Dude, one night I was hanging out at my friend's house around 4am after a rave and everyone was asleep except for me cause I was on acid, watching music videos and this song came on... needless to say that music video took me on one hell of a trip! If you've seen the music video you could imagine that trip...
That bassline holds it all together, and the drumming keeps it moving, the guitar and backup vocals fill in and create atmosphere, and finally Thom voice carries it.
"There, there" is a common British expression that someone uses to calm someone else down, e.g., a mother might say it to an upset child as she gives them a hug. You should watch the official video for this. It's a really cool, creepy stop-motion video. Also, you might want to check out a live version of this. The other two guitarists, Ed and Jonny, are playing drums in addition to the drummer. It's pretty sweet live. Thanks for listening to my favorite band (along with Yes). Peace from SF

Never 'got' Radiohead from the OK Computer album back in the late 90's until 20 years later, in 2017, watching their Glastonbury, UK, performance...and boy did it all finally click into place! Downloaded 10 albums the next morning! Forgot already how fine this track is. Nice.
Radiohead, tool, and deftones are among some of my favorite artists. A solid discography, and a solid band where every member Thom, Johnny, Ed, Colin and Phil (Clive and Godrich) really deliver gems.

Totally agree. And they’re a band you can see several days in a row and still not have a lot of repeated songs. They typically practice 70+ songs while on tour. As much as I love Tool, they pretty much play all the same songs in the same order almost every night on tour, with just a few changes. That’s been my experience, anyway. Doesn’t stop me from seeing Tool a couple nights in a row, though.
"there there" is a tongue-in-cheek way of not giving into someone distressed over their perception of reality. "it's ok......there, there"--as you pat him on the shoulder.

Phil Selway on drums seems to provide a rail driving through the music that everything hangs on or coalesces around . If the drums were searching for there own stand out moments , competing for highlights the music could not work , and as a result his work shines through completing these works of art .
