  • I've been dreaming of getting laser eye surgery my ENTIRE LIFE and I finally got it done! I was afraid my prescription + astigmatism would prevent me from getting laser eye surgery, but I was able to qualify for PRK. i had CONTOURA PRK/Lasik with Dr. Rany Woo. Contoura is the newest, most advanced technology that personalizes your treatment so the quality of your vision will be much better than with older technology (it's like getting HD vision instead of settling for SD). this was a lifechanging procedure and I am so, so happy 😭 I vlogged my entire pre-surgery, surgery, and post-op recovery so enjoy! ♡

    Thanks for the video ! I got PRK surgery 4 days ago and this video helped me prepare quite a bit for what was coming. A lot of people say day 3 was their worst day but mine was day 2 for some reason. So if you're reading this about to do surgery, make sure to do all your drops! And if you're not feelin so bad day 1 don't fall for it and look at screens etc, just rest rest rest.

    I've been looking it up for a while now. I practice boxing, and martial arts. Therefore PRK is actually my preference over the other techniques. It is absolutely encouraging to see you going through this process this smoothly. Thank you. I know that it'll be life changing.

    We have similar vision! just did my Lasik and PRK two days ago. I also have astigmatism in both eye. Had to do PRK in one eye and Lasik in the other. Best decision I have ever made omg! My sight is getting better by the minute.

      Wow so you are the perfect person I can ask... do you see (no pun intended lol) a difference so far? I originally went to my doctor for a Lasik consultation, but he strongly recommends PRK. Not for any other reasons other than his personal opinion, because I am a candidate for both. Its probably too soon, but please if you don't mind sharing your experience and your opinion on everything I would be so grateful!

    I just had PRK on the 15th. That fira day was brutal! My eyes were so irritated & not being able to rub them just intensified the feeling. My eyes were swollen shut for the first couple of days, so I just listened to my book on Audible all day until about day 3 with an ice cold rag on my eyes. The contacts came out (which was SO nice) & I could ditch thos god forsaken sleep goggles! I'm on day 4 post-op & it seems like every day is significantly improved. So glad I did it!!

    heres mine,
    day1: just dry eyes, not a whole lot of pain
    day2: worst pain ever out of no where, my eyes were constantly crying and i couldnt keep my eyes open for more then a sec.
    day3: little to no pain, light sensitivity is slowly going away
    day4: hardly any light sensitivity at all other then sunlight
    day5: just constantly lubing up my eyes and ready to get these contacts lens out
    day6: Uknown bc i got mine done last Fridays and its currently Wednesdays but the trouble should all be over. i did get a very very very small amount of water in my eye and that eye has been a little blurry since but i think i just dried up the lens so hopefully when that gets pulled out then itll go away
    im also 22 so my eyes might heal much faster then others

    *I had prk and I didn't get medication... I wanted to rip my eyes out of my skull I was tearing up, and snotty, couldn't open my eyes, for about 12 hours.... I had/ have a billion pf systane eyedrops and the steroid & antibiotic drops.... I feel like I'm constantly putting the pf drops in but I've used about 20 vials in 72 hours... I have one of those magnifying mirrors to help target my drops.... My vision was worse the first day but it seems fine now.... Just rocking acetaminophen if I get that eyelash in the eye feeling and pop some eyedrops... I'm basically rocking the moisture goggles around the clock to keep my eyes moist
    ... Zero ac/ heat as to not remove the moisture from the air .... Changed my phone to the blue light blocking settings and nighttime mode, and have my lights set to 5% (dim, I just have fancy lights) .... Not taking any chances the first few weeks

    were you told about EVO ICL? the recovery process compared to PRK is way better but it is a more expensive surgery. I didn't qualify for lasik either because my corneas were too thin and my prescription was much higher. I got EVO ICL - an implantable CL in your eye and my recovery was 1 day without pain. so it is a different kind of refractive surgery.

      how old are you? dr woo recommended getting it in your mid 20s when your vision stabilizes! lasik is a lot easier in terms of recovery bc you open a layer on your cornea, laser it, and close it back up but PRK it's basically just an open wound BUT same results at the end!

      @eightdecay5585 Wasn't bad. They gave me meds to calm my body and help me sleep afterwards. My eyes were numbed and it took a few seconds under the laser. Alot of eye watering but if you do your eye drops, advil, and rest as much as possible the pain and discomfort isn't too bad. I had some pressure in my head and bridge of my nose but it started to calm down within the first 5 days. I'm still in recovery and not able to drive yet but I'm just taking it one day at a time. Eventhough I will still have some prescription left, I'm seeing better than I've been able to do in 32yrs. Highly recommend.

      how much was your prescription, if you had a bigger number like 5 or more, that’ll cause a haze with PRK. are your eyes still dry? do you take systemic medications. my advice is consult your local eye doctor to further investigate. good luck

    • @RasenRambo23
      @RasenRambo23 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your eye will always be dryer after the procedure than they were before. Those nerves don't regrow to the same strength as they were before. It's a permanent change to how your tear feedback loop works. I'd suggest you strongly consider SMILE, ICL, or not doing refractive surgery at all.

    • @RasenRambo23
      @RasenRambo23 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not with the new EVO lens. Cataracts have been overcome with this technology. Yes, the eye has to be opened. But that opening is on the side, where no light has to pass through for you to see and it's tiny compared to the cut of LASIK. In any case, SMILE beats LASIK in every scenario as a laser surgery.@@nahventure3873

    • @Rashid-sl4mg
      @Rashid-sl4mg หลายเดือนก่อน

      correct normally at the late 30s and 40 your near vision capacity to focus decreases. so If you are 40 yrs old and have done PRK or laser surgery, your near vision will be affected and may need glasses for near but this young lady in her 20s can still see close distance despite the PRK treatment.

      Yes, PRK is very uncomfortable while your are healing. I had it done in 2021 with -6.00. I will tell you, though, that I experience large starbursts and ghosting around light at night. It is ugly and distracting. You need to have the surgeon measure your mesopic pupil size before. My vision has also regressed slightly. Think about whether these risks are worth it to you.

    • @Rashid-sl4mg

    I'm thinking about going under the laser for LASIK or PRK surgery in the coming year (Depending on which one I'd be qualify for). I do have a question. In majority of the cases for reflective eye surgery patients experiences mild to severe permeant dry eye. Is that the case with you?
