If I had to make some recommendations I’d highly recommend “Let Down” which has a moment where Thom’s voice literally always gives me chills, “No Surprises” which has a very deceptively positive sound to it, “Climbing Up The Walls” which has an excellent portrayal of anxiety through music, “How To Disappear Completely” which is just a gorgeous song, “All I Need” which is my second favourite and just sounds amazing (Highly recommend you list to the Basement version) and my personal favourite Radiohead song, “Daydreaming” which is just pure emotion with a beautifully somber sound to it.
When you mention "No Surprises" I just have to tell a life changing story connected to this song for me. OK computer was released the summer of 1997, and then my we were expecting our first child. Both my wife and I were listening a lot to the record and "No Surprises" was my favourite song on the record. In December, my wife's pregnancy had complications. And eventually in december the doctors decided that they needet to do Caesarean 11 weeks prior to the term. I was asked to sit outside the operating room so that I would be there for my son when he got out because he would need body contact to improve the likelihood of him surviving. In the hall I was waiting in, there was an elevator with an alarmsound that was just the same sound as the opening sound on "No surprises". Then of course my head was full of this song and I thought please "no surprices" now. There was a few surprices over the next three months, but my son was strong as he is also now. And that song will forever be one of my favourite songs with the most powerful connetion ever!
Same. If you haven't heard it already, I love their live performance of it from the Ten Spot. Interesting side note: Radiohead has said that Street Spirit is their only song that doesn't have any hope in it. I have to imagine that's why it's so tear-inducing. It's just tragic darkness, beginning to end, with no relief. Sure is gorgeous though...
Ten years ago, Radiohead's drum technician, Scott Johnson, died when their stage collapsed, shortly before they were due to perform in Toronto. One night, as the band had returned to the city, they demanded answers over his death. "The people who should be held accountable are still not being held accountable," Thom Yorke told fans."The silence is [expletive] deafening." The band then held a minute's silence before playing Karma Police. Pointing at a photo of some govt official dragging their feet at the time on the Jumbotron …. ‘Karma Police, arrest this man…’
My friends, after me getting them obsessed with radiohead, visited my ex in yorkshire at a pub (we all get along it's fine) and randomly sat next to an old couple who turned out to be Scott's parents and they all got chatting and had a lovely evening.
OK Computer is one of those rare albums that can only be truly appreciated by listening to the enitrthing in one sitting, especially with a lot of Weed
Thank you guys for doing this one. Always loved the piano and of course Phil's drums here. Other Radiohead to get to: Everything in its Right Place, Optimistic/In Limbo, Idioteque, Exit Music(for a film) or anything from my favorite Radiohead album The Bends- Just, Street Spirit(Fade Out), Nice Dream, Sulk, Bullet Proof(I wish I was)
Pumpkins and Radiohead became popular right around the same timeframe. Siamese Dream which had Disarm and Today and Mayonnaise and Radiohead's song Creep came out around 93, but were considered more alternative rock than grunge. Radiohead from UK and Pumpkins from Chicago. Off hand I'm not sure which Radiohead songs you've reacted to, but Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry, Paranoid Android, No Surprises and Let Down are great songs. I'll agree that both Thom and Corgan have such unique voices, but I feel Corgan's is more whiny.
I kind of already knew Radiohead was named after a Talking Heads song. I’ve seen them live twice, once on their Hail to the Thief tour, and also on their In Rainbows tour, and they were just amazing. Like many folks, this was the first song I ever heard by them. I highly recommend checking out ‘Everything in its right place’ and ‘15 Step.’
Thom’s voice makes me feel weepy on this, but I made it through 😁. I will suggest “Lucky” from them. Props to Hollywood for remembering Thom’s full name and to Smokey for guessing the song so quickly. Have a good one guys!
PLEASE Hollywood...pop some shrooms or DMT, whateva...and react to Radiohead - Pyramids. You think TOOL takes you to another level, wait till you hit Radiohead with psychodelics. Even No Surprises or Everything In It's Right Place...puts you on another spiritual level. Absolute art. :) Love you guys. X
Morning guys! Such a good song! Happy Friday y'all! Have a good weekend!!!thanks guys!❤️🤓(I been watching you guys over a year now I think, and I absolutely love how y'all breakdown music! And the great conversation you guys have about a myriad of things!)❤️🤓
Did you say Instant Karma? That’s a great John Lennon song btw This whole album (OK Computer) is one of my favorites ever. When I was in art school, one of my teachers used to play it in class… which sounds like a very art school thing to do 😆 The first three songs are like some kind of holy Trinity to me… Airbag, Paranoid Android (which y’all did for my birthday last year 😊) and Subterranean Homesick Alien, which I always say is like the musical equivalent of a lava lamp (seriously when you hear it you’ll know what I’m talking about)… No Surprises is another favorite on that album, but… given Smokey’s fear of drowning idk if he should watch the official video 😩😆 Then there’s Planet Telex and Just from their album The Bends… love those too! I think y’all would like the beat in Planet Telex 😊 Haven’t seen the video for this song in awhile but from what I recall, it’s just Thom Yorke sitting in the backseat of a moving car (chasing a dude or something…?)
well earned pat on the back Hollywood 😅 Radiohead was classed as Indy pop in the UK with their first 2 albums, but..they've become steadily more prog rock/experimental as they've gone on. Oh, the ending of this song...it leads in to a spoken word AI voice poem called Fitter Happier and the crashing computer noise sort of carries over before getting faded out entirely
Try "How to disappear completely" but honestly since they're the most original and unique band in the world you could listen to almost anything post Pablo Honey.
Not gonna lie, my mind first went to Karma Chameleon before I finished reading the title. XD Needed that laugh. Shenanigans aside, Radiohead are amazing and i hope you guys check out a lot more of their work in future. The album this song came from, OK Computer, is by far my favourite album of theirs and one I'd recommend listening through in its entirety at some point whether that be for the channel or just personal enjoyment.

Enjoy the ride!
This was played to death in my country back in '97, it's only recently that I've been able to appreciate it again. I'd say that y'all should do a song from The Bends next - their best album IMO.
Yup - Radiohead gets people talking about philosophy :) An incredible band, and one not afraid to experiment with their sound. I'd suggest one of their older songs, "Bulletproof" and one of their more experimental numbers, "Everything in its right place".

Nice reaction and discussion.yes, love that you do more than a brief reaction then or and have a good chin-wag about the song afterwards. Radiohead music changes a lot over the albums and they experimented, usually but not always, with good results a lot over time. Would love to see what you think of Talk Show Host, National Anthem and Burn the witch.
A person explained to me that the common understanding of karma is that a person gets what they deserve, to put it simply. And under that concept, you would need to include people like rape victims, homicide victims, and children with cancer to name a few. I think a better idea is that things happen and that it. Because let's face it; bad thing happen to those who don't deserve it, and good things happen to those who don't.
Radiohead is all about the journey! Listen to whole albums. Kid A and Ok Computer would be a good start. I have always seen them as my generation's Pink Floyd. I saw them in Cleveland at an amphitheater in 2001 and it was hands down the best musical performance I have ever seen.
On another note, I absolutely love Radiohead - Street Spirit is A+, please review Shed Seven - Chasing Rainbows 🌈 or Disco 🕺 💃 Down. Or if you want to even attempt local Scottish lingo try Gerry Cinnamon - Belter, Where we're Going, Canter or Lullaby.
There is a video for this and it's dark. One of the best lines of all time..."I've given all I can. It's not enough. I've given all I can but we're still on the payroll." That's definitely life as I've experienced it. The philosophy of Karma basically says if you are wicked in this life it'll come back to you in the next, which is why he's so tired after doing all he can. I don't really believe in Karma but this is a powerful song.
Another thing... the lyrics weren't *exactly* right. It's "Fewww... for a minute there I lost myself". Like it was a day dream... like whoo that was weird... adds another layer I think...
Radiohead are to today's music what Pink Floyd was to music from the 70's and 80's. Always on the edge of commercial success yet an entirely seperate entity continually innovating and redefining their sound.
Could do a great mash-up of this with Sexy Sadie - The Beatles. The piano at the start of Sexy Sadie is very similar to the piano after ‘This is what you get...’
Please listen to “Paranoid Android” it’s a long one but it’ll take you on a RIDEEEEEEE My bad, just saw that up already did. And lemme just say how much I love watching you guys. Always come back to make me smile!! We could totally chill n listen to tunes!!!💜💜💜💜💜
Who knows what’s real for real? I’m open to every thing though and that’s my belief. 😂 love Radiohead! “No Suprises” “Let Down” are a couple faves. ✌🏻💛🎼
The whole OK Computer album is a masterpiece. Radiohead is a genre of its own
The first CD I bought by myself with Mezzanine from Massive Attack ... I can't tell how many times I've listened to them
Radiohead is somehow the worlds most underestimated band.
Every album is it's own masterpiece. It's really stunning how they've developed their sound.
You should give Kid A a listen. Idioteque is amazing

@@frankw4135 Every time. Just so good.
I’m a huge Radiohead fan, I’d really like to see a reaction to “Exit Music (For a Film)” and “No Surprises”.
That whole OK Computer album was pretty good for its time.

Fake plastic trees too.

You guys need to watch the ‘From the Basement’ sessions Radiohead did - especially the ‘In Rainbows’ one. Absolute perfection
Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out) is my all time favourite by these guys. Always brings me to tears.

Best song ever
You're so right. This song is too intense, to much full of pain
A timeless classic! My top 3 from them for sure. Yes, there is a interesting memorable, simple video for it as well.
Dope reaction.. Ok Computer is an Incredible album!
