An Aron Ra lecture I haven't heard yet? That's a nice surprise. I thought I had run dry.
SeraphinaAizen1 Yeah, me too. Probably because it was in the Thinking Atheists list and not Aron's. I'm going to have to go through EVERYONES playlist now, just to be sure that I haven't missed anything else.
Being wrong is difficult, but it opens the door to new information. Great talk!
No person will ever replace Hitch. AronRa isnt here to try to replace him but offers insights that are invaluable just the same. We need to support those that carry the torch as AronRa does. He is an extremely intelligent guy so listen up... you might learn something.
first time i heard this guy talking...gives back some faith in humanity...great guy
I have listened to many recordings of myself with a headset mic , and never heard my own breathing. This wasn't my mic, and there was no sound check. They simply it on seconds before going on stage, and I had no idea that it was on too close. In fact I think I adjusted it even closer. Sorry about that everyone.
A fine speech Aron, I enjoyed learning about your experiences and conclusions.
I'M WATCHING ALL OF THEM. THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. SO MANY HOURS OF ENLIGHTENMENT. :D
Awesome. nice to get some more background on a guy who's inspired and captivated so many viewers. top notch work Aron, and thanks heaps Seth for sharing. Kudos, and keep up the good work.
Two points;
1) The internet, the ability to freely discuss topics with people outside your familial and social circle is truly up there with one of the best inventions ever be made (so far)
2) I wish that Aron, Matt and Seth (TTA) could be funded to come down to the next Aussie Atheist Convention. Last year was HUGE. And I think that they would get a as much of a kick out of the crowd as the audience would with them.
Thanks for posting the vids TTA!
Thanks for uploading all of these!
One of the most impressive talks I have ever heard.
AronRa: thank you for that excellent speech. Your embrace of reason and objectivity is truly an inspiration!
That was great! Time just flew by!
as english is not my mother tongue, i had some problems listening to the speeches of dr. morgan,ms . smith and matt dillahunty...but somehow aronra and seth make it so easy listening and understanding them...great speeches
Very excited to listen to this! Thanks Seth!
i am an unabashed aronra fan.i have heard snippets of his story on another video of him speaking a year ago (or two),but this was a more in depth presentation.i appreciate his story so very much.he addresses here some things that bothered me for years while a xtian (and of course, afterwards) and the icing on this is that i do not feel so dumb for having been willingly clinging to beliefs in the past.thank you for this post!
Great talk. Much of it mirrors my own experience very closely.
Victory! Go get them Aron!
Excellent speech. Thx Aaron. I didn't know much of his past.
Hi Aron-Ra's wife! Thanks for being a science teacher!
Awesome story about him and Mrs. Ra.
@ScienceSupporter I agree, It was very interesting. I could sit around and listen to these guys anytime.
thumbs up if you sat through the entire thing. amazing job, aron.
AronRa's story is why it is so important to teach world mythology in school and to teach the difference between science and myth in school.
One of atheisms finest examples: Aaron Ra being logical, honest and speaking intelligently. Coming to conclusions and using his brain and finally arriving at reality after being indoctrinated into religion as a child. Religion is child abuse. It has held back humanities progress. Just imagine how far ahead we would be if there was no religion.
WONDERFUL!
Just finished the video
AronRa, you are one of the most brilliant speakers i have ever heard.
May the Schwarz™ be wiv' ya!
Go AronRa!!!
love him
"No matter what, good people should not be damned for eternity simply for not being gullible enough..."
AronRa you beast! great speech
I love this guy!!!!!!!
This man is one of my heros.
Let the tsunami of words commence!
@AronRa Absolutely bloody brilliant! :O)
I loved this, not only are you on top form but I loved the history of your own journey in and out of faith. I even had a lump in my throat at the end.
BRAVO!
Thanks so much for uploading these! Wish I'd been there! :P
Awesome!
Your RULE ARONRA!!!!
Awesome.
I like these speeches. I like them more than the blogtalks ;).
AronRa for president 2016!
I enjoyed this so much! Great speaker, very thoughtful, and great hair!
Thanks for posting this. Aron-Ra is one of my favourite atheists.
That was very enjoyable.
Nice job. I enjoyed the presentation.
"We shut off the lights to see what it was" Epic.
agreed. good comment
Aron-Ra, knows what he's on about, he's been through all that sh*t, smoking all that sh*t.
I hope 5/5 is uploaded today!
Alll glory to clarkkkk!!!
An awesome friend of mine once called the Old Testament "the world's trippiest crack fic" SO TRUE
just the FACTS! ma'am, just the FACTS!
AronRa....eloquent as always! ;)
Other than that weird part about the occult in the middle of his speech, I found the talk very enlightening. I always appreciate people when they say where their thinking was wrong before they improved upon it. It makes me question the definition of 'stupid' I once held. Stupid isn't being wrong about the obvious, it's being wrong about the obvious and refusing to learn the truth.
Ha I have no doubt in his sincerity of what he talks about, I'm sure you can relate to that.
Digging the Lovecraft shirt.
Just started the video and already love it. Remixed version of the TMNT movie theme lol
I finished watching this one, and I feel the same way at 48:00 (Around there.) That Christians, if they lose a debate, that to them, is like pulling out their heart. Taking away their weapon.
Nice
@Apecakistan I'm often surprised to hear that some people still believe the Earth is flat.
You're not crazy!!
Holy shit, I never knew he was nearly 50, he looks like he's in his twenties! Great speech too
Brilliant. Personal stories, true facts and sincere emotions. These events need to be a more and more common part of the public discourse until the world realises that there is an alternative to superstition and tradition.
@Flyborg You're right, people do separate from the masses and gather into like groups, and that is the point. I see the separation, and it is never a good idea, particularly here. These are great people, who fight for something extremely important, and community can be a very good thing. But, community also makes it easier to feel safe, and harder to see problems. They are doing and have done incredible work, but that doesn't make them immune to an outside perspective.
@yongkykuncoro
Aron Nelson, he was introduces as such at the Texas Board of Education.
The audience is really missing their time to applause in this great speech.
I went through almost an identical experience in my youth only i didn't have the fanatical religious people in my life (just "soft "Christianity).
Awesome talk.
CHYEAHHH D&d!!
Loved how he said "She is now a science teacher in a public schools.", is if that was the most sexy thing in the universe!
@RabbitSpades It's a church. As Direkin mentioned, it was the only available place.
@jakeneko Quite probably his microphone rig.
Or.... is it to keep the Texas Tank in line?
@KenMacMillan thank you sir but im not sure if this was what i was lookin for, but the link you did give me is a very inserting vid
I know what he's talking about when he said he was debating someone and they turned into a manaquine. This is normally when you come up with something they can't counter at all and they often pretend it is a complete lie, or pretends that it was never said.
My brother thinks Aron-Ra looks like Ron Jeremy at a glance.
I found that amusing enough to put here.
Few years ago i was having a conversation with my mother about hell and made her say: "i don't think it's justice but who am i to question god?". Nowadays she isn't fundamentalist anymore but still believes, good progress thanks to logic.
god i love these ppl!!! (teehee). i'm a recovering Orthodox Christian. i've been sober for 8 months. i asked the questions, i did the research, and after a year of searching, i found the answer. there is no "god" in the sense they claim there is. and found this to be true of not just christianity, but every other religion i could find. im sad that there is no afterlife, but if i no longer exist, i won't miss living now will i? XD at least that's the way i try to see it...
@RabbitSpades Wasn't intentional. IIRC it was mentioned in one of TAE episodes that it was the only venue that they could get.
The biggest problem evolution has is that creationists shamelessly lie about it.
@SecularMentat watch his Foundations of Creation Falsehood series, very good
I love the H.P. Lovecraft shirt AronRa is wearing.
@BMReaves1 I have, very good actually. I've seen everything AronRa has put out as far as i know.
@DeckthaHalls Acid, it does wonders.
2:06 - Wild Dances by Ruslana!!! OMG Aron, are you a Eurovision fan?!?!?!
28:53 - 29:10 I'M SO ABOUT TO QUOTEMINE THIS!
@AronRa it ain't to bad :)
@MrAdvancedAtheist Thanks for helping everyone understand that Atheists can be shallow too.
I used to have arguments with my sister on evolution and I would try to explain to her that you don't have to give up your belief in god to accept evolution but she couldn't get away from a creationists view even though she wasn't a literalist. Fortunately she decided to go to college for anthropolgy and after her first month of the class she now accepts evolution and realizes that what I was talking about was true, I just explained it poorly and she thought she would have to give up belief.
Like a m'in-f'in BOSS!
Bring down the hammer,Mr. Aron-Ra,You,sir are the man!
I always find it interesting to hear these kind of stories. My own is quite different. When I was young I was very surprised when I realised that people actually believed in God today, I had thought it was just something people believed in the Middle Ages.
Storytellers that we are, there's no helping on taking a look at those kind of stories, the religions of the world were smart in coopting the best ones and attributing them to themselves.
yup..definetley "flying blindfolded"..you cant see at all.
i'd love to hear kent Hovind's answers to this video, i'd pay to see that ...
Guess he named himself Aron-ra in his gargoyle summoning days.
@StealthMarmot or is it that Ron Jeremy looks like AaronRa?
[citation needed]
can anyone tell me in the video they show, in the beginning of it has some ppl danceing and looks like there rapping, i'd like to see that vid
5th!! woohoooo!
@gulbirk Atheist was also used to define a person who didn't believe in their God and "in late 18th-century Europe, specifically denoting disbelief in the monotheistic Abrahamic god."-wikipedia. Funny how words change.
@AronRa So, if one chooses to organize facts based on if they support cherished opinions rather than choosing to hold opinions that are supported by facts, then one may achieve complete confidence at the mere cost of being completely wrong.
During the time when I was losing my faith, there was a pastor that said, believing in god wasn't enough to get to heaven. He said that demons believed in god, but demons are not saved, so why should we be saved simply by believing? We must be BORN AGAIN in order to be saved, or some BS like that :\
