Dear Katriinka, great choice for a first reaction to them. They have so many great songs. The Bass singer is Tim Foust. The Bass singer for Pentatonix was Avi Kaplan before he left. Home Free is one of the more versatile groups in that each member can sing different parts depending on the song. Even the beatboxer sings occasionally, and the other 4 have all done lead, harmony or even a little beatboxing depending on the song. One where they all really shine is arranged by the beatboxer, the Christmas song Do You Hear What I Hear.

The studies on the attractiveness of voice boil down to genetics. A woman is more attracted to a deeper voice because it suggests that the person has higher testosterone and would make better offspring. Also, if the deeper voice is accompanied by a bit of breathiness it increases the attractiveness as it sounds less angry.

This song is a cover, not a Home Free original, however this arrangement of it certainly is. It was formally published in 1913, but was an American folk song of unknown origin long before that. More recently, it was widely popularized in the Coen brothers film _O Brother Where Art Thou (2000),_ a movie well worth checking out, about the adventures of 3 chain-gang convicts on the run, and their itinerant-guitarist 'accompanist' (a word that they, comically, have a hard time saying). These characters sing and play the song in the context of the story, but instead of actor George Clooney who lip syncs it, the actual lead vocalist is Dan Tyminski of American bluegrass and country band Union Station. The hapless quartet hear about a paid open mic at a nearby AM radio station, and scam the blind DJ, who pays by the head, that they have more band members than are actually present. There they sing this song, unaware the DJ is secretly recording them, and the track 'goes viral' -- or the 1937 equivalent. It's a really fun romp (loosely based on Homer's _Odyssey,_ in a Coen-brothers tongue-in-cheek sort of way), and well worth watching!

At the end of Tim's solo you stopped the video which made you miss his lowest notes. You commented on how good his low C sounded but if you listen carefully at 2:35 you'll hear the low, low A, B flat, B, that leads into the low C. Fantastic quality.
This arrangement so beautifully captures the mood of this style of music. On the second beat of each measure there is a Dum, Dum on the flat 7th degree of the scale that is just perfect for this style.
    Great video.

Fantastic band and just as good live! I like hearing Adam Rupp (the beatboxer) get credit in these react videos, people tend to focus on the bass (Tim) but Adam is insanely talented! ( well honestly they all are!).

@@poinsettia12 bass isn't my thing either lol Live I find Tim really impressive but not my focus still. Austin (typically tenor) is actually my favorite personally along with Adam.
Tim definitely is a huge draw for the band as a whole though, he's an incredible bass for sure!

Tim Foust (Bass) is from my neck of the woods! Nederland, Texas, U.S.! I’ve played fill in guitar for his cousin’s country/new folk band a few times in the last few years, and Tim even came out to sing one time when he was off from tour. They did a closed seminar at my audio program in college back in 2013 too! I’m a metal guy, but I absolutely love Tim and the Rest of Home Free! Me and Tim still talk every now and then.

welcome to Home Fry nation. Adam (2 time world champion i think beat boxer and harmonizer) Rob 2 Octave Harmonizing Tenner (large guy with glasses and beard) Austin (High Tenner red head lead in this song) Chance (bearded no glasses doing Jaw Harp sound who is a4 Octave Baritone) and Tim Foust the SUPER BASS. (5 Octave Bass who also has a wide Tenner range). they change lead positions depending on the song and if you are curious and are willing to search a bit you can find songs they each do to experience their vocal ranges. Fair warning though. Tim has a vew video's where he has unintentionally blows some speakers with his low tones xD. A good song that can give you a taste of his ranges are "Your Man" and a mashup of "Let's get it on" and "Thinking out loud" (Marvin Gaye and Ed Sheeran respectively) . There are plenty of others but those 2 i think give you the widest vocal ranges for Tim but you can look into any song they do and they each have their own unique sound. Enjoy jumping down the rabbit hole ^^b

I have said many times before, girls will scream and shout and faint when amazing tenors belt their sounds, but when the basses come out to play, all the girls just melt into puddles of goo. I'm a natural baritone myself but I wish I were a basso profundo. That's where the magic happens.

Glad you caught that super Bass line of Tim's just after his solo. Lots more for you to listen to.
