The power of +enemy% items can’t be understated on this character. Due to the base reduction, they are insanely good for Jack’s eco. For example, going from Jack’s base of -75% enemies to the slightly boosted -70% is a 20% increase. Getting to -65% is a 40% increase.
Awesome, glad to hear it! I never went away though so if youtube's been hiding my videos as it loves to do you might want to turn on channel notifications :) You got it! I'll add brawler to the list.
Jack is a REALLY tough character for me, I've found that half laser pistols, half revolvers is the best mix since the revolvers have the DPS to kill the little guys or just finish off a wounded heavy while the laser pistol's massive alpha chunks heavies and elites. It also balances out the costs since revolvers are one of the most expensive weapons in the game while LP's are cheap... the game also tends to drop LP's a lot more in the early waves so you don't have to waste money on rerolls.
Nice guide mate, jack is the last character for me ,had an issue on wave 20 twice, but your excellent guide has helped big style ,thanks again mate 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Ceph from the UK. I have watched tons of ur vids but im normally on xbox or via my telly so its not possible to comment but i know it helps u so i linked up my phone! You've really helped me out loads, I always come see your take after getting hammered with a new tata a few times. I like it when u trail off at the end of sentences sometimes and u sound loaded. I dont know how to explain it but i reckon we would get on irl. Ok this is getting wierd so Thank you!!!
@27:40 - Did you calculate the dps of revolver/minigun properly? Remember that the Revolver has the long cooldown every 6 shots. I think you calculated revolver dps as if it constantly fires at the same rate, which is obviously WAY higher.
For the Minigun vs Revolver, you didn't take into account that the revolver takes ~2 seconds every six shots so you need to divide the DPS by 2, then multiply the Minigun's damage by 1.5 because it pierces for 50% damage. Doing the math the Minigun does ~200dps The revolver does ~150dps and has a ~2 second cooldown every six shots.
This class is the only one that has made me truly mad. Regardless of how much damage I build, my own ability to react to elite attacks is just not sufficient enough to survive my first elite at all. I die to the first elite every time, without fail. it is enormously aggravating that nothing I can buy before this elite will save me, simply because I'm not good enough to avoid it's attacks.
I built full laser pistols and got it D5 second try! My thought process through the run was to treat myself like a sniper and kite out the enemy as I dished hell on them. Got anvil, power generator and a few range-boosting items and my man was a beast. My second D5 after getting it with knight, high risk high rewards kind ofstyle.
Had a good run going with 5 Revolvers and 1 Nuclear Launcher, but I built too glass-cannony and died to the first elite. I should've focused the boss first instead of minions. It feels great popping aliens with Jack, and having a ton of materials on the ground. I tend to take Alien Tongue every time as it's saved me by picking up consumable heals from a distance. Thanks for the guide as always!
Thanks very much! Yeah with Jack it's even more important than normal to burst down the boss quickly, which is why the summoner bosses are so rough. Definitely one of the characters that cares most about *which* elite you get
Just finished with 6 revolver jack on danger 4. I failed more than 20 times. You made it look easy but it's incredibly hard. Edit: I cleared my first danger 5 with jack 6 laser pistol with taking white flag in around wave 10 and candle ať wave 20 so both bosses was almost alone and I could dodge easily and burst them down. Best run yet.
Early game, why the commitment to Revolvers? If you're considering Laser as a good option for Jack's gimmick, there doesn't seem to be a downside to mixing a few of each--they both have the same single tag and scale of the same damage stat. You could have easily picked up a couple lasers in the first shop to have triple the weapons and maximize payout and safety for the first few waves.
Sure, you can definitely mix and match! There's a pretty good example of that in my Soldier guide I think. In this case I mostly wanted to try out a weapon that I don't use much, but there's definitely nothing wrong with grabbing lasers there as well
Baby Elephant is a very good damage item on Jack so long as you have high Luck, of course. The enemies all drop tons of materials so each individual enemy drops a ton of potential damage. It's even better if you're doing a non-Laser build since you're not looking to 1-shot enemies, so chip damage is very useful. Cyberball, on the other hand, is bad since it triggers off enemy kills rather than dropped materials.
Melee is just the most consistent build for Jack because built in piercing 17:00 melee makes this boss free because of the piercing cleaving the minions and pushing them back Guns need piercing or explosions for it to be consistent.
Sure! Melee builds can definitely work (and melee is mostly better than ranged in this game). You do need more precise movement for melee on this character though, due to the incoming damage. I think this build will give the win most often for the most players, but lots of things can work!
Not a fan of melee on Jack. Being so close to enemies is way too dangerous

I didn't do the math, maybe you did. Considering the cooldown of the revolver every 6th shot, I wonder if it wouldn't be more efficient to level up the highest level revolver instead of the lowest one for Jack. It would ensure to one shot the little guys and could (maybe?) save some bullets. What do you think?
Sometimes you say "i would buy it, but I'm not gonna lock it" I don't get that. If it's worth buying, why not lock it and buy it next round for the same price?
It means: this item has a small positive utility, but a random shop item has a higher expected utility. (Note that a random shop item clearly has a pretty large expected utility: otherwise, never buying anything in the shop would have been a viable strategy.)
@@jonb2756 This only takes into account the likelihood that an item is helpful. You may be right that the likelihood that the replacement item is at least as helpful as the current one is less than 50%. But that doesn't take into account *how* helpful. The replacement might be, say, 25% likely to be *many times* more helpful than the current item.
Something that I noticed about a possible shop buff.... It looks like the shop is geared to giving Laser Guns in three runs in a row I had a silly number of those things show up including having built a lvl4 by round 12. I didnt find a level 4.... i made it using 1's and 2's. May be worth looking into.
You're absolutely right! What you're seeing is that the shop is more likely to roll weapons you already have - both ones that share tags with your existing weapons, and ones that are exactly the same as one you already have. So once you buy one laser, more will follow!
Personally really liked sticks on this guy. Primitive helps with the increased enemy damage and sticks have high enough base damage to spend more on defensive stats. Ended up with 40 armor at wave 20, no chance of killing bosses but no problem with the ads.
I'm actually working on a video about this, so keep an eye out for it soon! The most important advice I think though is to play the Sick early to unlock the whetstone, that enables lifesteal builds tremendously.
I have no issues clearing everything, but dodging the bosses is a real issue for me. It stresses me out. Also, since they soak so many shots, I run into issues clearing the little things - but the little things are dangerous, because we're basically a glass-cannon until wave 15.
Some things that help aren't helping as much as saving your cash for other items. Some items require farther investing into stats to help make useful. Here he's going for hard hits. Turrets aren't going to do that without strong investment which takes away from the focus of the build he's showing. There's always freedom to play your way and It probably won't be the difference of life and death. Thru the lower levels of play. However it definitely won't scale to higher levels.
FWIW I've found Jack to be the toughest Danger 5 run yet. The Level 11/12 Elites are just so grim, and I find dancing within tiny circles of Doom very tough. I finally managed to make it through with Sticks, but never managed to defeat any of the elites/bosses.
It's definitely one of the hardest! I think the pure damage revolver build is easier than melee, since you don't have to dodge as much - the hope really is to just instantly delete those bosses so you aren't under pressure to avoid their attacks.
Took me about 14 hours to get a Jack win on Danger 5. I used Lightning Shivs for most of my attempts. I died 3 seconds before the end on one of those runs. In the end, I won with 4 Laserguns and 2 Obliterators. Elites died in about 5 seconds. Made it to wave 38 on that run, my highest for any character.
@@Cephalopocalypse Oh by the way, I have a request. I want you to do a run with a character of your choice, but you must use cactus club and scale ranged damage.
This is the last achievement I need to complete this game and it is so frustrating. This is BY FAR the hardest class to complete. I've tried building it so many different ways. I either build tanky, can't kill anything and get overwhelmed, or build glass cannon and die in 2 hits in the later waves. I just want to be done with this game...
I don't think letting the alien hatch is ever worth it unless you have damage high enough to instantly kill them. They only produce 3x material than a small enemy and they often take way longer than 3x the time to kill them. I feel like your time and damage is better spent killing more smaller aliens.
Your movement and doodging are neo like 😆 Im so bad at this game so i did 5 dificulty with every champion expect Jack, and my best strategy was to mix good dmg with survive so i can take every bullet in the game and survive. Jack is definitely hardest champion in game - you must build glass cannon (wich i really dont like) and your revard is only okayish dmg (not like other glass cannons nuking all map like speedy guy, pistol guys and crits guys). More mateials and less are nice benefits but 50% dmg taken and +250% on boss are so hard. I'll try with revolver instead of lassesers i always try.
God I hated this one. Carefully prep a build only for an alligator to charge offscreen and not adjust within a few seconds for the second charge and dead. I have to admit when it finally popped off, it really popped off. Bosses started dying in seconds.
