- I finally got Tesla Full Self Driving (FSD) version 12 (12.3.4) on my 2017 Tesla Model S!!! This is my genuine first drive using the software!!

Only wish my SO was as accepting of this incredible V12.3.4. Of course, as much as I do love her, she was one of the last people in the world to enter the smartphone market (I don't need all that stuff, she'd exclaim every time I tried to persuade her) but now she's an iPhone warrior and spends more time on hers than I do mine. So I guess what I'm acknowledging: it just takes time. Keep up the vids!

I see you are on 2024.3.15 in your 2017. My 2018 is now on 2024.8.9. Seriously makes no sense why I havent gotten the trial yet. Still gonna wait and see what Tesla does. Great video. Thanks.

Did you get the FSD appear as a software update download on your phone app or S... or did you avail it as an upgrade on the app to get the trial version FSD12.3.4…
I bought FSD in full not long after I bought the car. It came with NoA so FSD was $5k additional at that time (3 years ago!)

Hey there, you inspired me to buy FSD for my 2018 75D.
They updated my FSD computer which unlocked FSD 11. Did you say you needed to ALSO update your MCU in order to get V12?
You got v11 with MCU1? I haven't heard of any cases like that. If you have MCU2 and v11, then it might just be a matter of time before you get v12. What software (not fsd) version are you on?

Well, you don't need to reverse unless you screw up the u-turn. If it did, I guess I'd have to take over

@@FrugalNotCheap Thanks... currently running 12.3.6 on a legacy MX. Can't wait for 12.4+ I have not noticed a centering issue.
I'm hopeful we'll see some improvement! That's good you don't have the lane issue, it's only at the very beginning of the drive for me but irritating still, since I never had a problem before
How do you know you have the special "Legacy" edition of Model S? It doesn't say it in mine anywhere. Also, what additional features does the Model S Legacy edition have that the standard Model S doesn't?
Edit: Asking because I got V11 FSD running and am curious about 12.

No worries! It sucks that only MCU2 get FSD right now, I hope they either do a free upgrade to MCU2 for those who paid for FSD, or create a build for MCU1 cars
The narrator said: FSD is a Smooth driver, but a bad decision maker. That is an interesting way of describing FSD 12.3.4
But after almost *four* *years* in beta, a bad decision maker that requires human interventions on any challenging drive, that is not something that people are going to trust.
FSD is currently a Level 2 assistant. Nothing more. Full autonomy is a long ways off.
We'll see! It all depends on how quickly this new methodology improves Planning. Big improvement over v11 in that department, so we're moving in the right direction again

A video went up on TH-cam a few days ago. It was reviewing FSD 12.3.4 in San Francisco. The video was about 1 hour long.
There were many interventions and disengagements on that video. FSD is nowhere even close to driving like a human.
FSD does great, on a rural road with few other cars.
That's not my experience here in the DFW metroplex 🙂 It's not there yet, but it's very impressive
@@FrugalNotCheap I agree, it is very impressive. It almost gives the illusion that it can drive like a human being. But in challenging conditions, the truth is quickly revealed: 100 percent human supervision is required. Have a nice day!

Assuming you have the necessary hardware and have purchased or subscribed to FSD, and you have a version of the software installed with FSD, then you just need to go into Autopilot settings to enable FSD, and then it will engage instead of Autopilot when you pull the stalk

IT HAS TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE MIDDLE LANE ON UNPROTECTED LEFTS
It follows the dashed lines much better with v12 compared to v11 on left turns - good example coming in this week's video! Much better than humans, who are often encroaching in my lane during the turn. And indecision on lanes mid-turn is gone as well, that was awful in v11. Not perfect, but making progress
Wait, did you mean the island/median like it used to do in v11? Yeah, I miss that and hope they train it back in
@@FrugalNotCheap yeah it can’t just wait for both sides of traffic to become clear on those unprotected left because as soon as someone pulls up behind you they’ll be super annoyed you’re taking all day to make a turn

Yes, I bought FSD 3 years ago. They upgraded to HW3, but I couldn't get FSD until they upgraded the cameras to RCCB, and I started with v10.69.something - I have old videos from back then :)
