One of my favourites was always HHH vs Jericho. Think it’s very underrated. Can’t say I’ve really rated any of the hiac matches since Taker/HHH. Just the hiac ppv concept itself has been a death nail to it.
I still think there’s some specialness left in the stip as long as it’s used for the right match. This year feels like we’re getting that Magic as Sasha and Bayley absolutely feels worthy of hell in a cell even if it’s still early in the feud and Roman/Uso has a lifetime of build to a cell match literally
Your comments at the start really summarize my feelings about WWE's recent infatuation with themed PPVs. Ah, I'm glad to see you share my opinion about the best HiaC of all time. Many people say Taker vs Shawn is better, including both Taker and Mick Foley themselves, but for me the clash between Taker and Mankind is the single greatest match in wrestling history. Those two horrific falls. Mankind fighting back, unmasked, concussed and _literally_ barely conscious, but still giving Undertaker as much hell as he's taking. The thumbtack bumps. And above all, that absolutely _spine-chilling_ moment when the medical party wheeling Mankind out through the entranceway stop half-way and out of the huddle of people bursts _Mick Foley,_ the hardest son-of-a-bitch to ever walk this Earth, tearing free from from the restraining hands of a concerned Terry Funk and rushing back down towards the cell, ready to keep fighting his hated adversary. The crowd reaction is just _inconceivable._ It may have been stupidly dangerous and should really have been stopped, but it's the perfect embodiment of why wrestling is such a great art form.
Thank you for giving Becky and Sasha the shine. Also new day vs usos is wonderful too so thank you for shining them both. Hope Sasha vs bayley, if it ends up in the cell, does even better. And the Roman beating coming to jay uso will be even better.
That makes my top 10 list for HIAC matches. Also Y2J and HHH had history before HIAC, and that makes the match even better. Having chemistry and bad blood makes for a great match.
@MATTEO BIONDILLO definitely agree with that. I love the last man standing match they had in 2000 and the HIAC match. The Wrestlemania match was not main event material.
I am so happy that Triple H vs Batista and Edge vs Undertaker are so high on this list. The first on was the match that made me a fan of profesional wrestling, and the other is not only my favourite Hell in a Cell match but also my all time favourite match.
#5 is my favourite ‘Non-pre-taped’ match of all time. So good. Story, in-ring work, bit of extreme, twists, finish. Everything. All there. All done so well.

I still disagree with Taker/Mankind being above Taker/HBK, as it isn't really all that interesting or good aside from the two big spots everyone remembers. Taker/HBK on the other hand is a brilliant match from start to finish and naturally builds to the big spot from the top. I'd even go so far as to say that Batista/HHH as well as HHH/Cactus are better HiaC matches than Taker/Mankind.
Every time I watch a Blampied video, I nearly give up my own journalism career on the basis that I could never write anything that good - 'Spooky Oink the Murder Pig' is genius.
I thought the best of the modern cell matches was Ambrose vs Rollins. The only thing that hurt it was the hologram ghost. The rest of the match saw great spots, that recalled cell history, like both men falling off the side, and being stretchered off, only to restart the action. The story telling was also great with that nice callback to the cinder block spot that put Ambrose on the shelf. Had the Wyatt interference been pulled off better, which itself was a callback to the debut of Kane, then I think this match would be fondly remembered.
I was at MW 28 and I was up on the top part of the statium. When HHH hit Taker with those chairshots on his back I heard it from all the way up there. It was almost like I was front row from how loud it was.
Jeff Hardy v Randy Orton 2018 is a super underrated gem, it’s great wrestling, has amazing spots, and gets pretty damn brutal for the PG era. Way more than Banks V Lynch in my opinion
Shawn/Taker 97 is still the best to me. It had mystique being the first, you knew for certain that Taker was going to get his revenge for Shawn costing him the strap. It was clean, crisp, and powerful. 5 stars
Everything about that match was perfect. Of course we can’t forget about the best debut (my opinion) Kane. The undertaker never had that look till that moment. That tombstone looked deadly.
"It's a lumpy, ugly (inverted commas) "match", that stops dead twice as people tend to Mick Foley to make sure he hasn't stopped dead once". That line almost made me stop dead laughing! Adam the Blampied FTW!
So glad Taker vs Edge was on here. A culmination of a rather long feud between the two, edge finally not being helped by anyone or given any kind of advantage due to a relationship with management, Undertaker being well rested after his "banishment" at TLC. Such a good match.
I was 12 years old when I watched the Undertaker vs Mankind march back in 98. My mom freaked out so bad when she walked in and saw what I was watching, but I never forgot how much I learned to respect Mick Foley that night.
Yes,thank you Adam for saying taker pushed Rikishi off the cell and didn't chokeslam him. I can't believe how many people have argued with me when I've pointed that out on other vids.
Thanks for giving props to Batista v Triple H at Vengeance. First wrestling pay-per-view I ever watched and specifically for that match and man it did not disappoint. Little miffed you didn't mention the spinebuster on the steel steps though. I'm pretty sure my 10 year-old self thought Trips would never walk again after that monstrosity.
I remember my friends and I losing our absolute MINDS when 'Taker kicked out of THAT superkick and THAT Pedigree. We had seriously resigned ourselves to the Kliq politcking their way into ending The Streak together, and we went absolutely MAD in that way that only drunk fans in their own apartment could.
I know its probably a work, but mankind rolling off the stretcher after taking the table bump from the top of the cage made him a legend to me. That bump would have been a perfectly fine ending to the match, but for the man to decide to come back for even more punishment was just iconic.

The undertaker vs randy Orton match was a real underrated cell match and the undertaker vs batista match
"Bouncing around like Tigger doing a shot for shot remake of The Raid."
GOOD. GAWD.
Every time I watch a Blampied video, I nearly give up my own journalism career on the basis that I could never write anything that good - 'Spooky Oink the Murder Pig' is genius.
Who else is happy that hell in a cell is getting some of it’s mystique back
I thought the best of the modern cell matches was Ambrose vs Rollins.
DX vs Legacy ! Shawn selling his bad leg and back in this match is gold. I personally love the story telling in the match :)
DX vs Shane, Vince, and Big Show is really underrated. I’d also put HBK vs Triple H on here just for the plain fact they went 50 minutes in there.
Triple H vs Kevin Nash is very underrated, it was simple, lots of brawling but it was very intense and well done IMO.
"Spooky Oink the Murder Pig", laughed my ass off
I was at MW 28 and I was up on the top part of the statium.
Adam for me that 6 man Armageddon hell in cell match was the biggest main event ppv of that year. Fully enjoyed from start to finish.😉😊
Including usos vs new day means this list is legit
#underratedmatch
Amazing list! My favourite of all time is Brock vs Taker at No Mercy 02!
Undertaker Vs Brock at No Mercy 2002 is one of my favorites
So glad Taker vs Edge was on here. A culmination of a rather long feud between the two, edge finally not being helped by anyone or given any kind of advantage due to a relationship with management, Undertaker being well rested after his "banishment" at TLC. Such a good match.
JR's reaction to the barbed wire chair is also pretty funny
Adam, I love ya, brother. Keep going with the great work pleas.
I was there live for Usos vs New Day and it was so awesome! Even Shane vs Owens was great as well. Was an excellent event overall
Yes the KOTR 98 HIAC match that was a cautionary tale to use the match sparingly, that was used immediatley 2 or 3 times on RAW that summer.
9:57 is just great wordplay about Foley and the match.
I was 12 years old when I watched the Undertaker vs Mankind march back in 98. My mom freaked out so bad when she walked in and saw what I was watching, but I never forgot how much I learned to respect Mick Foley that night.
The next one should be the best Survivor Series matches/moments
Plus side, it’s occasionally used as a big feud ended whenever it gets that big when it isn’t October or that one time it happened outside of October.
I love this list because it got my top three favorites!(no order!)
Triple H vs Batista
6 Man Armageddon
And Edge vs Undertaker
I was there for the Uso VS New Day and I'm telling you that was the best match on the card. It had everything and the crowd was soo into it.
