- (This speech had to be divided into 2 parts due to TH-cam file size restrictions.) Matt Dillahunty is a former Christian and current host of "The Atheist Experience," a public access TV show in Austin, TX which has generated fans (and foes) around the world via the internet. Every broadcast features debate and discussion about the incongruity and immorality of the bible, its god and religion as a whole.

This whole convention was fuckin awesome to watch on TH-cam.
Seth, you're doing an amazing job trying to bring atheism into the 21st century with the polished and professional way of presenting, editing, etc
Never stop
Thank You, Matt!
And thanks, Seth =)
You are both wonderful representatives of Atheists!
Oh, it's good to see new stuff with Matt in it.
Wonderful lecture!
That's one of my favorite paintings, too.
halleluiah! finally parts 4 and 5
Matt Dillahunty is definitely one of the best, if not The best.
“He who sees all beings
In his own self
And finds the reflection
Of his own self in all beings
Never looks down upon any body.”
- Yajur Veda 40/6
thanks!
@MrSmackdab and i appreciate your complement regarding my rationality.
Oh, I didn't realize he was behind Iron Chariots. That's a fantastic site.
Great talk.
I can't believe this was nearly 7 years ago now...
Seem kinda funny that as I sit here listening to Matt, the TH-cam ad in the top right hand corner of the screen is for a Christian online college. BTW thank you Seth for sharing!
I would love to read the email he wrote to his mother. Sounds like it might be an interesting read and could contain a very good explanation of some of the arguments used against religion in a very concise way.
I love that the Google Ad that gets posted over this is
"Meet Christian Singles"
@daeamarth Already did in March. It took up an entire episode of The Atheist Experience.
Hadn't this already been uploaded? I could've sworn I watched it already.
Matt rocks!
The rageface at 18:04 is probably when Comfort didn't quite agree that Spanish and Italian were derived from Latin. "Ok, I'll have to trust you on that one," he said. It's a look of disgusted disbelief.
And to those who compare this convention to going to church: people are social and want to converse with like-minded people. But gathering and sharing ideas and methods is not remotely the same as espousing that crude, ancient myths are ultimate guidelines for modern life.
@dbzscott88 thanks. never heard it before.
Most people are watching this to see matt and aron speak after seeing thunderfoot recommended this.
Matt Dillahunty At 18:02 that's a very expressive drawing, but I would not have taken it as a "rage face" and I am actually quite good at facial communication. To me it looks like searching internally for any possible signs of sanity in some distasteful though that's being digested. I'm guessing it didn't go down. :)
Matt Dillahunty
In other words, "Love the believer, hate the belief," with the fiery passion of a thousand fucking suns! I like it! Thanks, Matt.
''I hate that, I hate the religion with a fiery passion of a thousand fucking suns''
I COULD NOT have said that ANY better MYSELF!
@Dar0A0Nakk The one from this morning was deleted, and re-uploaded again.
Now that´s a nice nickname!
@SothManigan How many movies have you seen where a guy propositions a woman he just met in a place like a hotel, and she says yes? Just about every James Bond movie, for starters.
THE LAST VIDEO. I want to come to one of these....If I can? o.0
Matt is perhaps one of the smartest, and dedicated atheists we have around, not only in the USA but around the world, and he is among my 'atheist' heroes, alongside Dawkins and several other atheists we can find through youtube :)
@PatchesRips that would be expecting her family to behave rationally, but if they did that, they would have no reason to dislike him at all, would they?
29:00 or so, someone has a Star Trek ring tone.
@rysw19 Yeah - it was an emotional plea (and a dare) and I was not yet a teenager. I was more furious with the notion that it had taken root with everyone around me and they had become slaves - so it seemed fitting as an act of defiance. I have since grown up although admittedly not all that much. All this plays into my extreme nature as a hardened skeptic - so much harder than any of the 4 henchmen.
When Matt said that God did it is equivalent to saying it's fucking magic, did anybody else think of that Miracles song by ICP?
Part 2 plz.
Does anyone know why he doesn't agree with the zeitgeist movement?
OMG! There is an ad for ChristianMingle on this page!
All hail the Arch-atheist of Austin!
I just find it ironic how the ad I got on the video was one for Christian Mingle.com
@MrSmackdab four horsemen i think you mean, right? your "extreme nature" doesn't seem to be extreme in its views, only in its practice. maybe you can further explain.
Lol, ad for catholic match in the banner
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! He said, 'Fuck"! I'm telling!
@myriadcorp
Love it!
@MrSmackdab i've never heard myself called conventional.
umm.......why is there a christian mingle dating website in the ad spot on an Atheist channel?
@GreyLabyrinthine
I know what you mean. It's easy to just lash out no holds barred. I've been guilty of doing it many times myself, especially when it comes to the preaching and condemning fundies
But one should pick battles, it seems like the best approach next to ridicule.
For me Harris and Dawkins are the symbols of how you can stay calm and still destroy religious irrationality, i've learned a lot from them
Unfortunately there's no template-answers but logic will always prevail
I juste love Matt... He's a great guy, really great debater. And although I really love Richard Dawkins too, Matt seems more "human" to me somehow. Maybe because he was "one of them" once.
Dawkins parents brought him to church too and he went through the motions of christianity as a teenager. I like them both too.
Atheist Media Education Network - AMEN
Still no part 2.
@Tobytrim
actually, since Beth seems to be like 23. why don't they just call him "that old pervert"?
talk about a cliffhanger..... (translation: hurry up with part two, mate!)
@TheMrgoku1985 "evodence"?
wheres part 2?..........PLEASE
@MLiebeU
What do you actually mean by "i do believe in God. But this speech is very logical."?
This speech isn't addressing the existence or not of God per se. It's addressing the importance of non-believers actually engaging and challenging the (irrational) beliefs of the population at large (and the best ways of doing it).
@epsilon6 I love the fact god needs the internet to hook up his followers.don't they meet each other in church or at a book burning?
@myriadcorp re: AMEN - LOLLLLLLLL
I didn't know David Wells was an atheist
Was the cameraman drunk? Center the subject!!!
I haven't seen the video your referencing but Dawkins has said on numerous occasions that he finds the fables in the bible lovely to read as fiction, and promotes reading them but as nothing more than fairy tales. If I ever find the videos I'll send them to you, but if you find the video you're referencing, could you please send it to me? I can imagine if he did say that, you may have paraphrased incorrectly or taken it out of context (forgive me for making potentially false assumptions).
This is part 1 again.. where is part 2?
@supergenius2450cr Get firefox and the add on add block+ no more watching you tube ads
What's a "gree gree"? Is that what he said?
@jeffmg40402000 I see an ad for Orion Telescopes. Much better then the Christian ad.
@elvigia666 Eh, you don't get the money to become an investor by letting ideaology stand in the way of profit. Either the network would have to be economically viable, or the investor would be okay just being a donator.
Man created god from his own imagination.
@MLiebeU
You didn't offend me (I'm rather hard to offend, actually).
But I found your comment a bit weird, and not entirely sensical. I was just asking what you actually meant by it.
@TheMrgoku1985 ????
@octoron85 amen
Matt is so very easy to listen to isn't he, that 34 minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
so. Are they going to have a wedding in a church?
Nice "pack of hotdogs" on the back of his neck! Love ya, Matt!
@MrSmackdab
The correct spelling is "I'm not biased".
I'll ignore the conspiracy theories. You clearly like swallowing them all.
part 2??
Really enjoyed this part, but I want to watch part 2.
Best caller ever...watch?v=JJxCFa8YmbQ
@myriadcorp Damn! There's no 'thumbs'! Ah well, great work anyway
27:10 "I hate that. I hate their religion with the fiery passion of a thousand fucking suns."
@MrSmackdab Im sorry. im not understanding what your saying. lol. Is it because im christian?
@Mogley52 Mogley - you're getting flagged because you're linking; write something.
27:16 F-BOMB!!!!!! >:D
@gupsphoo Point taken.
@myriadcorp Lovely stuff, thumbed up, that has to happen
I really like the idea of taking skype calls... it will allow international calls :) yey I can call :D
Does anyone know if Skepchick was there? I'd love to have some coffee with her sometime...
There are a lot of secular or atheists investors, the idea of having a secular tv network is doable IMHO.
I think you misunderstood what he meant. He said that we should not read fairy tails to our children as though it is the truth.
Everyone who gets a religious Google ad: CLICK IT!!! I know it's vindictive, but this is a game of chess.
7th Damn
@rysw19 Although we have a difference of opinion you so seem logical and would like to open a rational dialogue. I thought I'd find some solidarity in my fellow atheists but I feel so alone; it's eerie - almost like I'm being hoodwinked by all hip conventional wisdom. I do have an open mind but cannot tolerate irrationality.
@MrSmackdab global political savior? i'm a bit lost.
33:10 - I disagree. God is not a hypothesis. Its a conjecture.
Also, the best response to "God dun it" isn't telling theists that its a logical fallacy (News Flash: they don't care), its simply to ask them "If your belief is based on what you don't know, then how is God NOT a metaphor for the unknown?"
That will shut down the theist every single time. They can not defend against it. AT ALL.
@uvauva2 ah, well im a bit high i have you know.. lol
@SirDeathDark me 2 .
@MrSmackdab i also never believed in god (at least since i was 7 or so, though i was still terrified that i might be wrong). and i don't believe the picture elaborated on cable news, because of the underlying structure of the institution. i find it kind of pathetic to burn and piss on a bible just for its own sake. i mean i've rolled joints with bible paper, but not for the spite of it. it was just the best material around.
if you take the time to properly research... I agree, but unless they're willing to do the work, it will not happen. I find the subjects (9/11, alternate universes, NDEs) he disagrees with beforehand, then Matt will ignore it completely. I find it odd there is lack of curiosity for finding out even the TOP five 9/11 theories. They're hundreds of 9/11 event issues. I've told many persons how to find the proof(s) for 9/11 truther theories, but they're not willing to even listen or do the work.
@myriadcorp OMG you deserve a hat tip, too bad I don't have a hat on :C
@yislamislame ask and ye shall recieve
i love how people make guesses like its an answer. oh i am just going to believe its wrong. regardless if i could prove it right or that it could be proven to me yes lets not prove your faith is based in reality, makes it easier for us since you prove you will never have with your mentality a means to debate the issue beyond because i said so ^_^ and because i said so is not an answer it is a lead on.
they dislike people make comments likes its nonsense. oh they just going to insist it is right. regardless if they could disprove whatever let us provide the evidence for the poor souls that faith is a human construct, makes it hard since your mentality a means to deliberating the flow beyond kansas because proof is in the pud in that symbolic manipulation of quantity structures, space and change which isn't coherent.
Wait, that bit at the beginning. Calling Matt "That man who gives you sexual pleasure", is more acceptable to the woman than calling him "Matt", or "Him", or "That man", or even "His Most Bald Excellency".
There's something not connecting here.
That was the worst, I mean best speech I ever saw on youtube this morning.
@uvauva2 im sorry.. i didnt mean to offend you..
