Can We SAVE This "ABANDON" JUNKYARD Ford Wrecker? Will It Run and DRIVE Again?

- This 1988 Ford wrecker tow truck has been neglected for many years. I took the owners word that it "ran when parked" and rolled the dice paying $2000 to buy it. Let's see if we can get it running/driving again.

NNKH is my absolute favorite channel to watch. No over excessive talking. He gets straight to the point on what he's doing. I learn a lot from you Keep up the amazing work man 👍
I agree totally..Chris is very easy to watch and I would say he is my favourite as well.
Same, I watch every second of every video
WORD!
VGG used to be good, but nowadays it is lame.
@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeeznever was all that to me...❤ Chris is cool with no BS
Most people can't record a video of a stationary object without shaking all over the place. You fall off the hood of a truck backwards and remain in frame the whole time. Respect.
Took that antenna like a champ as well
So funny but true…
Epileptic fit cam
Yes the in-frame fall into the weeds was expertly done! Great job on your videos. My fave TH-cam car channel!
open up youtube after a hard friday at work, and there's an hour long NNKH video about an old wrecker hidden in a bush. Oh gigidy, let me get a beer and make myself comfortable
🍻
Yup better than Diesel creek and mustie in rehabs😅😅😅
Idi bet peg stroking his wooden leg wanting to buy that heap.
I'm convinced Chris can fix anything, doesn't matter what it is, what condition it is, how long its being sitting etc. I think if he found an abandoned flying saucer, he could get it going. Really enjoy NNKH.
So can you . . not hard with old tech
And a sunken submarine
Yes He can & get it on the road !@
That would make a great Star Wars series. A faux reality show about a person that gets old spaceships running again.
man, you're backyard is like Marry Poppins bag .. no matter how many vehicles you stuff in there, always more room for more, love it
Lol, that's why it's so important that I keep them moving out. Turn and burn
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Good on you for not letting things rot
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I love your channel. Definitely in my top 3 on YT. Keep up the great work. 👍👍
Buy a house with property
Between the c30, the rollback, and now the super duty, I’ve gained an obsession with spotting old wreckers in need of TLC now
Chris you are a competent mechanic to be sure, but what separates your videos is that you are an awesome content creator and editor. The right camera or drone shot in the right place, the right speed to catch things up. Even when you say it is all over the place with the video content, it is very entertaining to watch. This was an hour video that felt like 15mins.
Continued success to you and Jen.

love the old strobe light sounds. when I worked as an EMT, our ambulances were mostly strobe lights and inside the cab sounded like a synthesizer with all the strobe boxes firing and the relays clicking, nostalgia....
you are the best channel out there right now, Finally a real Mechanic who's not a Hack, you remind me of my Father 50 years Ago....
Nope pole barn garage is the best. He would have threw a cheap tractor paint job on it and fixed the stuff was wrong with it.
LoveYour Channel !@ Brother !@
I found NNKH back in 2020 when me and my 1 year old son was looking for something to watch especially b/c my son LOVES working on cars. He is now 4 and this channel is his all time favorite!!
There's definitely a lot of these "will it run" channels out there, but you in particular remind me of the old school mechanics that could fix just about anything. On top of that is the fact, that you are a wild spirit lol. I Really enjoy your work and your videos, all the best to you and the little lady.👍
Grew up in mid century as toddler. Inn old timely garage owners...they were there at birth of autos..had many stories and tips to tell
I was originally drawn to your namesake approach to your work. Then Jen and Gus won my heart. THEN you tarped your entire Tundra on your lawn after it took a dip! I would have taken the L and found another truck as most everyone i know would have. Not you! Your "eh....it could be worse" attitude toward the amount of work ahead, blew me away. You truly must love what you do and that makes you my favorite to watch and learn from. I have to watch your videos late so i don't pester my truck. I also have my parent's 74 Chevelle Laguna S-3 rotting away on the property, but it's tied up in a financial agreement and i dont know if it will ever be mine, so i just look at it lol. Keep up the great work!

I liked hearing the granddaughter's story, learning some history about the truck.
Absolutely awesome!!
I'm real happy for you Jen and Gus...you will be a proud pappa and i'm sure Jen will be a great mom
You're mechanic skills constantly amaze me! How you ever get these long lost junkers not only running, but actually looking good and running is astonishing! Another great video Chris.
F-SuperDuty is a great truck. Basically a F-450 before they existed. Beam axle, deep gears, 10 lug, great truck.
Yes they are!
I remember seeing those as tow trucks back in the day.
Agreed. In Brazil they were F4000's
Frame and suspension components too GM had frames crack and snap
4.56 or 4.88 rears with 4 wheel disc and there were also very few that were 4wd it’s a beast of a truck
Let's ALL assist in enhancing his TH-cam algorithm, like I'm subscribing, viewing, liking, sharing and commenting from Quakertown, Pennsylvania, USA.
When he found the second truck in the bushes, comedy gold XD
I bet we will see that one if the body looks straight. Atleast I hope so . Lol
Really appreciate the simplicity of your approach to working on vehicles of all types that have been abandoned. You definitely turn a lemon into lemonade. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Man I am getting twisted tonight in Greenland with my boys and I’m in the room right now looking on TH-cam and the hype I’m getting right now from watching this before I go to bed drunk af is on another level bro! Good looks!
I love how kind you were to the elderly guy who was the owner
This one brought tears to my eyes. 😂 was cool to see Bobbi get to see it again too 😇
what a fun ride 😁 👍
PS: Jen’s lookin’ great.

I like how spontaneous this video channel is. I love his energy and the attitude. I wish there were more channels like this, keep up the great work, can't wait for the next video
Another great video, Pops! I really like the way you put so many project updates in one video without an excessive amount of narration. No nonsense is a fitting description!
your neighbors must love you bringing stuff home

Just recently found ur channel and ur easily my new favorite wrencher on TH-cam lol im blown away the amount of hardware and stuff you have 😂
Awesome to hear you stumbled upon the channel and thanks for tuning in! Yeah I'm a big fan of having hardware on hand
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow of course and yea I bet I’ve never seen someone that has parts in hand 90% of the time
I love working on cars. I primarily only do maintenance on my '15 & '17 cars but I like to learn everything I can about car repair and definitely love seeing old trucks and cars being revived. Great content, definitely no nonsense, keep it up!
Like your videos due to your one of the few that let the viewers know what you pay and what things cost that’s great information for the guy like myself to know what it costs restore a vehicle 👍🏽
Fun to see you diagnose and fix. You are a wealth of knowledge.
Hi Cris it 7.30 AM here in England when I opened your channel and I thought you had changed to a natural history rather than cars and trucks lol boy was that truck overgrown love your vids congrats to you and Jen on the baby being a Dad is fantastic done it three times stay well regards Andy.
I don’t know how you get your luck you just fall into good deals on vehicles. I’m so jealous haha! Love your videos and keep up the great work!
I'm always scouting for them. Glad to hear you enjoy the videos. Thank you for tuning in!
I have been watching your channel for sometime and really and truly enjoy it. It’s really a fun thing to watch. Keep them coming.😊
Chris, hey man I don't think there's anything you can't fix or get running again!! great job on this truck!!
You are one heck of a mechanic and it’s huge that you enjoy working on your projects. I like to relax and watch your projects keep it real thanks again

41:00 Ya gotta remember that when we smell nothing Gus Man is smelling a million things and then some. So even though to us the small might seem to be gone but for him it's probably super mouse stink extraordinaire! LOL. You're great finding (well sometimes LOL) trucks and some vehicles worth the effort.
I drove a 89 heavy equipment service truck years ago. It had the cruise control buttons on the wheel. Engine was a slug but with the low 5 speed she would pull the world. Had to have glows, always!!! LoL. A+!!! Brought back memories hearing the INT 7.3. 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
wooo! i thought i clicked on an old video and thought "AHH its a shame he didn't have the ✨✨K30 ✨✨ back then to get it out!" only for it to be in the next shot!
big fan, recently starting working through your videos! you've inspired me to get away from table top engineering and get out into the garage and get hands on learning some vehicle maintenance
keep doing what you're doing! People like you make the world a better place 🙏 God bless you
Chris can't believe how you got this truck running so quickly, your knowledge and knowhow 😁 is impressive. Jen is looking good and happy, enjoy your trip guys. Geoff . UK.
Love the Mustang project! But seriously, you have to do something about that utility bed color. I've thought that since you put it on, but with the camper. No, dude. Wrap it, or paint it. It ain't right. BTW, I think you're gonna be a great Dad!
one of my favorite channels for sure. that 7.3l is one of the best diesel engines ever made. good find brochacho!
Chris you are the hardest working man on TH-cam!😂
Chris is great and I love this channel, but he's not the hardest worker on TH-cam. That honor goes to Jonathan W. I've never seen one man get so much done as Jonathan. I swear that man never sleeps!! He runs his own tow truck business plus does A TON of work on other projects, from giant steam engines to building a new tow truck from the ground up, to swapping engines in old cars, etc. etc........
... with the coolest dog ...
I am happy to see you are restoring the old Mustang, there is not enough of those left.
They were an absolute fine car I had one that I wanted to restore but I had to sell it. It was drive able and didn’t have much to do to it to make it like new. I drove it a lot but the early 80’s were rough and I ended up selling it, in 86. I bought it in 1980 and it was in great shape I kept it in great shape also, but could not afford to keep 2 vehicles on the road, and had to park it. Because I needed my truck to make a living. Rough times then.
The tire toss looks like a Philly version of the Scottish games.
And the truck: Abandon Vehicle Recovery -- reason enough to buy it for this show. 😀
Now you have a tow rig for every occasion!!! I am always impressed by your automobile knowledge!!
If you ever have trouble getting it to go into gear those trucks have a terrible pedal set up for the clutch. There’s a small plastic bushing where the clutch pedal meets idler shaft lever rod that wears out and the clutch pedal won’t push in far enough. Sometime you’ll notice your having to push the clutch pedal through the floor, that usually means it’s time. They make a delete kit but I always keep some extra bushings in the glove compartments of my plow trucks. You may already know this but I just figured I’d say something.
They also had issues with the firewall flexing when the clutch pedal was depressed. Ford issued a bulletin about reinforcing it to stop the flexing. I had an 88 and had to replace the bushings and reinforce the firewall. The clutch hydraulics were pretty Mickey Mouse too.
I’ve owned 5 idi ford with zf5s and all had that problem you could look right in and tell if the clutch sat further in than the brake pedal it needed that bushing and two I had to replace that whole aluminum bracket under the dash that held the pedal assembly
@@tonyortiz2192 I was a Ford Technician back in those days and Ford’s built quality was absolutely horrendous. They , along with GM were pumping out some 5-star garbage back then. It wasn’t uncommon for service writers to have to decide to either run or square up with pissed customers 😀in the shop. Technician tool boxes were being hauled out of dealers just about every week. They rollback drivers were making a killing on moving massive tool boxes… mine included.
Watching Chris's videos feels like driving past an accident scene. You know you shouldn't look at the carnage but you just can't help yourself.
$2,800 is a steal for that truck.
Woulda listed it at $3600, & dicker from there.
@bloodybones63 yeah he got hosed on that deal.😂😂
@@bobobrazil1973 Probably just wanted it gone.
He dropped the price down to $2500

NNKH. BY FAR THE BEST CHANNEL OUT THERE. There is nothing this man cant fix. I only wish he was my neighbor. Enjoy your vacation 👍😎
Damn! What a difference in the Mustang , he did an awesome job with that! I'm looking forward to see the Mustang back on the road. Have fun Chris and Jen !
Gosh he makes it look so easy and remains calm the whole time! I would be freaking out yelling bad words.
You got to watch out with that Japanese Knotweed! It's a menace and very hard to get rid of. Just one twig can seed a whole new growth and of that's your backyard you are screwed. Excellent content NNKH, SOO much better than anything you get on "TV".
Nothing a mower and weed wacker can take care of
Appreciate you tuning in!
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow No, really, it's much much worse than that. People get denied mortgages and have subsidence because of this stuff. The usual treatment is injection with weedkiller then burial in special sealed packages. Be incredibly careful that you didn't bring anything back with you and incinerate anything you suspect might be contaminated with it.
Very cool weed pick.Brings back memories working on the 7.3.As a Ford dealer from 94-2005 worked on a bunch.Congrats to you and Jenn on the new bambina and have fun on your camping /Power Tour trip.
Love it when I see an hour video, I wish every video was 24 hours!😂 you are doing awesome Chris!
NNKH I found your channel a few days ago and have been on a binge watching spree😅 I found your videos so entertaining . You guys rock ! ❤
Awesome to hear that you enjoy the videos and cant thank you enough for watching them!
Im not even a minute into this and all i have to say is i love the things you do. This is definitely a dream to be able to just buy old junk you know nothing about and make it work again. You do a great job with the filming editing explaining and fixing. 100% my favorite youtube channel.
Some come-along handles are made to bend when they are overloaded. That was a nice will it run episode. You’re really knowledgeable on pretty much everything.
The condition of that front seat cloth tells me the odometer hasn't rolled over yet. Those bench seats are usually torn up by 100,000, especially on a hard-working truck like that.
Chris I absolutely love your content, your enthusiasm to salvage this stuff is off the charts.
Whoa Chris! This is a project! So Interesting to see your enthusiasm!💪💪💪💪👍👍
Hey Jen look what I bought! lol!
It's relaxing to see a childhood reunion and a happy ending for the wrecker. That thing and the young lads is probably going to see 30 more years as a work horse👍
7.3 idi isn’t a power house but it will get the job done. I have a 1990 f250 with a idi love it. Parts are pretty cheap for these trucks. Not a bad truck you got there. The idi love there glow plugs hot or cold
Thanks for the Friday nighter, Chris! Oh and congrats on the future Jr NNKH!
Chris, you never cease to amaze me with your recoveries. Wouldn't have guessed that a old wrecker buried in weeds would fire up and drive and be put back to work in short order.
Wish I had your mechanical expertise!
17:00 im sure i heard the trailer say thank you 😂
Dude! The utility bed is so cool, I like that. Awesome wrecker rescue. Diesel engines are so good. Thanks for the show.
I get told from my girl all the time how grateful she is being with a guy that can do anything 💯 30 year mechanic...and can do anything with everything ❤
The label on the door is perfect
Doesn’t even smoke
You should lookup the Jack rod.
Tool for your floor jacks so in case your without jack stands.
Best channel on TH-cam keep up the good work bigdoggg
Hi Chris thanks for the video well done on getting the Wrecker truck running it must feel good when it comes alive and most of the parts are working except for the ones leaking! The green mustang looks good after Kevin did his work, although it you scrap/sand the rust off the parts/panels in the engine bay and where the new/old panels join up it will look a lot nicer.
After seeing AC latest video about his Hyundai excavator catching on fire, always make sure there is debris free from places that could catch fire and have an extinguisher handy :)
That trailer is the real MVP!
This is by far one of my favorite episodes on your channel. Thanks NNKH👏👍😎
Glad to hear you think so and appreciate you very much for tuning in
There's a bracket you can install to fix the clutch pedal. It was a very common problem, I installed about 100 of em.

I do love how the lady wanted to say goodbye to the truck.
👍👏🙏
That wheel is 10 lug 450., if it is for this truck, it a super duty truck,14.000 pound cap, put motor home wheels and it turns into a way more cap, truck p.s. those litt wheels are probably the dolly wheels, thanks BigAl California
Chris I love your attitude when things don’t do your way! I would be cussing up a storm. Keep up the great content your the man!
9:21 "Abandon Vehicle Removal" How ironic😅
I have been doing this kind of work since the late 80's, 88/89 and I made a C-Clamp for what you used the ball joint press for, and I would have never thought of using that for that, but I will say that is a great idea for doing that. I have been using my old C-Clamp that I cut the end off of and welded a socket on the screw for a gun or big ratchet! Had it ever since say 91/92 thanks for sharing that today I will use the press on the bigger ones instead of struggling sometimes with the old faithful one I made years ago. Happy Boating.
Peterson Restos is how I found your channel. Cross pollination is a good thing.
Awesome! Appreciate you stopping by to check out the videos.

Ol peg definitely proved that the idi's are undestructible!
This is an epic rescue video. A two-person retrieval job, but you did it. Great to see old iron being put back into use.
The pregnant lady is absolutely GLOWING in this video! She looks great. Life is coming together for you great. One step at a time. Don't forget you paid into your projects, $500 profit but paying yourself from labor. $200 parts/shop supplies ain't bad!
