PS: This was recorded earlier in May. You can find our full written review of the 22 here: www.doctorsofrunning.com/2024/05/saucony-triumph-22-review-2024.html PSS: Hey
I get everyone is mad at Saucony for what they did to the Triumph But you have to understand that their line up lacked true max cushioned, easy day shoes to compete with likes of Hoka. The new Triumph and the Hurricane are Saucony’s answer to the market’s move towards max stack super comfy easy day shoe for the casual runners, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Wish Saucony would of stuck with the snappy cushy Triumph 21 and just tweaked it to be better. I have been buying up the 21’s to last me until something better comes along. So far I’ve tried just about every shoe imaginable that is similar but nothing compares to the 21.
Thanks for the video...I was waiting for this comparison for long time. I bought 2 pairs of Triumph 20 and one pair of 21 and used them mainly for easy, long and uptempo. Couldn't agree more with your review... they feel perfect for these kinds of runs especially long ones. Now that it's almost time to buy a new pair of shoes I tried the Triumph 22 and I was surprise how stiff it felt under foot hence I end up not buying it. I'm sure they are not as versatile as the previous two iterations and was wondering if they can perform well for other runs than easy one? Also, do you think they will get as soft as the 20/21 after some mileage?
I almost bought the triumph 22 since I found out that its outsole was replace to powerrun pb which was used by Endorphin Speed 4. I think the Ride 17 was the perfect replacement after triumph 21.
Went with the GT 2000 12 (I am neutral runner) instead of this for the upcoming Comrades Marathon. Used the Speed 3 last year and it was not so good on the downs. Peba needs a wider base to be comfortable over ultras? Comrades hardly has any flats, so hoping that my GT 2000 12s have been watching Matt's GT 2000 12 videos.
I'd be really interested in hearing an interview with Saucony as to why they chose to go down the road that they did with the Triumph. Why pay the extra money as a company to put a Peba foam into a shoe, but then weigh it down/tone it down so that it's not super versatile like we know it can be? I know it protects the legs more than a normal foam but it just seems kind of counter intuitive to put a racing foam in there and then make it not perform like a racing foam? I don't know, maybe I'm missing something
They probably wanted to differentiate more between the Triumph and the Ride, instead of killing off the latter. The more expensive foam may not be that expensive after all, as they kept the price the same. Also they probably did not want to ruin the good name that the Triumph had earned in the last couple of years. Just my wild guess though!
How does it compare to Nike Invincible 3? I just got a pair of these after being in Triumphs since the ISO 5. I love the ZoomX foam, but I don't like how the transition from heel to midfoot feels so sketchy and wobbly. I can almost feel my body bobbing up and down as the ZoomX gives way and rebounds, but it's not like a spring forward the way PWRRUN+ did on the Sauc.
Did you find that the Triumph 21 midsole broke in/softened up after a decent amount of mileage? I ordered some after seeing many great reviews and comments from all types of runners but after 2 runs the midsole feels really firm and dead to me, especially in the heel. As a mid/forefoot striker the heel really gets in the way (had no issue with 10mm drop before). Feeling no bounce at all. I’m wondering if I should persist in the hope they soften up or if I should try to return while they still look fresh out of the box.
I was able to test the Hurrican 24 in preorder... THAT THING IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFT af Mushy mushy totally mushy... Our rep said: "Hoka Bondi, but better".
@@leeheirbaut8154 I can promise you the Ride 17 is not even CLOSE to the Triumph 21 lol. The T21 is a loving partner who wants the best for you and the Ride 17 is a fat, controlling ex who is constantly in your way 👍🏼

PSS: Hey
How big is the rocker compared to the kayano 30 or nimbus 26?

Nike Invincible is a PEBA midsole and not a racing shoe. The shoe is built to be a max cushion easy day shoe.
Freedom 5 has PB foam too
Please Matt no HDR ! My eyes 😢
That color option for Triumph 22 makes it look like a stability of shoes from a few years ago. Other color options might be better ...

How did you go about this? Just got a pair of 21s and they are much firmer than i expected.
THIS IS MY NORMAL SPEAKING VOLUME
It… actually is. Works great for lecturing.
21 so much better

As someone who LOVES the Triumph 21, the Ride 17 was awful 😖 and it made me really sad, frankly.

Talking too fast.
There is a setting on TH-cam that allows you to slow down the video speed! Hope that helps! -Matt
