I can't believe there are people who knew this song only for Saltburn when is a legendary song from the 2000s
Depends when you were born and your taste in music
@@finfog4590and what country you're from..
REAL I LOVED THIS SONG LIKE 2/3 YEARS AGO
better late than never
You shouldn't be fazed by this. The US is known for missing many hits from the UK.
I love it when artists have a renaissance like this. So beautiful to see. Go, Sophie!
Inspiring
To be fair she's never gone away had 7 albums out been on sould out dates
without music in tiktok is NEVER gonna happen again lol
Love that, gonna se her in September *_*
I just realize she got lots of bops
Same. It’s giving Jennifer Coolidge and I LIVE!!!!!
Its been more than 2 decades this song exists ..and it deserved the recognition that she has now as she should have many years ago .
This song used to be a huge hit in 2000s. All singles from this album were hits in radio stations.
Yessss… I know what you mean. We had clubs back then with genre music and vibes out. Nowt it’s trash.
@@krzysztofskomorowski8937 Yeah, I remember her performing on TV a lot back then.

it's insane how her vocals sound EVEN BETTER 20 years later.
I think so too!
This shows that your time will come, it just takes patience and commitment. Not everyone’s rise to fame is easy or the same.
"practice" a song for 20 years and don't have a substance abuse problem.
@@frdriscoll1 Huh? She has been famous all this time (''at least'' in Europe). It just shows that she's a pro who has had a lot of practice and hones in on her craft.
If you are not a drunk and/or drug addict like so many other celebs, it is actually normal that your voice will get better until your late 50s.
Her live karaoke thing during lockdown was so good. She's amazing!
She saved a LOT of us from going crazy with the Kitchen Disco's !!!
She should have received a Damehood for it.
Check out her cover of Crying At The Discotheque.
@@leighsaunderson9203it was lovely to see a young mum having a giggle with her kids, brought a warm smile to this owd codgers lips.
It warms my heart this beauty queen is finally getting her flowers. This song was number one in New Zealand for a couple weeks in 2002, LOVED it then, love it even more now. She still looks impeccable, its as if time froze for this incredible woman ♥️
She was No.1 in most countries back then, just not America. She's had her flowers already!
@@nellsun2521 Maybe not number 1, but still in the top ten on the dance chart. Kinda had the misfortune of being released shortly after the 9/11 attacks, when radio stations in the US were avoiding songs with words like "murder" in the title.
Un corps de mannequin ! Une super chanson qui n'a pas vieilli comme Sophie !
More than 20 years needed for USA to discover her :🎉
Finally. I am so happy because Sophie is so easily cool person and her music has been in my heart for more than 20 years.
Thanks for the Saltburn movie...
if you went to gay clubs when this song came out, you'd know it was a huge hit
same thing happened with Kate Bush song "Running Up That Hill" that was used in Stranger Things. These are the songs that we might have heard before but got used by a cool show/movie so they become popular again and now the young ones get to enjoy them as well.
@@Dayreel I wish Kate had tried to come back when that happened..I'm glad Sophie is maximizing her comeback
She’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. What an icon
This song peaked #1 on multiple charts in the early 2000s for weeks, what are you on about 😂
What are you talking about? She was HUGE in the early 2000s, she was the female counterpart of Robbie Williams.
She was #1 all over the world, all Europe, Latin America, etc...
And she was no one hit wonder, she released hit after hit after hit after Murder on the Dance Floor.
The thing is you americans live in a bubble.
It's already been recognised 20+ years ago. (Jimmy Fallon does not = recognition, he's irrelevant!)
@@enriquemarencoA shit ton of people didn't hear about her til now, including me. Doesn't mean she was bad, but the movie brought her marketing she needed.
@@DarkcranioMaybe a shit ton in the US but for us in Europe she's been around for over 20 years... she was an absolute tonic during lockdown in the UK with her " Kitchen Discos" ..... theres a whole world outside the US and way more than the choices that are limited to Americans....
ages like fine wine! Both the song and artist.
Looks like she hasn’t aged a day in 20 yrs. What a resurgence for her. This was huge hit in Australia when it first came out 20 yrs ago 😮
I swear you would think this video was from 20 years ago. She looks the same and sounds better than ever. Amazing. I hope she goes on tour in the USA.

its crazy to see Sophie in America after almost 23 years of releasing this record. Love it!
And she still looks amazing as ever!!! ❤
I couldn’t believe this was a recent performance, it feels unreal because this song came out so long ago.
I watched all her Kitchen Discos on TH-cam during the pandemic.
she still looks like porcelain doll 😁 i still smile when she played mannequin in her video "get over you" because she didn't have to work hard to look like one 😁

I’m 26 years old but this song was HUGE when I was a kid growing up in England. Sophie actually came to my work place (national theatre) two years ago and performed this during the summer! It was so good. Glad to see the resurgence of a great song but I’m surprised so many people missed it when it first came out
Tunes like this were played 24/7 on the radio in my house growing up. 27 and remember this song. Makes me cry
I'm 31. This song was huge in my country in South America, Peru. I'm now living in the States and I'm flabbergasted to learn that this is the first time she is singing live this song here!!
I'm 35 in America and never once heard this song growing up. It would have been a #1 song without the gatekeeping of the music industry.
Took the USA long enough to discover her. Classic UK club/festival tune
Huge in Australia too
It was rather big all over Europe.
@@DirtyInc. Similar to Kylie Minogue but SEB was less popular so she was an icon for European market
Crazy, right? When I was living in the UK in 2001-2002 this song was huge.
This is her "US TV debut", and with no MTV or radio airplay...how were they supposed to find her? More like the label didn't offer her.

It's been 22 years since this was first released and Sophie hasn't aged a day! She looks and sounds more incredible than ever! She was my first celeb crush when I was 6, that hasn't changed!

Pues si aquí en LATAM fue un hit esa canción.
Yup! It was a #1 in Latin America and Europe. It was never promoted in the USA and also the USA has always been a tricky market to crack into for pop artists. Either way, I am happy that she's getting the recognition she deserved in the American market and I am sure that she was just as happy and surprised as her fans to have tiktok blow this up. The funny thing is that Murder on the Dancefloor has ALWAYS been on my playlists since it came out, I've listened to it frequently all these years and suddenly I'm like WTF why is it on the radio again? In Latin America this song was an absolute early 2000s classic that still kept having occasional spins in retro stations. I remember vividly watching the MV on TV as a kid back when it was new, loved that song ever since. And suddenly it now blew up again, which is great to see.
Yes, I'm From Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and I've always been a fan of English Music since I was a kid, because my parents raised me listening that type of music, and I remember listening this song on the English Music radios stations of our country when I was 4-7 years old (2003-2006) so the song was popular when it first came out, but I'm glad the song is having more success now, well deserved
Sophie was so underrated for many years, it is time for her to ger the global recognition, and by global I mean the US, because unfortunately, conquer the US industry is very important and helpful for the artists career. I know her almost from her origins and she's been one of my favorite artists ever. Her catalogue is amazing.

This is a blessing for her, I would think. A whole new generation loving your music is exciting. 😊
It’s wild so many people only heard the song for the first time last year is WILD. Sophie is a 2000s and early 2010s electro pop icon and a tall Snow White type of beauty.
