    Great Video! I went to Holland Bowl Mill last week after watching this video. I live an hour away from there. I mentioned Nutmeg Notebook and was able to get the free mezzaluna knife with my order, which was over $125. I bought the 13 1/2 " beech bowl and several other wood items. I bought that size as I have a small kitchen with limited counter space. The craftsmanship there is beautiful and the people are knowledge and nice. Chopped salads with the bowl and knife are fantastic. I'm eating salads daily. My husband, who is not plant based is amazed at how much salad I'm eating. Thank you for helping to encourage people to eat more salads and other plant based dishes and give us the tools and techniques to be successful.

    Just watched this salad video, after finishing my "first" chopped salad. To put it in perspective for anyone like me who has never had one: I had a 5 oz. container of baby spinach and a 5 oz. container of mixed greens, and I only used a good handful from each container. I added 1/4 of Red Bell, 1/4 of a Green Bell Pepper, 1/4 of a Red Onion, 1/2 an apple - and chopped. Then I added my toppings which was 1/2 an Avocado, 1/2 a Mandarin, 1 hard-boiled egg (not vegan yet), and I gotta tell you - that was a LOT of salad. So, when you say that it takes 40 minutes to eat one; I believe it. Because after watching this video, I see you added so much more food. It must take some time to acclimate to being able to eat that much salad and cooked veggies. Holy Moly. I'm so impressed Tami. So impressed. Thank you for helping all of us searching for a better way to eat, and for ways to try and lose some weight.

      Your salad sounds delicious! I have been eating a big salad for lunch since 2013 when I adopted a whole food plant based diet so I guess I am use to the volume. I am glad you are enjoying the videos. Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you won't miss any of my new posts or recipes. Thank you for your support. www.nutmegnotebook.com

    My husband and I enjoy a huge meal salad for lunch daily as well. Unfortunately we’re still working so I have to pack mine up, but with a little prep work and dedication, it’s doable! Thanks for the lovely presentation and ideas! I pickle red onions in a spicy brine so I don’t use any salad dressing, but my husband might enjoy your balsamic dressing. I’ll have to look it up.

    I have one of those kind of choppers, but it has 2 blades instead of one. I like it OK, but I’ve noticed that my salads are more watery and soggy when I use it, because it releases all the water that’s inside the veggies - especially extra watery veggies like romaine and cucumber. Normally I like a drier salad because it’s easier for dressing to cling, and not drip to the bottom of the bowl.

      Keeping is really sharp could help, chopped salads are wetter however.

    Ooo, I feel I research project coming on... Does it take less time to eat a chopped salad, and if so, how much less? The Corelle bowl is a great idea. I was eating a salad yesterday and getting very frustrated because the bowl was too deep. Corelle dishes are wider and lower sided, so they're easier to get into with your fork.

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does take less time to eat a chopped salad and they take up less room as well. We love our Corelle bowls for our big beautiful salads. Plus I think food looks amazing in white dishes. Enjoy!

    I just bought this Holland Bowl using your affiliate link. How do you wash, and clean it? Do you need to use wax? And how often?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We wash it with a tiny drop of dish soap and a little water - never immerse it in water, rinse the inside with water and dry it thoroughly with a kitchen towel. How often to oil it depends on how often you use it. You can tell it’s getting dry by it’s appearance. We have a video on how to care for it. You also should have received a little card with the bowl with instructions on care. Happy Chopping! th-cam.com/video/gaqCmBfMw-4/w-d-xo.html

    How do you keep Apple in that mix without them changing?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some varieties of apples don't oxidize like the Opal apples. I no longer add apple or cuties to my prepped salads because sometimes I don't want the sweetness of the fruit in them. Be sure to subscribe to the blog and get 2 exclusive recipes for subscribers only. www.nutmegnotebook.com

      1 pound wild rice - 4 cups water - multi grain setting on the Instant Pot which is 40 minutes. Natural Pressure Release or Manual Pressure Release. Comes out perfect every time.

      @@fionawhitfield925 definitely not a lot of food in terms of the salad alone. I think that is the point, Satiety will be your guiding light on a plant-based diet. The problem with many protocols people follow is the satiety factor. A huge salad covers that.
