By the way "Anyone can be Spider-Man" is actually a good thing to do. Because being Spider-Man isn't related to powers at all. Being Spider-Man is related to "With Great Power there comes Great Responsibility". This power doesn't need to be superpower. It could be strong political power or your knowledge or anything. I have a technical question. What does the term "solicitation" mean? I've heard it used as a noun, "the solicitation" and I think maybe it's the description given to comic book store owners to decide if they're going to order it or not? Is that close?
Yes that's generally what it is. It is generally an advance advert to show stores what to expect from the companies to get them interested, and for a chance for those stores to order their copies in advance.
They marketing could have focused on the concept of being worthy, or brave enough to carry the shield. If they focused less on the "hobbies" of the characters, and talked about the influence of captain America within the Marvel universe, it would have sold how others would want to emulate him.

I actually enjoyed this entire issue even more than I thought I would when I pre-ordered it. I'm not sure what's bad about a story showing how Captain America has inspired an entire network of people across the country to try to help others in need. Focusing on the word "unhoused" is a bit silly as it's only used twice and done so fleetingly that I didn't even notice until I watched this video. The one part I did think was a bit silly was how Aaron was instantly such a good fighter and shield slinger as soon as he put on his makeshift Cap costume, but it didn't really detract from the story. It's just a shame that so many so-called comic "fans" will watch videos like this one and let that influence their opinion of the book instead of reading it for themselves and forming their own opinion.

Yes, Ive changed as a reader over time, but i can clearly see a lack of creative efforts and a reliance on bad tropes & lazy distaff “character families” instead of the genesis of creative new characters. A lot of why I gave up on DC in my early days was the “copy & paste” method of “creation”
Im a core cap fan that actually does go buy his comics every wednsday as his comic shop. I made my decision as soon as i relized they used masked caps "Celebration" as a platform for diversity points at a time when marvel has proven they do not give a crap about doing anything with their new cap family members after their 5m of spotlight is done. Ian Rogers, Rayshaun Lucas, Eli Bradley, Joaquin Torres, Radiance, April Manning, The Natural and etc have been new characters that have been introduced to the cap family yet instead of developing them, marvel just offs to replace them after their 5m of fame is up. So what is the point of having any stoke with any of these new "Caps"?
I read a review on Vox by a "trans woman". They praised the fact that a "queer" man and a "trans woman" had been hired to write and draw Aaron, but criticised that he wasn't gayer - specifically that Aaron didn't spend his whole time preaching about the evils of homophobia.
Funnily enough, the story with the gay kid didn't seem so bad, the bad part was the poorly veiled....propaganda is a strong word, but I don't know what else to call it. That soldier was probably yelling at that innocent freedom fighter to smile more.
There are certain heroes I don’t ever want to question themselves. We have enough brooding heroes out there. I want Superman and Cap to always be full blown old school American enthusiast. To me that’s what they are. I remember the first time I read Superman curse and I was really bummed. Supergirl is brooding this month too.
Marvel comics will probably NEVER write Cap as an American enthusiast ever again. Because Marvel is not enthusiastic about America. Marvel wants to lecture everyone on how evil America is. That's ALL Marvel wants to do. Lecture anybody who gives them money.
Whoever marketed this book deserves to be busted to Mail Room or the street. I don't mind a book where Cap's resolve gets challenged as long as he comes through the ordeal rededicated to the cause. I don't especially want to read about Immobilized-by-Doubt Man or Unquestioning Nationalist Man. I like the thought of Cap being an inspiration that prompts Americans to get up when the world knocks them down, fight back when the smart move is to surrender or run.
Seems like there are good ideas here but it comes down to the writer and that is the problem. Cantwell, like Ta Henisi Coates should be kept away from comic books. These companies are relying too much on Hollyweirdos. Where are the new Roy Thomas's , Jim Shooters and Mark Waids?
Couldn't they just celebrate Cap by putting out variant covers for their books on which the characters from those books are teaming up with Cap and some one-shot special in which Avengers and friends make some surprise birthday/anniversary party for Cap where they all reminisce on the great moments when they first met Captain America or fought alongside him? With writers that, you know, actually like the character of Steve Rogers and not think that he is a relic of old ways that bears the name of a country that is designed to oppress people that are not this and that. I think that would make for a better celebration. But what do I know? I'm just a guy who likes to read comic books and doesn't have a twitter account.
Is this a response to Secret Empire? I know it’s been a couple of years, but still… Incidentally, in the panels you showed, the Aaron Fischer character looks more punk rock and less silly-stereotype than I thought he would. I might actually not hate him.
I don't mind cap dealing with today's issue's or with people losing faith in America but cap isn't supposed to repsent the us as it is but what it should be. Cap is the best part of the dream he may not understand things going on today but he understands a person right to be them self. He doesn't have to understand or even agree to fight for your right's to be you the good and the bad. He's a perfect voice for what's going on right now if you use him right.
I bought the issue of Cap which marked 50 years of Captain America liked the story and the art, lost interest anything related to Marvel comics mostly do original content. Although I really liked the outfit of the fourth Captain America her outfit is similar to a original character I created.
This comic was good enough I'll get the next issue and see where it goes. First issue was "ok", but the series has potential to become better. A side note, I have found this true sometimes for established characters, like Marvel. A different creative team can cause my inner inflexible fan boy to bristle because they're not writing and drawing a main character the way I have liked in the past. I did NOT like Fantastic Four Life Story issue 1, but after I got used to it, I loved issue 2. Indies often go the other way A new indy series will have a great first issue, and then fizzle out by issue 3 or 4.
In that one shot Cap looks almost like his chest wss draw by Rob Liefeld ... Also: so we're going to celebrate Steve Rogers' anniversary by making him Crap instead of Cap?
For once, just once, I'd like someone to write Captain America that didn't just want to use Captain America to criticize America. Like this isn't new. They've been pulling this stuff since at least the 70s. And what's strange is it means there's this weird disconnect between who Captain America actually is in the books vs. who the general public thinks he is.
That anatomy is horrible! I know Liefeld had the same issues but at least he was interesting. Those necks!! This guy needs more lessons. How’d he get a book?
This story is kinda dumb. It's crazy how bad the marketing shot this story in the foot. And wow. That was some of the most depressing shit I've ever heard spewed from Steve Rogers. And they want us to get excited about the character with this? And I didn't realize that painting a trashcan lid makes you a capable fighter...
Got to the end of the video before I found out that unhoused is a politically correct way of saying homeless. Why do these people have to play word games, messing around with meaning and language.
I enjoyed the 1st appearance of Aaron Fisher and his origins. Pure instinct and a rough road. He is finding his own way in the world. Hopefully he gets better and grow.

I know it’s been a couple of years, but still…
Incidentally, in the panels you showed, the Aaron Fischer character looks more punk rock and less silly-stereotype than I thought he would.
Don't know.
I read a preview of the comic. I'm going to wait for the whole comics books come out and then buy it .
Homeless Man to the rescue!
Are the slaves making Disney toys?
It may be worth reading but is it worth the price?
So that overweight guy at 9:15, which issue is going to be *his* Captain America story?
Indies often go the other way
A new indy series will have a great first issue, and then fizzle out by issue 3 or 4.
It's a #1 issue. I bet it sold a ton.
Endless #1s!!!
thats been the name of the game in cap books over the last few years , all the other characters in the book are more heroic !
In that one shot Cap looks almost like his chest wss draw by Rob Liefeld ... Also: so we're going to celebrate Steve Rogers' anniversary by making him Crap instead of Cap?
Currently the best American Superhero is Japanese and his name is All-Might. UNITEDO STATES OVA SUMAAAAAAAAASHU!
Thanks for the review.
This just feels like more pandering.
Seems like the more successful Cantwell has gotten the more preachy he’s gotten. Too bad
Dumb story that this might be, I'd still buy it for Dale Eaglesham's art.
That's so unhoused!
That anatomy is horrible! I know Liefeld had the same issues but at least he was interesting.
Those necks!!
This guy needs more lessons. How’d he get a book?
Yikes. They really do hate him. That's pathetic!! Lol
Is it a good book? No. 😄
wait til you get to the Filipino cap named ballsack
This story is kinda dumb. It's crazy how bad the marketing shot this story in the foot.
And wow. That was some of the most depressing shit I've ever heard spewed from Steve Rogers. And they want us to get excited about the character with this?
And I didn't realize that painting a trashcan lid makes you a capable fighter...
Got to the end of the video before I found out that unhoused is a politically correct way of saying homeless. Why do these people have to play word games, messing around with meaning and language.
Marvel comics 2021 lol
This is just the Captain America Batman Inc.
Perch really sounded like a sourpuss in this review.
The unhoused....HAHAHAHAH!
That art at 3:40 is really bad
That's one of the stupidest stories I've ever heard of. Using classic characters to virtue signal and promote agendas. Poor Cap
I enjoyed the 1st appearance of Aaron Fisher and his origins. Pure instinct and a rough road. He is finding his own way in the world. Hopefully he gets better and grow.
It's disappointing.
Why would we liberate europe when we could just bring all europeans into the united states.
I’m just wondering when are “they” gonna go back to drawing attractive characters… enough of the fringey look…lord almighty i’m sick of it…
This is Captain Commie with preferred pronouns you HAVE to use.
Darn, I thought this was a review video. Oops! It's just White Male Rage. NEEEEXT!
