I had spent so much time this summer doing nothing amidst a few weeks of battling bad sleep and fatigue followed by a head cold. So, I chose to get out for a late night drive, and then, went out to a concert last week. Normally, I'm so concerned about getting all my creative projects done that I don't allow myself the time to do OTHER THINGS because there's only so much time available. But I'm a lot happier now that I got out of the house and experienced something worthwhile. So, getting out of your normal routine, stop thinking about the constraints of time, and just doing something different and getting out into the world will help you so much! Work can be draining, and sometimes it feels like it might cage you in with stress and long hours. Do something for yourself that re-establishes that this is YOUR life, and you need to live it as much as you can.

The commute earlier advice is spot on. When I realised there were showers at my workplace, it allowed me to leave the house half an hour earlier. Because I missed all the traffic, it actually meant I got to work an hour+ earlier which in turn meant that I finished my hours earlier in the day and so missed the traffic jams on the way home.

    I hear a lot that
    Making Progress
    at a goal increases
people's happiness day to day, almost regardless of the goal.
If you can break a large goal like making money into smaller day sized goals and then keep making new ones every time you achieve.
Feeling stagnant is a pretty big day killer.

Getting to work early and taking a route that is more scenic or relaxed is worth getting up early for! You can relax when you get to work if you have an extra 20 to 30 minutes. You can get a cup of coffee, sit down and do something enjoyable for a little while before starting a busy work day!

I have a qeustion for you. (hopefully you will see it or anyone in the comment can help me out on this one) I am currently working out and i used to see this through for one year training 5 times a week because i had this amazing trainer that did a lot of things for free and motivated me by actually listening to me. I have lost that person and now i got someon who switched up my trainings and i just dont like it BUT i have been making so much more progress this way of training. But i wanna get a bit moooooreeee... toned? and i feel like this is the only way to do that cus i can do my flexibility work. I am kinda afraid of switching to things like swimming cus i feel like it wont be as effective or get me what i want. I feel like i need to just stop my gym subcription and go swim for a while and see what it does, no expectations but im afraid i think?

Too many undervalue exercise. The biological benefits of diet and exercise is vital to happiness. I think growth goes hand in hand with happiness. If you feel you make progress on something, it will help you feel better about yourself and thus happier

      @davidzx2292 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I try to encourage positive mindset as much as possible. Try this...think of something (might be big or small) you want to do in your life and set up a routine daily to spend 15-30 minutes everyday dedicated to learning/doing that thing. Seriously, if you give yourself time to improve, you will feel much better about how your day goes. I'd even suggest do it at the start of the day, start with a positive boost.

      * stop overscheduling; leave time to play.
      * stay physically active in a fun way.
      * remove blocks & unpleasant things from life or re-construct them for optimum fun; i.e.: minimise things you don't like.
      * take significant breaks to mentally reset a couple of times a year or so :) i.e.: break routine, on purpose.
      * increase face to face contact.
      * find a way to get creative.

About number 2: I took a simple route. I replaced my idea of always going on a bicycle to work or grocery shopping, and walk to those places instead.
Mind you, I live in the Netherlands, where everything is far more compact than then US, AND I live in a small city where walking from one end of the city to another only takes about 45 minutes MAX.
So how to make walking fun? Audiobooks.
Since then I upgraded into increasing my activity far more with using a smartband.

Dennis M good to know. And same can b applied to most people’s commutes in the AM: the early bird ALWAYS gets the worm. The earliest bird who gets the most rest and eats right and works out and makes time for themselves, their friends, their family and challenges themselves mentally and socially and spiritually is the happiest of all the birds and gets all the worms then sells the worms to all the late unhappy desperate birds.

    In this hedonic adaptation 😃
U remind me with a quote for prophet Muhammad pbuh .( If a man has a valley of gold he will wish and hope that some day he will have 2 valleys instead of one ) so as u said it is in the human nature from the decent time instead we should just accept and feel totally comfortable of what we have now. Meaning these stuffs ,money and cars etc. Should be just in our hands not stuck deepen in our hearts cz one day it will go or even increase but without affecting your happiness .....peace out .

    Starts from 3:22,
    1. Take free time in your day to explore, tinker with new things and play.
    2. Stay physically active by doing activities that are actually FUN. (Meaning don't just be obligated to go to the gym everyday, but do biking or boxing or dance...)
    3. Analyze things that annoys on a daily basis and remove or optimize them.
    4. Take big breaks occasionally (like vacations) to break off from your normal routine to mentally reset yourself.
    5. Prioritize face to face interaction with people over social media chatting and texting.

Accomplishing goals may not bring you happiness on a daily basis, but I believe it is a moral obligation to have them, as fulfillment and happiness generally are a product of seeing things working as you proceed toward goals you value.

I also like going to the arcades and play DDR -> "Shows a clip of him playing Pump".
Anyway, I'm just pointing that out as a funny note. But yeah, I've noticed that having that unregulated time for personal projects, experimentation, etc. makes huge difference, and also, performing physical activities before working end up making me start my work shift with a happier mood and improves my efficiency, which let's me finish my stuff quicker and gives me more unregulated time.
