Apart from what Simone's doing in Uncanny X-Men that pretty much describes all the current X-Books, but I'd also add obligatory crossovers or tie-ins to try and boost sales of failing titles.
All that's missing is : - Scott Summers' day and life are ruined again by X, Y or Z. - This out-of-character moment isn't the writer's lack of knowledge on the character showing : It was just Mystique pretending to be that someone.
I always felt like this is a plot device that works one time. Once the characters have met, there's no reason to keep having "misunderstandings". The only way it really works is if the characters have a legitimate divergence of goals. For example: Blade is trying to hunt down a vampire in Moon Knight's territory, and the vampire claims sanctuary at the Midnight Mission, having done no harm on the Mission's turf. Or The Punisher is trying to kill a villain whose testimony Matt Murdock needs to clear a client, and Frank' best chance to do the hit is on the way to the courthouse. There are ways to have the hero fight without the characters being dumb. BTW, if your plot requires the characters to be dumb, it's a bad plot.
I can understand characters acting stupid If It is due to a character flaw (like arrogance, shortshitedness). But having heroes fight over misunderstandings was already tired in the 70s.

What I meant was when characters need to do dumb things, that are out of character, in order for the plot to work. For example, Hal Jordan getting in over his head in a bar fight is in character, because Hal's confidence is bulletproof, bordering on arrogance. Peter Parker doing the same thing would be bad writing. (I would argue bar fights are dumb, no matter who you are, but I hope that clears up the point I was trying to make.)
If you read the next issue in the crossover, there’s a stated reason why both teams are so aggressively attacking each other and why they’re all acting irrationally, But it’s just as unbelievably stupid as the rest of the premise. All of a sudden, there’s a new surprise factor in the situation that I don’t think really works.
Its ironic that an old guy like me is saying this but x-men just feels.........old. at this point we know what the characters are going to do and what works best for them. "Cyclops did a heel turn? Ah ok but he still shoots laser beans and leads the x-men so whooptee doo"
After Civil War (both), AvX, IvX, and Schism, someone needs to stop Marvel from hero vs hero stories. Until they get the basics down, they need to avoid the complex stuff.
The X-Men are over for me. I don't read the books anymore but I feel bad for the fans that have a spark of hope that the franchise can full recover from the damage that Krakoa did for these chracters and this new Era being another huge disapointment.
You'd think Marvel would put a lot more care and effort on the flagship titles like the X-Men and Amazing Spider-Man Sure, they sell regardless but there's also the matter of the quality they have since that's what they reflect on the imprint as a whole; instead they're stuck in a rut for what they think is the "core essentials" when people are not clamoring for that
I honestly felt lost in this issue. There's (apparently) a lot of tension between these 2 teams, but there's no explanation of it. So, there's a lot of needed context that isn't there, hasn't been established, or even hinted at besides sone terse words between Rogue and Cyclops. It's just frustrating.
You don't have to tell us the heroes fight each other. It's a Marvel crossover. When don't they? It's one of the few things even the current MCU gets "right".

@InfamyOrDeath-__- Two things. One, the server covers multiple towns in the area, but it's very dominated by people from a different town and nobody in my local area is participating anymore. Two, I'm noticing that the dominant participants get very trolly in their comments and reactions. I casually posted yesterday that I beat a Dynamax Cryogonal solo and how difficult it was and a number of people posted this "mega shrug" reaction and I'm like, okay, I don't need this. One particularly dominant commenter had a long rant about how I was cheating because I had my wife log into my account while she was in England. (I didn't *know* this was considered cheating and FFS, it's my wife.) The funny thing is that several people in the group have multiple accounts and that's definitely cheating (I don't really care) and I haven't seen him call it out. So, w/e, I'm done there.
It means not reading the bad Marvel or DC comics, and sending them a message. Maybe Gail Simone isn't cut out for comics anymore, and should go someplace else. The same goes for a ton of other comics writers as the moment.
I know I'm late, but I want to point out that the cover art is based off of Marvel vs Capcom's cover art and I like that little nod to the video game seeing as the collection came out this year. That's all I have to say about this issue.

When Cable and Bishhop went back in time during the Dark Phoenix saga which from 1980 in real life. Cable and Bishopric saw “Kamala Khan” along with Claremont’s X Men from the 1980’s trying to reason with Dark Phoenix. I am so sick of Marvel pushing Kamala so hard. It makes Kamala more and more obnoxious. I literally can’t stand Kamala. Especially from NYX where Kamala figured out Sophie was double agent of Quiet council. Kamala figure Sophie cuckoo was dead when Prodigy and Hellion join Xavier, off screen. Lanzing and Collin knows I am on to them. So they fixing their mistake but they end up giving Kamala a Mary Sue moment. Cable and Bishop went into the future where Bronze, from Exceptional x Men is adult. I need to check out Exceptional X Men. I can’t be worst than Lanzing and Collin’s NYX. Future Bronze showed all Marvel’s Future events. Since this video is about X Men, I’ll tell you X Men’s future events. *False Metal.* This might be tied to Saladin Ahmed’s Wolverine about fake Adamantium. Of it could be more Metals in Marvel universe. *Who waits within the Last Egg?* This might be the last Egg from the First Krakoan era. I do hope it is Surge. She deserves better. *Ms Marvel Second Genesis.* Oh great let remind that Kamala’s mutant powers are changing. She might be going back in time to team up with X Men from the past. And Lastly. *XvX* This could be the current X Men crossover or there going to be another X Men Civil War. I don’t know maybe there should be another. On a scale of 1 (not at all bad bad) to 5 (Bloody God awful), I'd put it at a 3. The art is consistently above par, but the story is meh, and the dialogue ranges from fair to terrible.
Examples of terrible dialogue by Gail Simone on Uncanny X-Men: Rogue's accent being unreadable. Gambit's accent being plain French then swutching to some 18th century Cajun one. Anything out of Jubilee's mouth. Nightcrawler saying he liked furry parties as a clap back to a teenager calling him furry for his fuzz as a weak taunt. Rogue calling Wolverine Ground Bear and giving him a PTSD diagnosis in the same sentence. If anyone else feels like adding onto this, go ahead. I have a feeling this list will only grow longer.
Well, if this 4 issue crossover between 2 books doesn't hook you, there is an 8 issue crossover between 7 books coming in March! I hope McKay is off X-Men soon, he's to good for this garbage.
If anything he’s proven to be unable to write compelling villains and is better suited for solo titles such as black cat and moon knight and not team books.
The Mackay issues of this event were definitely better than the Simone issues. The big problem is nothing actually happened. They just left without even revealing who "Prisoner X" is. The two X-Men teams didn't even fight for long because the bad guys got in the way very quickly. And Rogue's characterization was just off. It's also bizarre for her to try to pull the "you're working with Magneto" card in the final issue when Magneto hasn't been treated like a villain for well over a decade and she is both his former lover and good friend. This was a complete non-event and pointless.
I was hoping to jump on to the reboot, but ended up not even giving it a chance. The creative teams are not to my liking. They immediately sprayed almost like a dozen titles at once. I’ll wait for the next one. However I’m stocked for the Spidey relaunch

I’ve always hated Superheroes fighting each other. I hate it even more when they fight because of stupid reasons.

I’m far more shocked now when the X-Men are actually written in-character like themselves than when they’re not. They’re in such a mess right now.
