    One important detail that was missed: The ratchet should be used to turn the flywheel COUNTER CLOCKWISE so that the engine rotates the proper direction and potential damage is avoided. If the timing mark can be seen, but needs to be turned clockwise a tiny amount to be aligned, from my experience this small amount of rotation won't cause any damage. (So for this bike imagine the engine rotating the same direction as the wheels when riding).

    Thank you for a very clear video - I would be happy to buy a second hand motorcycle which you had owned as you obviously take care of your machines to a high standard. Did you perhaps consider replacing the shim on the no.3 cyclinder intake with one smaller so the gap would be 0.15 mm ++? It would have left the gap on that valve very close to the middle of the specified range, and you could then go ahead and enjoy the next 42,000 km with even more confidence. Thank you again for a great video. I am considering buying a Tracer 900 GT and always do my own maintence so seeing someone perform that task so carefully is always very welcome, as it boosts my confidence as a home maintainer.

    Have you owned this bike since new? This engine is known on the forums to have tight exhaust valves LONG before 40k kilometers/26k miles. First check should be at 16k miles. If you wait you may burn exhaust valves. More then a few have had this.
    I'm wondering how yours were all good at 40k KM. Someone else just did them?

      @naanon9427 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sileniu Since much of the work is omitted from the video, CSI Auto Deatail's question is valid. I would assume that the air box and gas tank do not need to be removed to perform both the valve check and adjustment on the MT-09, FZ-09, and possibly the Tracer, which i nice. Scolding someone for asking a valid question is the action of a jerk.

    • @sileniu
      @sileniu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@naanon9427 If you can access the airbox without removing the tank on any bike 2001+ , then you're damn good . ( without removing the whole engine)
      By any logical means, if the airbox is over the DOHC and the gas tank usually is over the airbox -> that means you need to remove first the tank -> airbox-> to access the valves.
      Any person with a motorcycle can deduce the answer to this simple question by pure observation... on his own bike, you dont need to have a engineering degree.
      I'm not a jerk , but this kind of question are the reason we need to right on a coffee cup : " Careful, hot content "
      Have a nice day.

    • @naanon9427
      @naanon9427 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sileniu Looks like all the valve check work he does in this video is done from below the bike, where the radiator has been removed. Can't see anything where he goes through the top where the air box has been removed, since there is still too many parts obstructing access even after the air box has been removed , which he points out earlier in the video. So what is the point of removing the tank and air box as you have just claimed ? Even if it is necessary and he missed that in the video, why jump somebodies ass for asking ?

    • @sileniu
      @sileniu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@naanon9427 Do you have this bike? If yes, please make a video like this without the removal of the tank and airbox... Or go to fz 09 forum and ask there... The community is great.

    Very good ! You show really well all the procedure. However on THIS kind of engine ( if I have this kind of a bike one day ) I prefer giving it to the workshop. Once in 40000 km - tolerable expense, unless I don't trust the workshop to do it properly.
    One thing - why don't you LIFT the bikes ? I'm sure that if you able to do all this complicated work, you can figure out a simple way to lift the bike some 40-50 cm up.... That would make the job SO much easier .
