    Would the 04 yz450f engine have the oil squitter?
    Im going to redo a 450 engine soon, just shut off while riding. Do not sure if the crank gave up, havent checked it yet. So getting a full rebuild.

    I'm in the middle of a rebuild now and found your video. I Can't get the thing to shift like you do after the cases are together? I split the cases again looking for a problem, found the forks did need a little wiggle to get them to move but they did cycle through. But together they wont move more than a little jiggle. This happen sometimes that you know of? then is good when running? Thanks!

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should totally be able to shift through the gears on the bench. Did you remove the shift forks? Maybe you got one mixed up with the other? That's usually what causes what your experiencing

    Dont put it back together yet. drill out the hole to fit the squiter and use a small drill bit to add a oil passage. I did the oil squiter mod on my 2005 yfz450. the 04-06 models did not have the squiter

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohh. I have had that happen before. What I found on that one was we was using aftermarket crank bearings and the bearings where slightly too wide down in the crank area. But also make sure the torx screws that holds the crank bearing retainers on are not protruding and rubbing on the side of the crank. Ive also seen that happen before. Hope that helps some

    The oil squirter started in 2007. The only years without it are 2004-2006. Somebody must have swapped that clutch cover for an older one.

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh ok. Thanks for the info. Off hand I can't remember what year that motor was, but maybe also it could be just a older motor on a new bike? I will reach out to my friend and ask him what year that was

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well he says it's a 2008. However it could just be a early 2008, basically 2007 stuff still. Who knows

    • @11GalleryATV
      @11GalleryATV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@UpAllNight91 yeah, I noticed the engine serial number is higher number than both my 2005 and 2006 which would make it a 2008. Someone definitely switched the clutch covers then ... either that or that one got screwed from the factory and that's why the crank bearings went out. Look up the parts diagrams from 2007+ they had the oil squirter ...

    • @NaturalBorN44
      @NaturalBorN44 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My engine Serial number is J323E-019183 trying to figure what motor I have I do have a squirter inside the case but I’ve heard deck can be fabricated in early motor can’t tell if it’s original or an aftermarket install

    • @11GalleryATV
      @11GalleryATV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NaturalBorN44 Hard to tell, as there is nothing that documents what engine serial numbers belong to what year. I can tell you this though, the 2004-2005 start with "J317E" and my 2006 and a couple of others are "J323E-" (002033, 002370) and this one in the video, a 2008, is "JE23E-" (009754). So yours is at least higher than a 2008 so probably a 2009 or higher since the number (019183) is so much higher. This is all just a guess, course ... but an educated guess, at least.

      No problem. Thanks for watching. The oil pump didn't show any signs of wear or damage but I still might have replaced it on my own bike. I might have done the crank bearings also. I get a little OCD on my own bikes and I try to convince the guys who I wrench on their bikes to do the same but in the end its thier choice. If the pump actually showed wear or damage though I would have told him hes just gonna have to bite the bullet and get a pump lol
