- We had to Meet Dillion and his 82 yota, 22re with "lots done" he did mention he's able to squeeze out 200 horses which is unreal for the 22re block.

My sand rail is powered by a 22r. Rear engine, rear wheel drive, 4 speed, 1500lbs. Even mostly stock its a trooper.

Who built the motor? I have a 22r in a buggy I am looking to build some horsepower in but would like to converse with someone that knows about getting HP out of 22r’s and obviously you do!
My 22r Celica engine is swapped into a sand rail so pretty similar to what youve got I assume.
These engines respond really well to tubular headers and if you have an early carbed motor, its pretty easy to throw a weber single plane manifold/carb and a hotter cam in it, especially if youre looking to stay NA and want to trade off some of the crazy low speed grunt for some power up in the revs. These few mods are pretty cost effective and will show good gains.
Beyond that, the major bottleneck is the stock cyl head as its very restrictive for NA power and will make most of its power below 5k rpms even with a fairly big cam.
Its important to note that for the same money youd spend on a full top end swap, ported head and valvetrain goodies included, you might make 150~hp to the wheels na, but you could boost a stock headed combo with a mild cam and put down closer 200hp flywheel for about the same costs. It depends on your goals.
My sandrail is 1175lbs with me in it with 4.375:1 gearing so making 100hp with a mostly stock 22r still absolutely ripped but I ended up throwing a td04 turbo on it and blow through a holley 2bbl. I did open up the bottom end for ring gap but its on a completely stock rotating assembly, stock head bolts, stock headgasket. Runs fricken great.
I got a stock replacement 22r, in Cali, and I'm slow. No uphill power. A yaris blew my doors off

@@standardarm63throw a nice Weber carb on it offenhauser intake manifold. Get a ported head get little cam headers distributor and msd igniter and plug wires little spal fan and straight pipe it and call it a day

22re? Must be running ITB with injectors I guess, cause that induction is loud, or carbs and description off.
@PunchingMegaTree oh it can be tunen via fuel pressure the mass air flow spring ajtments injector size more that one would thing and wortk great it of road apps but at on the road your right as a microsquirt ecu is 350 buck all in so screw the old teck but yeas ago we did crap to manuly tune thesse pardon me grimmere grammer

I think I agree here ... it’s that signature Intake sound of the 4age and you can rev the Piss out of the 4age, it’s redline is 7500rpm. 22re loses everything beyond 4000 rpm :)
