Rob Squad: Feel free to do EVERY song on the Appetite album----every song is fire! There's a good reason why it's the best selling debut album of all time, of any genre. And yes, do November Rain again for Amber!
Whenever I hear GnR, I think of the first time I heard them. I had just moved to LA in 1987 and was living with my cousin, an assistant music engineer. One day, he came home and played a song he had been working on at the studio and wanted to know what I thought. It was “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” I knew it wasn’t just another song-it was unlike anything else I had heard. Not long after that, it was all over the radio, and everyone knew who they were.
APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION was a game changer for music in the 80's rolling into the 90's. We had all been glammed up and hair metaled to a point where the whole genre was watered down by commercialized bands created by the record industry. While the hair metal genre still had quality artists playing, there were so many bands that were just being shoved in our face to make money for the industry because they had "The look" but couldn't not cut it musically. This happens in most genre's of music. The comes GnR. Holy crap! Unlike anything we had heard or seen. Blowing are minds and ears with this incredible, genuine music. This album was released in 1987 and set the tone for what people wanted their rock music to look and sound like and it influenced a lot of veteran hair bands to follow. Many lost the glam style, wrote heavier songs and took off the makeup. They saw the writing on the wall. It was about the music and that had to be what was important. The Appetite album is iconic. Every song is incredible and the band just flipped the middle finger to the establishment and did it their way.
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Guns N' Roses songs to react to: "It's So Easy", "Nightrain", "Out ta Get Me", "Mr. Brownstone", and "Rocket Queen".
Back around the time this video came out, I talked to my dad (who has been a musician and luthier for decades) on the phone and asked if he'd seen it, and the first thing he says is "Did you see that flame maple Les Paul he (Slash) had in the video?"
GNR were so good live during this time, check out "Live Tokyo", so many good songs, "Rocket Queen" "Nightrain" "Dont't Cry" "You could be mine" "Bad Obsession" Also definitely worth seeing "live Paris Civil War"
You got to try these tunes....... I just can't live without hearing them!! My Michelle, It's so Easy, Get In The Ring, The Garden W/ Alice Cooper, Civil War, Mr Brownstone, Use To Love Her, You Could Be Mine (from the Terminator 2 soundtrack), Rocket Queen & Garden of Eden (this last song is a good one, sounds like Axl rapping cuse he's singing so fast) Love these tune a looooooooot,, I know you will too!
No one ever mentions it, but "Double Talkin' Jive" is my favourite G 'n R song. Other great ones include "Used to Love Her", "It's So Easy", "Nightrain", "Mr. Brownstone", "My Michelle", "Rocket Queen", "Dead Horse", "Civil War" and "You Could Be Mine" (even though you've already watched T2).
They have definitely gone through the full gauntlet from being as big as any band in the world to basically broken up for what most thought was for good to finally making amends to get back to touring live, three of the original member at least. Axl, Slash, and Duff. Saw them in 2017 and it was a fantastic show
Kiss, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi: what a trilogy for today ! "Yesterdays" is a really catchy Blues-Rock song with a strong Pop sensibility. Some other Guns N' Roses songs to react: "Civil War", "It's So Easy", "Nightrain", "You Could Be Mine", "Mr. Brownstone". If you want some more recent stuff from Guns N' Roses, you could eventually try "Hard Skool" and "Perhaps" if you want.
Great song off of Use Your Illusion 2. Civil War is another good one. If the original video gets blocked then you could try reacting to maybe a lyric video or something along those lines. I've heard that trick works. Some of Dave Matthews Band stuff gets blocked but it isn't the band that does it. I know they don't care if people react or listen. He actually wrote a song called "#41" about the issues he was having with his record label and the control they want and have.
I rember living in Las Vegas at the time they hit it big I remember hearing welcome to the jungle on the radio I went to Kmart and got that tape.. I also rember l played that tape so much I had to buy a nother one I was like 17 at the time God I miss the 80's well y'all have a good one 🤘
I don’t know how long it been since you did The Rolling Stones but when 😂was like 8 I was with my parents on a trip and this song came on the radio. I was hooked. The song is “She’s a Rainbow” first single 1965!
I've been a fan since the beginning, seen them 5x so far. Original Lineup also. I waited for the release at Midnight. CDs on my end, My Uncle got me the Vinyl, at the same time different place.
For the longest time Axl was believed to have the largest vocal range in popular music (5 octaves, 2-1/2 notes - F1 to Bb6). Turns out that title belongs to Mike Patton (6 octaves, 1/2 note - Eb1 to E7)
I don't know how many people noticed this, but when the band is playing in the hanger/shooting space, Slash doesn't seem to be wearing his signature black top hat. It's still a cool hat that Slash is wearing but he appears to be wearing more of a fedora style hat in the music video.
one of the best from GnR was "Civil War"... it both tells a story, and at the same time forces humanity to take a hard..not overly flattering look at ourselves,
NAZARETH - " CHANGING TIMES " 1975 Lead Singers Vocals Identical to AXEL ROSE vocals it's Amazing how there can be a Pre Cursor to Guns n Roses in the 1970s. J & A it's also been more than a year since you guys Reacted to NAZARETH this song Really Rocks.
Axl Rose was a big fan of Nazareth. Manny Charlton was asked to produce Appetite for Destruction. He did most of the work (25 songs) and left, leaving another producer to finish. I remember he said they scene was too much for him and he just wanted to get back to Nazareth. haha. Apparently the reissue of AFD has Manny's work as bonus tracks. I haven't heard them personally tho.
If you want Guns N Roses most epic song then try Estranged. It is part of a Ballard trillogy. Dont Cry, November Rain and Estranged in this order. They tell a story of love, heart break and grief. If you have not done You Could be Mine then it is a must. The main song to Terminator 2. Civil War is their most emotional song lyricaly. Comma is other epic song. Might be their hardest hitting song. They did not have a long period with their original line up. Duff and Slash have rejoined in the last 8 years but Axel is nothing like he was in the 80s and early 90s. Axel wanted to be as big as the beatles but Slash and others just wanted to do hard rock like their first album. This creative difference is a problem for a lot of bands but this along with drugs and alcohol played apart in many original members leaving the band in the 90s. Axel never stoped but they have never been the same. Kurt Cobain was also influenced by the beatles but he never wanted to be as big as them. 2 of my fav bands that are still important today but fame, fortune and drugs got the better of them all. That is why bands like The Rolling Stones are so legendary. They had such a long career despite all of this. When I was a teen my dream was to be a rock star but as I got older I realised that it was not an easy lifestyle. So many temptations and pressures. You can't stay at the top forever and the fall can be very tough. I would just like to experience what it would be like to be a big rock star just for one day. Slash (GnR and Velvert Revolver), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters and Nirvana) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Audioslave) are my musical idols. Each one of them have had a difficult Career. Slash lost band members to drugs, Dave has also lost band members to drugs and mental issues and Chris is no longer with us due to drugs and mental issues but they all made fantastic music that will last forever.
Have you not done "Civil War" and "You Could Be Mine" yet? Those are ICONIC. (I thought you had done them, and perhaps they've been taken down. But if not, those are absolute *MUSTS* .) Beyond that, "Mr. Brownstone" and "Pretty Tied Up" should definitely be hit, and if you want to dive into a deeper cut, "14 Years" has always been a favorite. (It features one of Jay's favorite instruments, hint, hint…) This is fine stuff. The only reason it isn't one of my top reccs is because they're too much competition. Nice call with analogy to "Wild Horses".
Was just checking out your vid for Paradise City by these guys: there you were saying that in the 80s everybody must have wanted to be a rocker. That reminded me that one of the coolest things about then was that everybody got a look in: we all wanted to be a rocker OR an athlete (Carl Lewis, Flojo, Michael Jordan, Hulk Hogan, Joe Montana etc etc) OR a rapper (Beastie Boys etc) Or a movie star...a bitof a free for all. Even being a karate black belt was great, or having a cool muscle car. The only thing that it wasn't great to be was a nerd. Ah well, the nerds are getting theirs now haha. Great times. My favourite gunner is Duff McKagan the bass player too, if we're talking favourites. They don't make 'em cooler than that dude.
Cool toon! I have some suggestions for you. I know J likes guitar and piano and Amber likes horns and lyrics. You won't be sorry on any of these 1. Roy Buchanan - the Messiah will come again. 2. Downchild Blues Band with Jane Vassey it's a piano boogie with horns. 3. Dr. John and Etta James Id rather go blind. It's better than Beth Harts. 4. Gary Moore- Parisienne Walkways. 5. Jeff Beck- Midnight Waiker with Imelda May
PLEASE rewatch "November Rain" with Amber. I just rewatched you reaction and you were mind blown! I love it. Amber will LOVE it. She might even be mad at you for not showing her sooner! Hahaaha
Fantastic song, great band! Next, check out “Used To Love Her,” released in 88 from their Lies album. It might be considered a little misogynistic by over sensitive ❄️ ❄️, but it has a catchy rockin’ melody, and was meant to be taken with a grain of salt. ✌️
This was one of the last singles from the Illusion albums, late 1992 / early 93. Next, try " used to love her", but take the lyrics with a grain of salt
You should do Sweet Child O' Mine live from Tokyo. Make sure you play it all the way to the end. A lot of reactors stop before Axl unleashes his amazing vocals
Rob Squad: Feel free to do EVERY song on the Appetite album----every song is fire! There's a good reason why it's the best selling debut album of all time, of any genre. And yes, do November Rain again for Amber!

@@R_SENALyes but it's still the no. 1 debut album of all time

The thing with Guns N' Roses is that they have great lyrics. This one, Estranged, Breakdown, etc, all amazing lyrics.
“Rocket Queen” has to be on your list somewhere. One of their best
It's a funkier sound for them from that album - always thought it jammed!
@@nancysmith8626agreed
It was one of their least famous songs at the time, still great
Guns N' Roses - I used to love her is worth a listen
GnR saved my life…don’t even get me started on the song COMA. Thank y’all so much and I’m so excited for your success!!!!
Coma is amazing
Coma is another great song. It made me re-think my life.
One of my favorite GN'R songs. Very underrated.
Guns N' Roses is my favorite band, so glad you're doing one again!! I recommend Nightrain.
Mine too

Few albums have ever come out that are just epic from start to finish and this is one of them.
Don't sleep on Duff. He was a large part of GNR sound and is underrated.
His song Longfeather gets me every time.
You really think that Jay is an Eddie Trunk when it comes to knowing anything about the rock/metal music he reacts to? Come on, dude.
His beer is certainly popular on The Simpsons.
Yes!!
@@SERGEANTROCKSHEADBANGERSBALL he bc was making a recommendation. That’s all.
The song Coma ,Civil War, Used to love Her and Get in the Ring maybe my favorites
Civil War is their song you must hear.

💯
Amber & Jay, here are some other good Guns N' Roses songs to react to: "It's So Easy", "Nightrain", "Out ta Get Me", "Mr. Brownstone", and "Rocket Queen".
Excellent choices! I'd love to see them get blown away by Rocket Queen!
Mr. brownstone hell yeah… won’t leave you alone
All bangers, good selections!
Mr Brownstone is my fave GnR song
@@leighs3928 it's a tie between that one and "Rocket Queen" for me, I think. Hard to choose!
Night Train from their LIVE ERA album. Also, COMA is an epic masterpiece.
One of my favorite songs from my favorite band. Great choice.
We played this at my brother's funeral..
👍🏾
As a 58 year old man, this tune rings true even more so now then it did when I bought the original vinyl back in 80s.
Gotta give Mr Brownstone a listen!
I actually heard that on the radio for the first time ever about a month ago.
One of my favorites from the hit or miss Illusion albums. I found Illusion II (Blue) to have the best songs, and this is one of them

"What's so civil about war anyway?"✌️❤️
I was coming to say the same thing.
Yes!!
My biggest recommendation for GnR songs is So Fine, it’s like November Rain and Patience in one, kinda sorta
One of my favorite GN’R songs! ❤
You got to try these tunes....... I just can't live without hearing them!!
My Michelle, It's so Easy, Get In The Ring, The Garden W/ Alice Cooper, Civil War, Mr Brownstone, Use To Love Her, You Could Be Mine (from the Terminator 2 soundtrack), Rocket Queen & Garden of Eden (this last song is a good one, sounds like Axl rapping cuse he's singing so fast)

You should also check out Slash's snakepit, it is newer but it is slash collaborating with different singers. Some really big names in there
Definitely need to check out Civil War next.
I love the first 4 albums. You guys should listen to "Rocket Queen" from "Appetite for Destruction"
Great song. I saw an interview with one of the band members years ago, and he said that this song was the sound of the band breaking up at the time.
That makes a lot of sense, actually.
Izzy’s lyrics in the second verse of “Double-Talking Jive” clearly refer to his feelings on the band as well.
