Haha glad it wasn't just rumors because the new generation Sportage has been released in South Korea earlier this year within the nation. Us in North America get Hyundai/Kia vehicles usually 6 months to 1 year later since the initial release in Korea.
Same here. Someone finally listened and put not one but two 12.3 inch screens in the base model. Kia is killing the comp and giving people what they want and at a price that won't break the bank and with a cherry on top with not having to move up to the top trim to get all the features.
I've been waiting for it too. But that front end with the quirky looking boomerang lights, just killed it for me. I'll go to the Hyundai Tucson instead. The whole thing looks too busy.

Some people might say it stands out too much but that's what I like about it- and if there's not that many out on the road then it'll stand out even more! Like driving an alien spaceship down the highway haha
I love this vehicle, especially the exterior and the fact that this is affordable too! With that being said, I have two zonks. The first one being the interior gloss black trim and the second one being the engine. I wish that the interior had more matte finishes because given how nice the layout looks, the gloss black I feel cheapens the looks of the vehicle. Also, the second zonk is that I wish this had around 250HP to really back up the good looks.
Surely Kia wants this model to achieve solid mpgs. 250 hp would obviously decrease mpg performance. However, we still don't know what the hybrid and plug in versions will look like performance wise 👀
Just got a great offer on our 2021 Seltos and are looking to upgrade to this, I absolutely hate the gloss finish on our Seltos, in the steering wheel, wtf? Can't tell you how often it blindingly reflects the sun in my eyes
The instrument cluster and touch screen on the dashboard is amazingly awesome. Nice job to whoever designed that within Kia. A follow-up question around external cameras - Is there a 360 degree camera view, or just a backup camera?
I love that kia are unique and bold (even the soul, but it's still a bit ugly). But kia is following a lot of trends like of road package, black out roof/ pillars LEDs lighting (I know that last generation had LEDs but now it's more bold), rear LEDs tail light, big screens and gorgeous black wheels

Legit the biggest complaint I had about the previous sportage is that the grill made the car look like a fish. This... has no right to look this good. Its a small SUV!!! Why does the grill look so intense and sick!?!?

Great non-driving review, but I beg to differ with what you've said at 0:42: The metamorphosis of Kia began in 2006, when their parent company Hyundai hired superstar stylist Peter Schreyer away from Audi, to create that "tiger nose" front end design as well as the many other styling cues that made up the 2010 - 2015 (3rd generation) Kia Optima sedan and was perfected with the introduction of the 2018 - present Kia Stinger; the infiltration of such design spreading across Kia's entire lineup at that time as well. Topping off this important element, would be the influx of new, more intriguing and engaging models like the Telluride, Forte, Sorento and even making not so popular models like the Sedona minivan and the full-sized Cadenza sedans more handsome to the eyes. Otherwise, this is a very nice job on this report.
They did great! Of course price point is important! Wish for a little more info on 360 camera system. That 24" curved screen is great also. KIA is on top of what I am looking for!
It’s incredible that brands like Kia and Hyundai/Genesis were never ever on my radar . Wow how things have changed it’s very very exciting to see competition amongst auto makers bring out improvements and creativity. The new aggressive designs and sleek styling reminds me of how Infiniti used to be 🤷🏽♂️. I truly hope Nissan puts more effort into helping Infiniti redefine itself so they can become competitive hopefully with new redesigns of their fleet as well as updated technologies 👍🏽.
From the Stinger, K5, EV6, to the new Sportage… KIA is killing it with their new designs! I do think that they need to buff the Stingers power in a new trim to compete with the other high end sport cars.

Thanks for the review Joe. But did I hear correctly that you mentioned an 8% increase in mpgs??? The previous model was low in mps compared to the competition which is why I upgraded to the Telluride since there wasn't as much of a difference between the two. I always thought that was a let down on that model even though I liked it.

I purchased my 2022 Sportage EX in September, and as my third Sportage prior model years 2013 and 2017. My current Sportage continues the move to improve in design, quality, and performance. Viewing the 2023 Sportage has raised an excitement to get my hands on the 2023 model. It may be unreasonable to trade in a nearly new vehicle, but that's the plan. I can't wait. Thank you for elevating the turn signals from the lower rear bumber. A long-time issue for myself and perhaps others.

The higher trims have a full 360 camera.
They took the EV6 design screen and stuck it in. Lovely and smart .
@@jansenwilder1335 the screens are basically identical to the hyundai elantra/sonata dash. Looks to be exactly the same software as well.

Great decision by Kia for sticking with a very reliable 8 speed transmission and not a cvt. Car looks great too!

Kia hit us all with that Manu Ginóbili euro step. Their come back is unmatched! Changing the logo is nail in the coffin for a lot of other automakers.
