Shipping costs are by far the biggest impediment to sales on eBay.
I tend to agree in many circumstances. If someone is on a coast and I'm Midwest. It can cost $10+ to ship a sizable package. That definitely effects purchase price
I’ve done 25-40% off on the weekends & it helps on Sales. This weekend on Labor Day I did 40% off & got like 15 sales.
Learned something new as usual, did not know we could change prices that easily.
You aren't the only seller with slow sales. Before last week, I had not had one sale since June 20th - totally nonexistent dead summer sales. Only two small sale items last week that broke the summer-long slump. I ended my basic store subscription last year and went back to a starter store ($4.95/month) because I couldn't justify the cost of a basic store with not a lot of sales. I'm going to try this and see if I can jump-start things, too!
Try it! I haven't been catapulted into massive sales since but I have been getting 1-3 sales a day since without listing or doing anything else. It's worth a shot! ❤️

USPS jacking up the prices again on Sept 16th so everyone can complain and rate you on your COST OF SHIPPING not realizing that USPS is the problem, not the reseller. Im so over it. When will it end? Its already costing me more then 10 bucks to send anything over 1lb now, no matter what that is. If its over 1lb is close to 10 bucks. Ridiculous.
I think you just saved me. My day job has been overwhelming so I have not listed in months - when I Went in to sell similar and schedule 5 a day the promo button was missing and then a message about rating and they prohibited promos. So I’ve done your trick to bulk drop the price to 50% - so we shall see what happens.

Soooo....all I have to do is cut all my prices in half to get sales? Wow! Breakthrough content 😂. I'm sorry, but really. Obviously many people search lowest to highest price. If your items are consistently the first in that search filter, your items will sell. But it's the fastest way to race to the bottom in pricing and ultimately hurts the value of items if everyone were to do this
Obviously this isn't something that nobody has ever thought of. That's not the point. Sometimes the simplest of acts can trigger sales and get the algorithm back on your side.
Also, this does not contribute to "race to the bottom" I dropped my prices for a very short period and then raised them back up (who knows if any of my items were the cheapest during this test anyway...) The race to the bottom is a problem when sellers purposefully price lower than everyone else and leave their prices there. Completely different sales model - completely different intention.
Also wanted to report even after raising my prices up again - I have been getting at least one day a day without doing anything else (prior to that it was *crickets*)
Subtracting 50% and then adding back 30% leaves you at 35% off the original price. I’m not sure everyone realizes that.

WHY were you suspended, we need details. It is very hard to get suspension, usually they just kill listing and give you reasons. Suspension is very severe action

This was a good video! But the one question I have is if you list an item which may have a higher price, but you also say “Or best offer”, why does the listed price keep someone from making a lower offer? Maybe I’m missing something.
Not everyone wants to send offers. A lot of people just want to buy it and move on. Literally every single sale I had over the first 7 days (not the weekend I was sending offers) were buy it now. No offers
Yeah you can make slight gradual discounts over 90 days to drive up sales. Sometimes the str changes over tge months. If you don't check on it consistently. You can be over priced without realizing it. That could be why stuff isn't selling to. Also hows your str if it's really high stuff should go fairly quickly.

I ended all but 50 listings and slowly relisted back to 250.
Most are one offs vintage and costume jewelry with some better sterling gemstone pieces. Very few exact comps found.
Keep revising title, details and price or doing sell similar. Still very few sales. I have tried many strategies but nothing works.
Should I try your experiment in my case?
It wouldn't hurt to try! Although if your pieces are super unique - you might just be waiting for the right buyer

Maybe like reverse psychology for watchers?? Thinking they should buy it before price goes up again?

We do FBM on Amazon, mostly books, and our sales have gone to hell, only $545 YTD. We're gonna shut that down at the end of the month.
It's about sell thru rate. I used to have 2500 items and only sold 5 a day. No I have a 1100 item store and I sell 10-13 a day. Stick to 50% sell thru.

With the 50% off senerio,doesn't that contribute to the race to the bottom problem? I know that your usually against that
I did it for a short time simply to drive some sales to wake up the algorithm. After a week I raised them back up and I've been selling items daily since 👍 I consider the practice of "race to the bottom" being purposefully pricing lower than EVERYONE and then holding your price there.

@autobuff6598 I gotcha! I do think race to the bottom is 💯 a problem but temporary price drops are a normal part of retail. I think purposefully listing lower than everyone and leaving your price there is the biggest contributer to that problem.
You did 300+ revisions multiple times, which I wonder if revising alone would have contributed to the increase
I revised 300+ items on early friday morning - once. I didn't do it every day. I don't think a revision alone would have had the same result but no way to know for sure. Basic listing refreshes just weren't working for me up until now which is why I was growing more and more frustrated
Nice work, but am I missing something, you had 331 items when you done 50% Off, you sold 29 items, yet when you increase by 30% you still have 331 items ???
The sold items dropped down to a zero quantity and are still technically active listings. I just need to go in and end them (you have to do that manually now

Somehow the edit to buy now didn’t take 🙄 so I had to take 50 at a time to make it work. I took 100 of the oldest ones and ended them so I can sell similar. Wonder how long it takes to improve your status and get it back
Love your Channel, my wife and I have learned alot. Do you do flat shipping or Calculated shipping. We do free on about 85% of our sales we moved over to free shipping a few months ago and it seemed to help. But would rather not do it. Thanks

The AI is really causing issues .. even on Mercari. I had craft item taken down and the reasons they gave didn't apply at all. I contacted them and they fixed it but it's a waste of time. Very interesting experiment. Without a store subscription can you still promote I wonder.
You can still do promoted listings without a store as far as I know but I hate the idea of paying extra to ebay for that. I'd rather find other ways to have the algorithm work in my favor.
I haven't tried selling on mercari in awhile. Maybe I should try again and see 👀 never thought about AI causing issues over there too

I started with local pickup only (scheduled porch pickups) but I have started shipping now! Shipping adds an extra layer but it's definitely doable and I love that I'm completely in control (within facebook guidelines of course)

if you go to your active listings page you should have an EDIT button above all of your listings. Click that and EDIT ALL

Do you mean the roasted nuts? Yes I am! I took a bit of a break in August due to school starting and it seemed like every weekend we have family in town or some sort of thing we were doing. Going to be getting back into it in September and looking forward to Christmas season!

I hate resellers like you because you're killing the business. You're racing everybody to the bottom. Everyone undercuts everybody and eventually because there's always new people coming you can't make a profit anymore. When are people going to realize you can't keep doing this. Cheers Graham
I dropped my prices 50% for one damn week and raised them back up again. Who knows if I was even the cheapest price on these items while I did that. 🙄 you obviously don't understand what creates the "race to the bottom".

I really use to enjoy your videos. Not anymore. Let me start eBay doesn't care about you, they didn't retaliate against you. eBay has to protect themselves and the algorithm picks out certain things like expired items. If the "system" recognizes this it automatically sends the suspensions. Take responsibility, it's your fault you didn't take it down not eBay's. The issue with you partners you had, the huge amount YOU let them screwing you over with was your fault, your store failing..... your fault. You took down 1,000 items that may be an issue? I have almost 3k items and None are an issue. So much complaining. I don't want to see that. I have never had an issue with eBay in all the years I've been dealing with them. I just can't take the boo whoo videos anymore.

How is this a boohoo video? Am I not taking responsibility by saying that I admittedly hadn't been checking the market prices on these items? That some might have incorrect shipping? If you see this as a "boo-hoo" video, I think that's how you're choosing to view it. I'm sorry that you seem to feel like me sharing my failures as well as successes with my audience as a problem for your viewing pleasure. I share these things because I AM HUMAN.
