I think it’ll be great for buyers I just had a situation where I ordered something. completed The order the guy had in the meantime sent me a $2 off the item and then somehow put the order through and then kept messaging me and telling me that I didn’t pay for it so now they want me to buy two the same item. It was insane. I would love to have done that cancellation button because I would’ve canceled immediately after placing the order, realizing what he has done some sellers out there don’t know what they’re doing lol by the way, thank you my friend for explaining this to us we get an email. Sometimes we get to it sometimes not right away lol
My biggest complaint is people who bid on items and just never pay! No cancelation or contact! They just ghost you! You've wasted time sitting there for a week in limbo! There needs to be consequences for people who waste time and $$$!
it’s when they make you an offer. Most are immediate now but not all. eBay needs to make this 100% across the platform. I don’t have as many non payers now that the have implemented the immediate payment. International is the worse!!
If you're gonna do buy now with instant payment required, might as well sell anywhere else. Ebay is good for auctions but so ridiculous that non payers get only a strike. They should have the money deducted immediately. Seller should send the item then buyer has to deal with bank, collection agency, etc
There is always a reason why ebay does anything and it helps them. By increasing the cancel time, they can show more ads to the buyer to get them to click on promoted listings or send them emails with cheaper listings and get the buyer to click. More money for ebay. That is their end goal, generate revenue any way possible.
This is funny, what you just said happened to me last night. I woke up to a sale and a cancelation request overnight. This new policy is better for the buyers, especially after they make an impulse purchase.
You are right about everything but I have forced many buyers to take items they don't want and it is not as bad as you think. So far none of them really did anything. I might have got one neutral. I tell them up front I am reporting them if they don't honor their bid and I will also block them. Buyers have to stop running the site.

If they want to cancel, I just don't reply to them and ship them item like I did not get the cancel request. A few people get mad and say they will return it and I say NO RETURNS. Some might get mad and say something you can use against them if they try to say an item is not as described. People are generally decent people and don't lie and say an item is not as described. My return rate was only 1% and my negative feedback rate is 0.5% so I just ship them items and ignore the customer. I am really against these people that try to cancel an order. Always block and report the buyer if they try to cancel. Ebay is not a game so I make sure they get blocked and reported.
I completely agree with you on the price shopping thing. I think the real problem is people’s behavior now of not treating transactions seriously because they can always “cancel”. It’s perpetuating this idea that canceling is not a big deal (nevermind that it affects the seller). So basically people jump the gun and just buy something then price shop in hindsight. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Price shop before pulling the trigger. On another note, I’ve got my first Bid retraction from eBay when I woke up this morning.. another crazy thing I think which shouldn’t happen in auctions.
Sounds good to me. I mainly sell on eBay, but I’ll sometimes buy. Nothing is more annoying than a seller taking forever to ship an item. At least now if they take too long to ship, I can cancel and buy somewhere else.

I’m a seller. If I’m out of stock, or can’t find an item, I always ask the buyer if they would like an exchange or would they like me to cancel the order. It keeps me from getting a ding. But……. I just had a seller cancel my order after 2 weeks , I wanted the item & was willing to wait. Seller used ‘Buyer asked to cancel’. I Did not. Will this seller get a ding. What would you do. I had messaged seller multiple times about the item…but they refused to respond.
I also think there are a lot of sellers that don't accept the cancellation and just send the item the next day then say it's too late to cancel, kind of forcing you more into keeping the item when all they will get is a return anyway
The issue I have with this is that I sell sports card,sales a lot of times are based off of player performance and player hype with that being said let’s say player X is on a hot streak, cards are selling and say I buy that player X during one of his games and then all of a sudden he tears an ACL which will most likely affect the value of that card in a negative way. so now that this player is injured, his card value is going to decrease. But that’s OK as a buyer I can cancel, As a seller I’m not HAPPY!!! just my thought great video by the way
I have 80+ % soon to be 100% of my inventory boxed already and I print the lable often within 10 minutes then sort it in a upsor usps tote to go out that morning or afternoon. Now I did have a 170+45 that was labled Saturday night and got canceled sunday and I honored the cancelation as it was still in my outgoing. But i hit the post office at 9 and sometimes 3 everyday but sunday so a majority of these will be shipped within 5 hours. I like the new policy and also pirate ship instantly gives you credit for the wrong label issue so your not getting double dipped on cancled shipping and new shipping charges.
It certainly favors sellers that “adhere to” eBay’s preference of 24hr shipping. Some sellers mark items as shipped using the button and add the tracking later, though it’s not best practice IMO.
I'm all for it if eBay wants to start paying sellers a restocking fee when a buyer cancels! Otherwise this is inviting chaos with cancellation abuse. Why wasn't there anything mentioned how many times a buyer can cancel orders? Its bad enough dealing with non pays, now this.

I don't think it's going to change things as long as people don't cancel after it's shipped .. then I would have to do a return ..... which hurts. I only allow cancellations if the buyer does it before I ship it. I don't ship the same day though just incase. I had someone actually try to cancel a transaction 4 days after they bought it. It was almost there by then. They ended up going through Ebay and requesting return and I had to take it back and refund their money.

Just sold an item last night after they sent me an offer that I accepted. Got it ready today, packed and labeled. Sent positive feedback. Not 5 minutes later they ask to cancel with this excuse “ With the auto buy on (which mine is off) the account bought 6 different of this item”!? “He said, the auto buy is affecting customers on both ends!? I canceled of course, because if I don’t eBay will go with him. I got my money back but got no positive feedback from this whole transaction!
I dont even know what AUTO BUY means? he means he made 6 offers to 6 different people and his card is setup to auto pay because ebay makes you now (almost everyone)....His fault

I got one day after this came out - I NEVER have returns. The info I got did not tell the item and did not give the buyer or ship to name… they included the buyer aka name and had to search from there. This was a plumbing part and with reading the item description that person should have known if it would fit or not. But, they get to return it on their dime and have 23 days to ship the item….eBay pushes hard for you to immediately refund with very little info. Guess is eBay slaves have no right to know basic info…
I noticed recently when you buy something on ebay it automatically says shipped not tracked. So either ebay or the sellers are somehow automatically shipping so you cannot cancel
Buyers will only have more time to hit the cancellation button IF you take more than 60 minutes to mark it as shipped. So if you are like the seller who took TEN DAYS to ship an old photo negative, yes, you ARE going to see more cancelled items. So those who ship fast will be rewarded. Those who don't....

I sell items similar to that negative, I can retrieve items like it and have them ready to go in under two minutes. True, that is not going to happen at three in the morning, but the opportunity exists to reduce the time period that a buyer has to cancel.

I really like Joe and his channel, and I agree with him in principle but he is still wrong about this one. If you don't cancel an order not yet shipped, the buyer can force a return in various ways like RSF says in this video (and that can cost a seller FAR more than just canceling the order.)

I ACCEPT THE OFFER, but instead of saying sold, it says I sent a counter offer. It has happened 3 times. The first time the person paid. The second time, the buyer didn't pay, and I lost the sale. This morning is the 3rd time. Now I need to call eBay...
@RockstarFlipper yes, I found out. So even though you accept their offer. Someone else can still purchase the item before they get a chance to pay. That makes me look like an a**hole. Counter offers and best offers are basically the same thing. If the buyer makes an offer, they pay at that time.

Plus, the notification sent to me should say that I accepted their counter offer, and we are waiting for the buyer to pay! Sometimes, they get paid in 3 days. It is about communication between the seller and the buyer, most importantly. I feel like ebay is creating more problems than helping. I won't do auction on eBay again until this is fixed. They let bidder request cancellation after winning the auction. How is anyone allowed to do that? Especially on holiday items which are time sensitive. Bidder should be forced to pay if they win and if they can't it should go to a collection agency or be deducted from their bank account. So ridiculous how bidders are just allowed to cancel and receive nothing more than a strike.
My items cannot be returned because they are Halloween masks. If winning bidder wants to cancel they should still have to pay and item will be sent. After that if they want to resell it's on them. I'm pretty sure in physical auctions you can't just back out after winning.

One day shipping. Print that label ASAP (all items are pre-wrapped and ready to pull off she shelf) and off it goes. Never a problem.

I don't block cancelled orders. Never an issue. I simply cancel and strike them

I have sent out offers to buyers. The Buyer sends a counter offer. I ACCEPT THE OFFER, but instead of saying sold, it says I sent a counter offer. It has happened 3 times. The first time the person paid.
The second time, the buyer didn't pay, and I lost the sale.
This morning is the 3rd time. Now I need to call eBay...

@RockstarFlipper yes, I found out. So even though you accept their offer. Someone else can still purchase the item before they get a chance to pay. That makes me look like an a**hole.
Counter offers and best offers are basically the same thing. If the buyer makes an offer, they pay at that time.
@@barbarascott2632 it was put in to stop people from going 4 days. If they want it bad enough they should pay right away
@RockstarFlipper days? I'm talking minutes. I just accepted their sale. Give the customer a day at least to pay.
Plus, the notification sent to me should say that I accepted their counter offer, and we are waiting for the buyer to pay! Not a notice that I sent a counter offer for the same amount they just counter offered me. If that really happens, I look like an idot!
Thirdly, I don't make the buyer pay right away. Sometimes, they get paid in 3 days.
It is about communication between the seller and the buyer, most importantly.
I feel like ebay is creating more problems than helping.
What was wrong with the buyer paying when they make an offer? I just dont think it was set up for counteroffers.

I usually cancel order if some asks anyway so this update not any thing new it always been thier
The time frame, the 1 hour vs anytime and the feedback coverage is all new

I won't do auction on eBay again until this is fixed. They let bidder request cancellation after winning the auction. How is anyone allowed to do that? Especially on holiday items which are time sensitive. Bidder should be forced to pay if they win and if they can't it should go to a collection agency or be deducted from their bank account. So ridiculous how bidders are just allowed to cancel and receive nothing more than a strike.

My items cannot be returned because they are Halloween masks. If winning bidder wants to cancel they should still have to pay and item will be sent. After that if they want to resell it's on them. I'm pretty sure in physical auctions you can't just back out after winning.
