As a fan of Guns for over 15 years, I was happy to see the new generation listening to this incredible band and this classic song, its energy hits like a punch in the stomach, Axl Rose's voice at that time in this song was surreal , Slash is always impeccable in his solos, and the drums are top notch, as is the whole band itself.
Good band ! Loved them in 1992 as a fan and next year i worked for them on their last tour as a local stage crew. Opening acts were Brain May and Suicidal... What a blast to work for one of your favorite band! I will never forget!

Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in the music video for 'You could be mine' by Guns N' Roses as it was the first new music video from the band since 1988 - it was part of the 'Terminator 2' movie soundtrack in 1991 and it would on Volume II of the 2 CD 'Use your illusion' albums.
Arnold also appeared on AC/DC's music video for the song 'Big gun'... on the soundtrack for his 1993 movie 'Last Action Hero'...
Guns N' Roses were the most unlikely band from Hollywood to become the biggest act in the world from 1988 until 1993... W. Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar) both came from broken families in Indiana... Stradlin left first to Los Angeles w/ his guitar to try become a rock star in the 80's ... Axl followed him afterwards to L.A. and the 2 eventually joined the band Hollywood Rose - Slash (lead guitar) first saw Axl perform w/ Hollywood Rose and briefly joined the band.
In 1985, Hollywood Rose broke up. Axl and Izzy joined the band L.A. Guns featuring Tracii Guns (lead guitar) and they decided to rename the band Guns N' Roses ( Tracii was the 'Guns'... Axl was the 'Roses')... but Axl fired Tracii Guns around 1986 and hired Slash (lead guitar) who brought in his friend Steven Adler (drums) ... Duff McKagan (bass) rounded out the band.
In 1986, Guns N' Roses were one of the most popular bands on the L.A. strip but they were also trouble - drugs, alcohol, egos, fighting... No one wanted to work w/ them or sign them... The band was destitute and lived off strippers and dealing drugs, rehearsing and writing songs in Hollywood drug dens... Finally, an A&R from Geffen Records opted to give them a shot at making a record in '86... Guns N' Roses worked w/ producer Mike Clink to record their debut album 'Appetite for Destruction'... but after hearing the record, the music industry did not have high hopes for the album and Guns N' Roses were always on the verge of breaking up.
Guns N' Roses were put on tour in 1987 opening for Motley Crue... 'Appetite for Destruction' was released that Fall... and when MTV aired the music video for 'Welcome to the jungle'... the demand for the song was so high that MTV's switchboard blew up. Radio got on board and by 1988 as Guns n' Roses were opening for Aerosmith on tour, 'Appetite for destruction' reached #1 on the charts... It would go on to sell over 18 million copies in the US alone w/ major singles - 'Paradise city' ... "Sweet child O' mine"...
The band released the EP 'GNR Lies' in 1988 which included 4 acoustic tracks including the ballad 'Patience'... recorded in 2 days, it sold 2 million copies in the US.
Unfortunately, drugs and alcohol were taking their toll on Guns N' Roses by 1989 as they opened shows for The Rolling Stones... Axl declared onstage one night that if the drug abuse did not stop, he was breaking up the band... Slash was furious (he knew it was directed at him for showing up strung out on drugs) but eventually, the band reached a compromise. In 1990, they made plans to record a double album of new songs.
The problem was that drummer Steven Adler was struggling w/ addiction and unable to play in the studio... he was fired in 1990 and Matt Sorum (drums) was added to the line-up w/ Dizzy Reed (keyboards)... a double volume 'Use your illusion' albums was released in 1991 and both reached the top of the charts and sold 7 million copies each in the US... While on tour, a riot broke out in St. Louis, Missouri at a Guns concert and by the end of the year, guitarist Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N' Roses... Apparently, Axl demanded that he sign a contract reducing his wages in the band. Gilby Clarke (guitar) was recruited for the rest of the tour from 1992 to 1993 as Guns N' Roses toured the world.
In 1992, another riot broke out in Montreal, Canada after Guns N' Roses left the stage early (Metallica, who played before them, stopped playing after their guitarist/ vocalist James Hetfield was burned by onstage pyro and hospitalized that night) Guns N' Roses ended the tour in South America in '93 and released a covers album "The spaghetti incident?"
In 1994, they released a cover of 'Sympathy for the devil' by The Rolling Stones for a movie soundtrack.
Guns N' Roses were expected to begin work on new music but nothing happened as months turned into years... In 1996, news broke that Axl had fired Slash from the band... Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke were already out... and bassist Duff McKagan left on his own by 1997.
Axl Rose tried to launch a new Guns N' Roses w/ only keyboardist Dizzy Reed from the 90's line-up... but it was a problematic inacarnation of the band w/ numerous members leaving before any new music came out. Finally in 2008, Axl released the Guns N' Roses album 'Chinese democracy' (w/ no original members)... but it did not sell as past Guns albums.
Thankfully, fans finally got the Guns N' Roses reunion that they wanted in 2016 - Slash (lead guitar) and Duff McKagan (bass) rejoined Axl Rose to tour again for the 'Not in this lifetime' world tour... However, new music from the band has been slow to come and former members Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke have not participated actively in the band.

It’s funny you mention Axl’s shorts. This is by far one of his most tame fits he wore live. 😂 but you’d usually see him running around in low cut shorts on stage. Nowadays, the man wears jeans all the time coz…well…age 😅
Axl misjudged that fad...bicycle shorts were only "in" for about a year, and totally embarrassing for anybody who actually wore them. My friends called them "wiener shorts". LOL
