    Can you do a "how to" on how you'd advise to straighten a shaft after it has been bent please?

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matt,
      I have tried to teach many how to straighten, no one has been able to do it accurately enough so, sorry not possible to put up a “how to straighten” as it is just too difficult even with the proper tools.

    • @trinifishstix

      step 1. put shaft in jaws of table vise
      step 2. bend accordingly
      step 3. visually inspect (repeat step 2 if needed)
      step 4. go shoot fish

    Please please please make a video on the different types of shaft materials available on a speargun. It is very essential to know the different materials and their durability as well as strengths. Not to forget their specific uses. There is not a single video on the entire TH-cam platform mentioning the various types steels that are used for shafts available in the market.

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sal, it would be a difficult one for us as we only use the one type, non stainless, because it is the stiffest.

    I broke my shaft trying to straighten it from the point where the flopper goes. What can I do now? I cannot afford a new shaft. any tips of possible fixes?

    Hey Rob,
    Would you be able to do a how to set up a slip tip video? I'm interested in setting up for some blue water action over the NZ summer and some more quality videos like the ones your producing would be invaluable.
    Cheers,
    Max

      Hi Max,
      We don’t make slip tips nor do I use them so can’t talk with authority :)
      Many who used to use slip tips are crossing over to double barbs, more accurate and great holding power.

    • @mischofield
      @mischofield 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** ah my mistake. Two barbs on a single pin? who makes these?

    • @roballen1578
      @roballen1578 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Max Schofield
      No, one barb behind the other. 2 on the same pin make it too thick.

    • @mischofield

      ***** Where would you suggest getting two pin shafts from for RA guns?

    • @roballen1578

      Max Schofield
      It’s personal choice, some enjoy some don’t feel there is that much advantage. Personally, I use them :)

    Dear Mr Allen, have you thought about to add a middle hook point in the shaft? I do lots of shore spear fishing and I found my shaft tip got blunt easily as hitting fishes in caves. If there was a middle hook point in the shaft I didn’t need to power the gun in full power it can be really convenient to shoot the fishes in near caves and didn’t need to worry shooting the stones too hard to either blunt the tip or shoot into the stone and can’t take it out?😂 Cheers, Rui

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rui, we get many requests for this. If we fit a pin it needs to be welded. This welding will weaken the spear at that point and be very likely to bend there. Same thing if you cut a notch. There is a way to use your hand to slow the spear down, Just clamp your hand around the rubbers when loaded, slightly ahead of where the rubber ends when the rubbers are slack. you can chock a gun like this so much that the spear will not get out the muzzle. It does not hurt the hand, especially when using gloves. Remember the rubber will increase in diameter as it contracts, it actually pushes outwards into the hand. It does take a little practice to know just how mush to choke.Once fired, you van clamp with the same hand onto the spear if it has not exited the gun and pull the fish and spear out before the fish has a chance to go back further into the cave. I will do a video of this one day.

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Juan, You need to do it by hand, very difficult and takes a long time to learn. If it is bent in the barb hole then not a good idea to try straighten.
