    9:20 the PCB files are called Gerbers Files, even if the files are no longer gerbers. What you need for servicing are 4 layers from the gerbers files. Top components, top silk, bottom components and bottom silk.

    • @faeranne
      @faeranne 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      interestingly, I'm pretty sure the Board View files are still distributed in Gerber format. Kicad has a gerber viewer that supports part placement files... which seem to be exported as part of the gerber export. That also could just be Kicad, so ymmv.

    • @TheSiriusEnigma
      @TheSiriusEnigma 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@faeranne Altium Designer and Cadence OrCad, use OB++ not gerbers, they can still generate gerbers but it is not recommended. Essentially, those files are CNC type vector coordinates used to control the machine that makes the lithographic plates used in PCB manufacturing.
      Most PCB manufacturers will simply convert your gerbers files into whatever their machine uses.

    • @TheSiriusEnigma
      @TheSiriusEnigma 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mr Guru the component level contains the actual part names, pads and links between pads. They are only visible in PCB view mode, not printed anywhere.

    The fuse blew because it wasn't an Apple product.
    Fuses typically don't blow because they are part of Think Different™ Apple product.
    This fuse is a rebel. it's doing what it's supposed to do.

      Its more a rebel when it wont do, what its supposed to do. When its thinks its punk and starts a house fire.

      "This fuse is a rebel.", indeed. It didn't appreciate the lower voltage of the power brick, forcing higher currents.

    Yep, you're not asking for the kicad or altium pcb design files.

  • @szaboaz
    @szaboaz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it be difficult to make these PCB-s water (and therefore corrosion) resistant by coating the surface with some repellent? Is there an obvious reason they don't do it?

    In your discussion of "board files" you left out the lawyers. Whatever you ask for, the lawyers say "NO". I'm curious about D7020 ... why have two diodes in parallel? and Why does Q7010 have two source pins, 5 & 5A?

    • @DFPercush
      @DFPercush 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just guessing, but it's probably a current limit thing. The bleeder circuit (2 diodes) sounds like it's discharging some capacitor, but it's weird why they wouldn't just double the 10k resistor to a 20k one if that's the case. I dunno. As far as the mosfet with 2 lines going to the same place, maybe it was just easier to make 2 traces instead of changing the width to accommodate the necessary current. Who knows.

      Louis is on the low side of curse talk level, I dunno if that's due to self censorship or youtube - e.g. he says 'freaking screw' to a stripped one - they do deserve a lot more colorful expressions than that.
