple dog options, but the ARC is one of the few versions that allow you to add an additional dog collar later on. Some of the other models do not have this feature, so if you wanted to add an additional dog to your existing e collar system, you would have to buy a new unit all together.
Getting a fit with an e collar can be tricky with some breeds, especially longer or thicker coats. This process can take some time, but it is covered during the acclimation process. Most Dogtra products come with 2 standard contact points that work for most breeds, but there are a few other options available to help make good contact. Dogtra sells extensions on their website which work quite well, but our go to recommendation is the comfort pad. Please watch this video to learn more about the comfort pad! • Dog Trainer Reviews: W...

Once the collar is fit perfectly and it is making a good connection, we recommend marking the hole in the loop on the collar, that way you can ensure a consistent fit every time. Nail polish works great here!

Otherwise, using an e collar is simple. First thing is to make sure your dog is completely trained. Make sure the collar is not just for corrections, as it's meant to give your dog more freedom rather than take it away.
All in all, once you made the decision that your dog needs an e collar, getting the Dogtra Arc collar is a safe bet! Always make sure your dog is properly trained and trustworthy, and you need to make sure they are fully acclimated to the e collar! Once you check off all of those boxes, you are ready to give your dog the freedom they deserve!

I have a Golden Retriever with thick coat. Would the comfort pad attachment work with my Dogtra 1900s?

Hey Larry! The Comfort Pad works great on the 1900s! It also works well on Goldens and other breeds with thick fur. I think you will love it!

So it's best to pair the command with the pager at the same time? I wasn't sure if i would have to say the command come and then page or vice versa.
also, will there be one in the future where you don't have to switch the toggle at the very top to page/correct the dog you're trying to communicate with? I feel like in case of an emergency and need to use it, i would struggle switching it to the right dog in time.

Hey Manuela! We prefer to teach the dog to consider the pager and the come command as the same thing. That is why we say come as we page. Check out our video called “How to Acclimate to Vibration”. It shows all the steps in detail.
Regarding the toggle, that is only for changing from Continuous to Nick. That change rarely needs made. You can control each dog with vibration and stim from the four large buttons. The Arc works great with two dogs!

I have a Great Dane that I take off-leash on hikes in the forest, where encountering deer and other wildlife is a high probability. She gets her nose to the ground and quickly loses focus on me or anything around her. She listens only when she feels like it. She would need a collar that is about 18" long (over 45 cm). Is there a large dog version of the Dogtra Arc E collar?

Great question! The Arc will fit a dog with an 18 inch neck without any issues. If you want a more powerful collar the Dogtra 1900s is also a great collar. That being said, I really like the Arc and very rarely use a 1900s instead of the Arc. Either one should be great for your Dane. Let us know if you have any other questions!

That shows up on the screen when you are pushing the pager button for collar 1.
