      I saw an TH-camr w/ ~200,000 subscriptions in the rose garden at Huntington Library in Pasadena, USA. Both of us were so happy -- he that someone recognized him & came over to say hi to him; I not believing seeing this nice person that was only a cyber-personality before.

    Holy shit my parents were born in Sudan and this is the first time I’ve seen sudan in the mainstream. My mother was an activist and had to flee the country since they government wanted to imprison her and my father was a doctor there as well. My mother is now getting her PhD but sadly she can’t pay for her college and it is nice to know that other Sudanese women are out there trying to do the best they can as well.btw my mom loves asida and mulikia as well.

      I did not realize it was not mainstream. I guess because I had neighbors who escaped persecution for being Christians.

    I am from Egypt. Asida(pronounced slightly differently in Egypt) is eaten in the southern parts of the country (you know closer to Sudan). As for molokhia it is probably Egyptians national dish, we love it and it's arguably most popular here. I think they do it in Lebanon and other parts of the Levant but they don't chop the leaves I think. You can find molokhia in supermarkets in Edgware Road.

      I am from Tunisia and Molokhia is one of my favorite dishes, we eat it with bread, I don't know the exact recipe but it is definitely different from the one he showed us, it has to stay on the stove for hours on low heat.... and the meat inside comes out so soft it melts in the mouth... it has an earthy and herbal flavour. Somewhere between Basil and Marijuana... Hahahaha I remember the first time I smelled cannabis I was like: "hey it smells like molokhia" .....
      Alex if you are reading this you should definitely try the one with the real leaves, definitely worth it.

    It's traditional in my home city (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) to have Molokhia every Saturday (which used to be the first day of our week before shifting our weekend). Some now opt to make it on Sundays. Still though, it tastes just as divine.

    I had no idea molokiya was also served in South Sudan! We have it here in Lebanon and it's believed to be of Egyptian origin, served to their royalties (molokiya comes from the word royalty).
    Edit: here we use chicken instead of meat but using pigeon or rabbit is also common).

    This is amazing. I've been binging Alex's videos for the past couple days and Im so touched that he's explored sudani food! I'm from Sudan and I feel like foods from my culture is definitely over shadowed by french, japanese, mexican, and indian food among other. Many chefs don't explore food in places like Sudan. There are different races and cultures, though. When some races are replaced in their own homelands, the world loses diversity. That's why I'm against "refugees" flowing into Europe. They will replace the native Europeans over the next hundred years.

    • @heikesiegl2640
      @heikesiegl2640 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      SpykerSpeed first of all: no they won't. and whats the problem with that? Immigration, changing culture have always been a part of humans. Or do you think greek people still pray to posaidon?
      You can't stop changes. Especially if you prevent people from having a save life. I would also try and find a new home if the circumstances are/ i am desperate

    • @SpykerSpeed
      @SpykerSpeed 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Europeans will be minorities in their own homelands within 40 years. They are already the minority in several major European cities. Mass immigration is destructive of native cultures and races. And yes, Europeans will stop the changes. Same with White Americans. The only reason Africans don't have a safe life is because of other Africans - they are their own worst enemies, and they are making Europe unsafe for innocent European children.

    We have molokhia (my father is arab ),although we dont use tomato sauce or paste it seems exactly the same and we cook it with chicken and its broth while we use the other half as stock for our rice to cook in and we eat that on the side of under the molokhia so that it soaks up the broth. Excellent Alex. This reminds me when I was working as and electrician for a restaurant owner. I was so inspired by another honest trade.
