I do solar installation and the 422 is the only pair of channel locks that I’ll use, they’re the best tool (knipex are better but coworkers steal tools all the time) I’ve found for tightening EMT couplers and connectors. I’m on my second pair after my first got stolen and I love them to bits. Channel lock for life!
Life long Channel Lock user here and I completely understand what you're talking about with the large opening when closed. That's the same reason I tried Knipex. They're great too but I often have issue with how wide they open on the small settings. Its funny how they both have little PIA things about them. They're both great and yet both will have you cursing...or inventing new words if a customer is around.
The way you had to open the channellocks to bite down is exactly why I hate channellock. The tool itself works it’s just uncomfortable when you have to open to bite down. I have xl hands and I still find them uncomfortable. I didn’t like the button on Knipex at first, now I prefer it.
For someone who likes channel lock this video shows just the opposite. Channel lock was the initial design, no wonder other plier companies improved on the Channel lock design.
Had the same experience using the 12inch version as a maintenance technician. Left them in my truck after a few days of trying to use them, picked up a few months later and still find them just not quite right for my use.
I feel like these pliers are made specifically for plumbers in mind. You're right about them not being good for fiddly little jobs like pulling screws or gripping studs but I find the 432s to be really good to use on hex shaped plumbing fittings, gripping pipe, and holding back when tightening something with a larger pair of pliers as they dont get slippy like my other smaller pliers tend to do when it gets out gripped by bigger pair. Have you tried the new channellocks yet?
I agree they ain't bad I just need pliers to work with smaller fasteners as well in my line of work. And no but the are ordered and a review will follow

I bought these 442's with one thing in mind. Turning pipe. They work great for that.
They are handy for pipes
Channel lock did fuck up! A set of pliers that small should be able to grab smaller! Great review man I gotta give you a shoutout!!!
Got mine for 5.33$ Home Depot

Great video! Hey man if it doesn’t work for you then it doesn’t work for you. Doesn’t mean you dislike the rest of there stuff. Great job man 👍
Cool video. This makes me want some knipex comfort grips
They are pretty nice I think I prefer the regular rubber grip style tho the comfort grip makes them kinda bulky

Ya really now hope I never have to work on the same site as you hammer marks on my tools and rounded nuts everywhere 😂😂....

Yeah I'll admit they work but just not naturally? They just grab a little funny. They need a finer adjustment instead of the channels.
Electrician point of view works for someone working with not the right tool
😡
You are wrong and I will fight you
That battle will be glorious
