  • Want 'in' on the Mini comp scene? Have a UTB18 Capra or planning on getting one? A little unsure about how to upgrade to comp levels of performance without breaking the bank?
    I've got a shortcut for you. And I'm giving it away. Because I like you. And crawling. And the UTB18 deserves it, let's be honest!
    This is the HT Feather, a comp chassis for Axial UTB18 Capra which I designed to work with as much of the stock parts of the rig as possible. Let me show you what it's all about!

    I like how you went out and tested out on some rocks instead of the ones you have in the backyard. You are very knowledgeable and I like watching your program

      No worries! I'll have the updated version done with the UTB18 panels to fit hopefully this week. Cheers

    There are a lot of hobbies that 3d printing is helping and changing, and RC is right up there. You cant find what you want? Print it yourself! Want to improve things? Print it yourself. Not something ive been able to get into, as of yet, but its certainly something im thinking about doing, and sharing the initial cost with a mate. 👍🏻

      Thanks! I've just finished updating the design. Will print and test this arvo then I'll upload the new version and send the email to everyone who's signed up so they know the update is ready. It'll be good!

    I found that with some modification of the stock shocks increased the performance of the UTB18 tremendously. I removed spacers and put scx24 springs in the front barrels to suck the front end down. I also have a decent amount of brass on my rig and a hobbywing 1080 in it and it will climb just about anything. This chassis is cool though, I need to get a 3D printer. Great video.

      Thanks for sharing what you've done with yours. It sounds like a real improvement.
      Once I've got the updated design ready, I'll put it on Shapeways as well, so you guys without access to a 3D printer can still get hold of a chassis for relatively little money. Cheers :)

    I was just looking for some 3D printable course cones......and who comes through with a perfect product and perfect timing....you did! Thank you very much! I like the UTB 18 as well but have yet to be bitten by the "less than 1/10th scale" crawling bug just yet. Still love the content tho, large or small.

      Heh, cool. Enjoy those! (You don't have to print the cup and lid, either. There's a hole in the gates so you can drop em onto a fishing line or string, too).

      @davidconaway2830 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RCTNT shoot, I'm printing the cup and lid as we speak. I think it looks like a neat package altogether, and I will be printing several sets. Thanks again!

    Very impressive, I wonder how a furitek motor and ESC would work in this.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not really necessary as the current cheap outrunner gives a good level of control. However, if there is a furitek system of the right size, I'm sure it'd be a good experience. Again, unnecessary, IMO, but good all the same!

    I wanna do this and use my friends bamboo to make chassis…

      It's worth it. This rig is so much better for it, on the rocks - if you can get past my aesthetic design, or lack thereof! (But I have MORE interesting news coming for the UTB18 soon, in early January. Got another manufacturer who's stepped up to help with making these things betterer!)

    Looking up some of the suggested components Craig. The items from Amazon site come back as undeliverable for Aus address. Just wondering if you have a simple work around or l try to find someone that does send to Aus please ? I just find items some times are just not available outside of the US.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Can do. 80% of my audience is USA based so that's where I link things. If you use FB, join our comp crawler group, Melbourne Comp Crawlers. Numerous people have gone down this road.
      Getting a utb18 currently is difficult, though. Hoping Axial sends more stock our way soon!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @HeavyHaulagePilbara they're a brilliant little thing. Still, you can build one up without actually buying the car. It depends what you want from it.
      Now I have a minute, I've looked on Ali and found one for about AUD$450 shipped: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mrLOaQk
      When they're in stock in Australia, I've waited for the ebay sales about bought them for around $330. So this is a premium, but it's available at least!

    Lighter...? How much is too light, and how much is too much weight, what is the optimal min/max perfect weight for grip vs roll over 🤔 (rofl your welcome 🥹😂🤣)

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stock utb18 is too heavy up top. If you follow my video series on this rig, keeping the weight down low as much as possible, then pretty much the lighter the better on the body. Zero grams would be the ideal, if you're asking! If more grip was then needed, add it to the axles.

      I know you weren't really asking, or at least, asked jokingly because it's hard to answer. Good news is I'm pretty confident the above is actually a legit and easy answer, now I've been playing around with mini rigs at a reasonably high competitive level for a few years. So, you're welcome!
