- The commercial fishing method to tie on snoods to the main line to catch bass, skate, cod and various other fish species. Quick and easy to replace
the pro way is to use swivels on the main line and tie two knots on each side of it close to it but with a little space. also we use bonded twine size 24 for 100 hook lines to commercial fish but we use 12 floats per line also and a railroad spike as weights between each float.
It’s hard work to tie knots in 500m lengths of rope. We do use swivel lines, but they have a plastic moulded seizing each side of the swivel. We don’t use floats, as we want the gear hard on the bottom, we use a small anchor every 25 hooks (10 foot apart) as this fishes better
@@beanysfishing2555 ya same here i have around 1300 foot lines. the trick is to put on all the swivels and push them up the line as you go tie a knot from the main line spool side slide up a swivel then tie another knot from the main line spool side. but ya it takes a couple hours to do just the swivels on the line. i do the 10 foot between also. and ya its hard work i just made 10 this past week. still got two left to put just drops and floats on.
I learned from the Vietnamese in port to do a modified barrel knott it wont slip over time . if the end frayes on a full hitch it will slowly come off
There is a knot on the end of the snood to stop fraying. This method makes it very quick and easy to replace damaged snoods
Maken trawl, ehh
We call them longlines in the U.K, but I’ve heard them called trawls in US videos
@@beanysfishing2555 yea, I should clarify for some that a trawl and a trawler are to very different things.
sometimes I call em longlines to but useally when in the water though,
