Agreed, I do enjoy watching a car refreshed in a good way. Mostly I enjoy full restomods, but I understand why that would take too much time and money to do often 😁
Exactly! Parts add up very quickly. I’m fixing to start reviving my 81 Chevy Scottsdale pickup. Been sitting 18 years. Lot of cab work to do. When I parked it I had just put a rebuilt 350 with 350 hp. Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon. Can’t wait!

I know this is an old video and the chance anyone from Vice grip will read this is slim, but maybe some other viewer might read it. It fits to the end of this video so well. Thank you Derek, VGG team and the VGG comunity, which is one of the nicest on YT. Neither my dad nor my grandfather ever tought me anything and they just let their cars rust and die and I always felt sorry for the "things". Well three years ago I bought my first car and even for the easiest jobs I was putting the car to the car mechanics. Now thanks to the confidence I gathered from VGG videos and even from the comments of people sharing their experience I transformed into "If he can do it, I can do it too guy" and I love working on my cars. Last week I changed complete brake lines in my 1997 Buick Lesabre with more than 280 000 miles and even now I wonder how it is possible i realy did it. All the rusted bolts, broken clips, lines that are not fitting properly... But I did it! And it is exactly what Derek is saying at the end of the video. Take your time! Do one part at a time and be proud for every single small thing you've made better. I bought basicaly a wreck and every single step is felt so much while driving the car. And when I was tired and needed to save some money to continue and the car just stood there I'd just washed it and waxed it and instantly the result was visible and it made me proud. Huge part is realy because Derek and the VGG team and all you fellas and fellets who make this channel possible. Even the "I wish I still have this car" comments gives me strength because I know I would feel sorry if I didn't finish the job no matter how long it will take. Considering Buick I am fifth owner, the car went through hard times, tons of rust everywhere, things taped together by previous owners no love whatsoever but it is very rare here in Europe and I decided to save it and I love every mile in it. So to VGG and the whole community here: I love you all and my Buick too!:-)

My dad had a late 70’s, yellow 2wd Suburban that he used for logging and storing his tools in. He also taught me to drive in that rig. The thing I remember most was the heater that would melt your hands and feet if you weren’t careful. It was awesome!
Watching your shows on television now, great! Don't know anything about mechanics myself but still watching this for the complete picture, humor, friends, family, surroundings and nature and classic cars not going to waste, thx!
This is my favorite type of truck! A daily driver work horse..... absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's reliable, easy to work on, and you don't have to worry about using it as a truck! Mine is similar and it makes me smile every time i drive it!! Well done Derek!
43:55 hey Derek! “Expert” woodworking tip here- alcohol based leather dye works phenomenally. I’ve used it on some guitars in the past. Most of the name brand stains, like valspar, don’t have a good black (or even a nice dark one, my coffee is darker than it for Pete’s sake!) but an alcohol based black leather dye will make that grain darker than the molasses used in actual grain!
Great idea, I bet it'll work. Gel Stain is another option as well. I used General Finishes on the Kitchen table I built, but it may not be available locally. You can layer it to get a more specific color or darkness. Dyeing would probably be the quick and easy way though.
A good solid basic work truck is a satisfying thing of beauty, and this one is just that. Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Derek and Bieri family!
Remington is my all time favorite project of VGG! The same year and model of the farm truck I learned to drive in, hauled countless wagons of hay and silage, cattle trailer and gravity boxes of corn to town with, and feed home from town in. Truly was/is the "heartbeat of america" IMO!
Pepaw was a mechanic in north Louisiana - A Model, tractors, trucks, Beatles, Willys and outboards. You reminded me of him when you hit that tire with WD. He did the same thing on flywheels and such before he reached for the 5 pounder - but would say before hand, “spray a little monkey piss on here”! Love your videos! Remington is one of my favorite trucks Derek has, followed by the cat farm crew cab, blue 81 GMC Sierra grande k15, and the recent two the Saratoga silver and frost gloss white 78 Chevy C10 Silverado and the 75 Chevy k20 Cheyenne super Hawaiian blue and frost gloss white i used to have a 79 Chevy k10 Scottsdale long bed with the same paint scheme factory..
I’m sure Derrick won’t ever see this, but it might help some of y’all. When he starts trying to do the chrome ring around the dash cluster cover at 54:04, it looks a lot better and is a lot easier if you buy chrome paint markers. You can use a fine tip and they’re one of the only things that turn out looking chrome, most other things just look silver and dull.
"Inspiration and hope." Derek is a great student. Kevin told him this was one of the more important things he was taught to remember to help and motivate people. This video is a masterful expression of this desire and a wonderful homage to a great teacher. I have always been an all or nothing guy and because of that, I no longer have a great project to play with. I hope I listen as well as Derek and enjoy the process to the destination as told through a great teacher. Great video!
The other truck that was a gm square body i like of Derek's there's two that primer grey 78 GMC Sierra, and the green 79 Chevy c20 0l regular cab long bed stepside
And then there's a red crew cab like 1990-91 Chevy dually he has in Minnesota it's in the 75 Chevy k20 Cheyenne super Hawaiian blue and frost gloss white revival video
When I redo clusters, especially Chevy of this era, I spray the faces with clear coat. I have found the letters and numbers turn into powder on some, and you touch it, it is gone. So clear coat seals them in place. Outside of that I do everything else the same. I also replace the bulbs for good measure and clean the contact pads and shoot a little lube into the speedo where the cables comes in and spin it with a screw driver to get things freshened up.
Buddy, seeing you come back sick and suffering through it. I was sick about the same time as my restaurant was closed for a week for renovations and I was putting In 14 hour days to get back up and running. Painting, cleaning, epoxy coating floors, new bar top. It was a long week. Appreciate the effort, I was there too
Thanks Jessica for keeping the Bieri boys in line, and thanks Derek and fellers for keeping us entertained every Friday+. Glad to have you good folks bringing us good wholesome content for another year.
What a trip back to memory lane. Dad had Jackman wheels on one of his square Suburbans, as we were growing up. We had and used that truck over 10 years, until he passed. Thank you for that.
I remember my dad purchased a 76 gmc 1/2 ton, 6 cyl, 3 on tree standard, 2x4, vinyl everything. New in 1976 for 3500$ canadian love the sq bodies. Love your show. Happy new year to you and your family.
Ya keeping things on a roll, no slack time lol We have a dog on our channel and she’s lazy ha ha doesn’t dooooo nothing lol nah she’s a good ole piglet… lol
I love to watch all your videos ! I'll be 75 soon and Not able to do things like that anymore. My wife and I live in a lower income Sr Citizens apartment. It's small but comfortable. Sadly we had to let our car go back over a year ago but it's not to bad. We order our food and grocery stores deliver it. My wife can only eat gluten free, and as for me well I go along with her because Love let's me do it. ❤. (Gods Gift). So keep up the great work you do and we pray that Our Lord keeps his hands on you and your wonderful Family ! We see so much love there. God Bless and keep cranking those old beauties up !!! Oh by the way. An easy way to clean your clear plastic over the gauges is a cloth rag and toothpaste. Any may do but Crest seemed to do a great job. Same with plastic headlamp/tail lamp covers.
I think this is the only channel I will sit through a 3 plus hour of video. Derek, your videos are very enjoyable to watch, even if I already know how to do what I’m watching. Sorry about your job loss with motor trend. But this means I’ll be able to watch you more often right here.
Ya ya great videos. Idc how long we watch all of em, even Little Grip Garage too We clip our videos all the way down to 1:30 and it’s tuff editing that much, idk how the man does it. Keep it up sir awesome job
Finally got to finish watching this one all the way through. Derek, I’ll tell you that when I started watching your videos years ago you helped me change my view on a lot of struggles I had with my project CJ7. I wanted everything to perfection, never satisfied and never took it out to enjoy it. Best decision was to say “hey, what’s the point of doing all this if I’m not going to enjoy it. So now I got it on the road and still missing a lot but I’m out enjoying the ol girl and couldn’t be happier. Love the channel and overall love what you and the family bring to the table.
Derek, I had the same truck. bought it in the 90s and decided to give it to my brother it was a great way for a feller to move most anything from one place to another. Miss that ol rig !
I really appreciate how you and Jessica refurbish stuff and don´t just throw new parts at the truck. Makes the truck more genuine and retains its personality. Kudos. 👍
Fantastic content as usual. We appreciate the hard work with not only the revivals but also the editing of so many videos on a regular basis. A feller is making the world go 'round. As the great philosopher Joe Dirt once said: "Life's a garden: dig it."
Not sure if anyone said this already Derek but a neat trick with hole saws with no pilot bit is to spin them in reverse first when starting the hole, teeth don’t jump, saved me many a time stuff under a house or in attic
It doesn’t matter what you’re doing I always enjoy your videos! I enjoy the rescue-drive home & the shop videos the best, but I really wanted to say my hats off to you for your humor, consistency & Love for your family, friends & country! Well done! Thank you!
I had Jackman wheels and Norseman tires best mud and snow tire ever. I have look forever for another set. Thank you Derek letting me know about re pops.
Love the tape attached to your going to town shirt. While you sitting using the tailgate as the work table painting the chrome around the instrument bezel.
not only a great video with a lot of good common sense ideas but truly a heartfelt truthful message at the end. remember,if your not moving your feet, your not going forward. need to put that on a shirt
dang bro! You shouldn't be breathing that spray and metal dust! People watch this might think it's ok to breathe it! great work as always, just concerned about your long term health and thought it's worth mentioning.
I love this channel. It inspired me to get an olderJeep and tinker on it with my (9 at the time) son. We just moved and couldn't take it with us so we sold it. It was my first "going to town rig" and my wife and I enjoyed that thing to pieces. It was slow and loud, but we enjoyed cruising around in it when the weather allowed. Amazing how a little spray paint and windex could make it look good form 20 feet away. So thankful for this channel.
I absolutely love this stuff. My Dad was a mechanic his whole life ( self taught ) and he inspired me to learn how to fix cars too. He started his own business and built it around helping people for a fair price, not taking advantage of people. He named his business "Done Right Auto Repair". Nobody has ever heard of him before but he is a Legend. Sadly he passed away a few years back. He never got to see this show but I guarantee he would have LOVED it too. I just really appreciate what you do Derek, you are an inspiration to us all. Seriously Thank You.
I love when the little supervisor Theodor comes by to check on your progress. Seems like a very sweet cat. And i would come by to check out that car too if i could. Cause that is looking like one real nice work truck!
Watching you two put an interior in together reminds me of the gold 70’ Chevelle back in Minnesota. Y’all ain’t changed a bit! Still the same good hearted people doing the same thing that got you to where you are now. I’m proud of you guys. The fame hasn’t changed you at all.
The “will it run and drive” videos are what brought me to this channel, but videos like this are probably my favorite. It inspires me to work on my 78 gmc stepside. Thank you for all that you do.
Growing up my dad had an 81 C10 Custom Deluxe, dark brown and the same brown dash and tan interior. We put a lot of miles on that truck cruising dirt roads and back roads in Northeast Georgia, and seeing this interior come together has a feller feeling a certain nostalgia tonight. Thanks, Derek.
I have an 81 Scottsdale I’m working on at the moment. It was my first vehicle that I bought back in 91. I’m the second owner. Originally had 123 k on it. I’ve got over 450k now it. The old 305 cam lobes went flat. So threw in an old 78 350 with 350 hp. What a difference it made. That 305 grandpa motor was tired! 😊 it did go another300 k . Can’t complain too much. I’ve only broke down maybe 3 or 4 times, if that many. These old trucks are super reliable! As long as you maintain them for the most part. I change my oil religiously.
Derek, just want to say this fella here in Northumberland UK , just can't get enough of you and the show. It's my daily fix... almost feels like we are family I spend that much time watching you. Keep doing what you ate doing and I'll keep spreading the word. Just ordered a guy a cap to represent the brand over the pond.
@On-TeIegarmThe_VioceGripGarage yep the truck turned out awesome, another great show....absolutely nailed it with the closing words. Such a good show. Thanks to all involved.

@@ViceGripGarage Update: It's alive! Purring like it was parked a week ago. Watching your vids really helped make it go as smoothly as possible. I can't thank you enough.
An advice from a feller to a feller, get some chrome silver paint pens of the jungle website, they are even waterproof and have amazing results. Super easy to apply on the edges and letters of these dash bezels, in just one coat!
Heck no, we can’t keep up with the normal content schedule lol let alone all over the world he does.. To even have a couple channels, the mams got big shoes to keep up with and his son is comin in the race lol
Dang it, Derik... I saw those wheels in the thumbnail and immediately thought, "Ooohhh someone is making old-school spoke wheels?" Nope. Read the words. Love the vintage wheel choice!!! 🫤 😊
Life is hard and times are confusing right now. Always really pleased I get the opportunity to tune in and watch you make the world a better place. Much love from England.
53:40 they makes chrome or silver pen/marker that you can literally do that bezel chrome in seconds and looks great. It’s in the arts and crap section at Walmart. Find anyone wearing blue they can show you where they hide them
Theodorable is a great cat. Part of the magic of your show is that its like we are just stopping by and talking about cars while wrenching. Did that in my 20s with my brothers. Great times.
That's so good to see it being cared for. Although when you hit the grey on the woodgrain wheel I kinda yelled no! But then it came out nice. Lesson learned. Thanks
Derek…. I don’t think you have any idea of the joy you bring to these old motorheads. Your content is amazing in your comedic timing astounding. I laugh more during one of your episodes and I do all week. The bit about sheet metal screws in your door panels and just your look at the camera had me howling. Thank you thank you for everything you do.
As much as I love these trucks, and all you do, your message at the end really hits home. You are very much correct at doing what you can when you can. That doesn't even have to pertain to automobiles. It can pertain to anything. Always enjoy watching your videos.

I've been fitting those dash mats to cars for years and have (since the first one or two) never used the velcro as I've found that over time the adhesive ruins your dash pad. Because of that I've been happy just letting them sit on the dash.
I remember you rescuing this truck that was a great episode and so was this. Love a realistic preservation restoration of a working vehicle that you aren't affraid to put to good use because you didn't spend an arm and a leg on parts and paint. I think its also super cool to have an old school truck like this as a daily driver work horse, you don't tend to see so many folk still running the older rigs over here in the UK like you fellas do. Thanks for making me laugh and learning me a thing or two as always keep up the awesome work!
Glad I'm not the only one that uses rivets. My floor had a few holes were the driver's heel rests. I used a heat shield removed from one of our racing lawnmower to form to the floor and seam sealed, riveted and the box linered over top of the patch panel.

I left a similar comment too! The chrome paint pen works so good.
Molotow liquid chrome markers
@@DieselBadger60 thats the one! I was very happy with them. My 76 Monte Carlo has chrome edge on the gauge bezel and dash vents
Derek, I was intimidated about restoring my 1978 K20 Scottsdale. Watching your videos told me “you got this”!
That's awesome!
Thanks go man so awesome
"Inspiration and hope." Derek is a great student. Kevin told him this was one of the more important things he was taught to remember to help and motivate people. This video is a masterful expression of this desire and a wonderful homage to a great teacher.
I have always been an all or nothing guy and because of that, I no longer have a great project to play with. I hope I listen as well as Derek and enjoy the process to the destination as told through a great teacher.
Great video!
Your voice reminds me of Bob Ross just so calming and easy to listen to
Thanks Joe
He's the Bob Ross of the car world!
Will Ferrell 100 %
Thank you! Happy new year!
Happy New Year Derek and family....
Lookin forward to another year of a GUY'S adventure's.
Jessica is beautiful

Don't forget Theodore. He takes his supervisor and inspection roles very seriously.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who struggles with steering wheel installation, you gotta be a wizard to get those on the first time
I had to use a pry bar to get it on the first time!
FYI. Clamp the rim from the outside on the bottom. It makes it so the rim won't slip or come off the clamps like it did.
Ya with a manual and extra set of hands lol
What a trip back to memory lane. Dad had Jackman wheels on one of his square Suburbans, as we were growing up. We had and used that truck over 10 years, until he passed. Thank you for that.
I remember my dad purchased a 76 gmc 1/2 ton, 6 cyl, 3 on tree standard, 2x4, vinyl everything. New in 1976 for 3500$ canadian love the sq bodies. Love your show. Happy new year to you and your family.
I like how the shop lion is always close by doing quality control 😊
He makes sure things are done right!
😂😂😂 right!! He’s the boss man!!
Ya keeping things on a roll, no slack time lol
We have a dog on our channel and she’s lazy ha ha doesn’t dooooo nothing lol nah she’s a good ole piglet… lol
We get a cat might help save a few head liners here in the garage lol ha ha
I love to watch all your videos ! I'll be 75 soon and
Not able to do things like that anymore. My wife and I live in a lower income Sr Citizens apartment. It's small but comfortable. Sadly we had to let our car go back over a year ago but it's not to bad. We order our food and grocery stores deliver it. My wife can
only eat gluten free, and as for me well I go along with her because Love let's me do it.
I could watch Derek all day, but this channel gets even better when the little humans and or the lovely human helps out.
I like it also when the family gets involved
I think this is the only channel I will sit through a 3 plus hour of video. Derek, your videos are very enjoyable to watch, even if I already know how to do what I’m watching. Sorry about your job loss with motor trend. But this means I’ll be able to watch you more often right here.
Ya ya great videos. Idc how long we watch all of em, even Little Grip Garage too
We clip our videos all the way down to 1:30 and it’s tuff editing that much, idk how the man does it.
Putting the horn on at the end killed me. Thanks for countless hours of laughter.
Thank You Sir, for the wonderful episode of Vice Grip Garage. The 83 Square Body Chevy Farm Truck looks fantastic.
I’ve loved the revival on this truck! Basic, simple and can still be used👍🏻 these builds have inspired me to continue working on my 86 Ford.
Kudos. 👍
Thank you, Derek, for the squarebody marathon! Can't get enough of those old trucks
These budget dress'em ups right there in the shop are the best kind of videos
Fantastic content as usual. We appreciate the hard work with not only the revivals but also the editing of so many videos on a regular basis. A feller is making the world go 'round. As the great philosopher Joe Dirt once said: "Life's a garden: dig it."
Not sure if anyone said this already Derek but a neat trick with hole saws with no pilot bit is to spin them in reverse first when starting the hole, teeth don’t jump, saved me many a time stuff under a house or in attic
Thats a awesome looking fire chicken back there in the back 40 of the shop. Love the channel 🤘
Spending my birthday watching a rattlecan rebuild. What a great day !
Cheers! 👍🏻🍻
Never seen anybody else who knew about Jack man wheels!! I have an original set as well polished on my 79 f250!!! Got a feller fired up
Wish I could find a set...
Came here to say it, thank you.
Thanks!
I’m wetting the inside of my neck. Great video folks. So enjoyable. You’re all inspiring
Appreciate the kind words, and thanks for watching!
Your message at the end summed it up perfectly! A little goes a long way! My kind of channel!
Vice Grip's Friday uploads are always the best way to wrap the work week and relax watching... God Bless!
Derek i used a laquer pen paint pen to do mine. Great video. You only have to make yourself happy.
I change my oil
religiously.
Hi Derek, this is one of the better episodes very enjoyable.😂
Derek, just want to say this fella here in Northumberland UK , just can't get enough of you and the show. It's my daily fix... almost feels like we are family I spend that much time watching you. Keep doing what you ate doing and I'll keep spreading the word. Just ordered a guy a cap to represent the brand over the pond.
@On-TeIegarmThe_VioceGripGarage yep the truck turned out awesome, another great show....absolutely nailed it with the closing words. Such a good show. Thanks to all involved.
So nice that Jessica is right there beside you working. Having a supportive spouse is so wonderful. You guys are great! Thanks for sharing your adventures on youtube!
20 minutes until bath time for my grandson, Perfect timing!
I needed this, thanks Derek. Yesterday a fella broke his pinky metacarpal bone and dislocated his shoulder and this has been great to watch while recovering
1:37:10 my wife woke up and asked me if I heard a car horn. I told her she’s dreaming 😄
Man your videos have made me determined to rescue my grandpa's 1989 dodge d150 so happy for all the family content you make my kids and wife can always watch your videos thanks again Derrick
Do it man, that would be a heck of a video and memory… make someone’s day. Bet it would be a snazzy truck
I broke one of the gauge needles on our 1980...I glued a toothpick on the base and painted it orange!
This is the kind of thing that brings joy to my heart.
Glad you like it!
Best part of the weekend starting is a new Vice Grip video dropping. Watching while I get my 92 SVX fired up for the first time in 5 years. Never give up on them!
Awesome!
U got an awesome rat catcher 5000 there bierris!!
Great episode. Love the message at 1:50:58. A truly wonderful channel.
Said it before and I’ll say it again, nobody’s dropping more automotive content than this fella.
Heck no, we can’t keep up with the normal content schedule lol let alone all over the world he does..
To even have a couple channels, the mams got big shoes to keep up with and his son is comin in the race lol
Dang it, Derik...
I saw those wheels in the thumbnail and immediately thought, "Ooohhh someone is making old-school spoke wheels?"
Nope.
Read the words.
Love the vintage wheel choice!!!
🫤 😊
Thanks!
The new style white spokes just don't do it like the old Jackman wheels.
Love ya man!
Find anyone wearing blue they can show you where they hide them
Went looking for that section, only found 'craps and farts' 😅
I’ve seen him use a silver sharpie before and do that
Theodorable is a great cat.
Always enjoy watching your videos.
can't tell how gratefull i am to have you and your family in my life.
all those fabricated realityshows is for creapy bigcityfolks . my wife works nights and then i have vicegrip garage all by my self
love you guys.
keep on trucki'n😊
Just wanted to be on this adventure with you an your dad while watching! I reckon it’s time to do a proper static build again and this having a torsion rear is the perfect excuse 😁
Nothing like watching these videos then working on our old C10 with my kids. They are inspirational entertainment. Keep em coming...
Derek, i have a 77 K10 with a 396 swapped in ‘er, ive been workin my tail off on ‘er inbetween logging here in Idaho. Your videos are an inspiration and I hope you keep making them because they are very special. Thank you.
