I've not only played it, Iv'e replayed it multiple times, NG+ included. Its such a standalone title, and its more leaning to the Metroid side of mvs. What I really love about this game asides from the atmosphere, story, and overall feel, is the dialogue all the NPCs have, its so non-bs, and down to earth relatable, it kind of catches me off guard, and I love the characters, especially the ones you can tell are slowly losing it, Ive got early signs of senility, and I find it relatable. I know this map like the back of my hand, and I find this gave very replayable

whoa, this game is so hauntingly beautiful. lots of games can be haunting or beautiful, but it's a rare experience for me that something embodies both elements consistently. i could just hang out in the atmosphere as you were describing it

This was a fantastic, well articulated & straight fair synopsis/review.
Seen enough “ragging” on the game &, sure…I felt the same frustration w/the game I’m quite sure most felt.
It’s so mysterious, beautiful, dangerous, dark, isolated yet serene-I did catch myself thinking “man this “could” have been possibly one of the best side scrollers made yet…something is missing”
You nailed it. Even w/out thoroughly explaining “what was wrong”; anyone that’s played it will immediately know what you’re talking about
What really captured it as a game to stand on its very own even still, you explained very clear
I too hope the dev understands how truly magnificent his game is (been plenty of criticism)-to where he’ll do another

Dude, we gotta extract that thought about "youness" when playing games int o a video one day. I've been thinking about perception a lot in how we enjoy games--some people will excuse any artistic flaw if something about them makes them feel a certain way. We do it all the time with confirmation bias in politics, for instance. This is a really interesting rabbit hole of human psychology I wanna unpack one day
Its definitely the biggest separation between video games and all other art forms. I also think its the main reason why "" gamers "" are so fucking passionate about the art form. I would like to ponder it further!
@@Sputnik34 what kind of blows me away with this topic and the one I've been slow cooking for years now about what constitutes an imsim and how little you can do to qualify as one, why labels matter at all, etc. is that they get so big and hard to stop spiraling into other topics

The minute you begin this game, you want to know more and more about the enigmatic protagonist. Along with the world and people within it.
That door confused me but when I got my first blaster mod, I shot it while the eye was out and it opened. Helped a ton with getting to the camp super fast
Nothing i did opened that door. Very unfortunate :'(

The big issue I have with Ghost Song is that it has contact damage on enemies. That does not work well with how the combat works in game, so it leads to a lot of enemy encounters being much harder than they have any right to be.
I want to like Ghostsong, but it looks and plays so stiff. Visuals are a mixed bag- which is one of my gripes with hollowknight as well, backgrounds look decent (this game)to great (HK), but the main and npc characters and enemies look terrible imo... and the animations don't help much. I also don't care for the menu visuals as well... which is a shame because I was really looking forward to this game before it was released.
There should be a demo on steam. I would say at least play the demo. It's a meaty portion of the early game and really gets you a feel for the game and it's atmosphere
