I actually have the Benoit tribute episode on VHS tape. Yeah. I was a teenager at the time and my grandmother would regularly tape episodes for me when I was away from home. I happened to be away on a camping trip the night it happened. By the time I returned, the whole story was public. I've never watched the tape but I saved it. I don't know why. I usually taped over them after I watched them. It felt special. Dreadful, but special.
The fact the PPV event kept going after Owen Hart had died basically in the ring is unforgivable and Martha Hart is 100% in the right. The event continued in a crime scene. It could of been worse with the referee in the ring almost being in the right place to be killed either as well or instead of. Owen Hart had been inducted into different Hall of Fames including the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, Legends Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame (located in Texas)

I just want to speak my mind. I find it disgusting that WWE refuse to acknowledge a man who pretty much revolutionised Vince’s own company, bringing technical masters like Benoit, Angle, Guerrero and Jericho to the top of the company. However I understand the circumstances but I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to completely ignore a great figure head in the world of professional wrestling
It's a sticky situation. Sure, at the time it's unlikely that Benoit even knew what he was doing, but he still did it. Yeah, we can always remember and celebrate Chris Benoit the wrestler, but that won't change what he did.
Their silence comes from guilt. They still hardly care about their wrestler's health today so imagine how bad it was back then. Obviously, you can't blame them for what Benoit eventually did, but their disinterest in their employee's health certainly resulted in more damage to Benoit's brain. If they acknowledged him they would have to admit their guilt and there is no way in hell Vince would do that.
