Personally, I've never understood the hate Predator 2 gets. Honestly, it's no more campy than the original was (seriously, I love Predator, but some of the dialogue in the first one easily makes up for anything that happens in the sequel), and it's effectively the original, but in an urban, city environment. There is a skyline rather a jungle. It develops new ideas first explored in the Dark Horse comics, and it puts an unlikely individual in the centre of it all, trying to work out what's happened (ie Harrigan). I enjoyed Predators too, but you can hardly call it better when Predators was honestly a disguised remake of the first. Hell, a lot of the dialogue and sequences are pulled - almost scene for scene - from the first Predator movie.
The second one had such a conflicting tone and ruined some scenes, also some of the special effects aged worse than the original ones, but the dialogue was very cringy and annoying at times, I liked it but it’s very cliche with its plot, detective goes by his own rules and yells at his boss and does what he needs to bc hes committed to his job and after his buddy dies, he goes on a personal vendetta to avenge him, also the action was pretty lack luster, but really you can just change the predator with some mob boss or gangstar just with high tech weapons and it’s basically another 90s/80s cop film
I don't hate Predator 2, just not my favorite. I watch it every now and then. Though, I hate the start of the movie and why the Predator chose LA. It's so contrived. The streets are so violent, you'd think it's dystopian-Detroit and Robocop would pop in anytime.
My problem with Predators comes from the promise the trailer made. You see Adrien Brody's character cornered with like 2 dozens lasers on him. In the actual movie it's just 3.

I liked Alien vs Predator. I think it was a good time no alcohol required (Buy on Blue ray for me). Aliens vs Predator requiem was dogshit. Predator 2 was a good time, if your drunk.

The problem with that is that by learning more about the monster, it becomes less and less scary. Every time you learn something in a movie like this, it should just raise more questions, keeping the mystery factor and keeping the creature scary because we fear what we dont understand.

I saw this in theaters last year with a girl, and we both thought it was totally badass! As for Topher Grace, he was a doctor and therefore knew about the effects of floral toxins on the human body. Plus at that point they still thought they were on Earth, which would indicate that the plant does in fact exist on our planet. Anyway, this was hands down the best since the original P2 was ok, and the AVP movies were fun for what they were, but this was meant to be a serious franchise. Nice review

Ghostbusters 2 and the Hangover sequels (among plenty of other movie) had the habit of hitting the same beats at the same pace, and I personally think it was a waste of a production. If Predators is just a rehash of the original Predator, I think I'll just watch the 1st one and leave this one to those that spend most of their time living in fandom chat rooms *cough cough*.

I think the idea of New Predators taking over the old one was actually a pretty cool addition to the story. The movie did painfully slowed down during the explanation, but it does give the humans characters a strong reason/need to evolve so they can survive this supposed bigger threat and also gives the Predators a bit more of a dimension as the villains.
I actually really liked the whole backstory with the predators in this movie, I feel it gave them a little more depth in character, but I like the whole Expanded Universe type stuff so yeah....
Predator 2 was really good if Ur not comparing it 2 the original. the Spear, the Disc, the Net gun! the weaponry was clearly better but nothing will ever top the classic 87 original. Predator 2 still kicks both Avp's asses!!

Agree the "hunt" is the most exciting thing in the Predator movies, but we don't have to be unsophisticated do we? I do want to know about the Predator culture. Speaking of which, aside from the Predators as being intergalactic badasses, does anyone else think that the Wraith in the series Stargate Atlantis kick ass. I kept thinking that was Danny Glover and not Fishburne that I saw in this movie. it had been a long time watching this and I had gone back to Predator 2 and I thought his character got taken captive at the end and sent to that Planet.

Have to agree. If anything, made me like it even more for the fact that it's not just another jungle. The argument that a lore and backstory is irrelevant just because the original didn't have one is seriously flawed, for the simple fact that it takes more than one movie to create that backstory. Predators are hunters, who relish in challenge, that means hunting under any circumstances and environment. An alternating maze under the ice is perfect for that.
AVP was decent. I thought it got goofy when the Predator teamed up with the lady tho. And how she used an Alien head for a shield (sorry the acid blood is still in there).
Topher Grace's character could've identified the plant because it's implied (and stated by Rodriguez) that the planet was artificially created and that the Predators could've planted fauna and other creatures to assist in the hunt's creation.

I kinda like the mystery of the Predators, they don't speak so you have to work with "Show don't tell" and the one scene I liked in Predator 2 was the trophy scene.
To those who are saying crap about the movie,I read on an interview that this movie was just to see what the reaction of the fans were.They have been positive so a sequel will come.I mean come on they have so many ideas for a sequel and prequel. The prequel:It Can focus on Lawrence Fishbourne's character and the rivalry between the preds. The sequel:It can focus on the survivors of the movie and new characters and have more action scenes.Hell why not add the Aliens from AVP?

Also, noticed how this one tried to make social comentary by planting the question "who are the real monsters" but it failed because obviously the predators are the ones abducting humans against their will for fun...

I liked this one.I agree though the Laurence Fishborne part reminded me of the part in Pandorum when they ran into the canibal guy!Didn't really need that in the movie.Other then that good flick.
Agree the "hunt" is the most exciting thing in the Predator movies, but we don't have to be unsophisticated do we? I do want to know about the Predator culture. Speaking of which, aside from the Predators as being intergalactic badasses, does anyone else think that the Wraith in the series Stargate Atlantis kick ass. I loved the show, but I wish someone would have thought of putting these freaking, but very hip looking bad guys on the big screen first. What a waist of a good character. It could've been the sequel to the original Stargate movie. I mean how often does Hollywood really develop a good villain anyway?
I thought Predator 2 was good, and I enjoy Alien vs Predator, it's not good at all but it's fun to watch
I kept thinking that was Danny Glover and not Fishburne that I saw in this movie. it had been a long time watching this and I had gone back to Predator 2 and I thought his character got taken captive at the end and sent to that Planet.

Have to agree. If anything, made me like it even more for the fact that it's not just another jungle. The argument that a lore and backstory is irrelevant just because the original didn't have one is seriously flawed, for the simple fact that it takes more than one movie to create that backstory. Predators are hunters, who relish in challenge, that means hunting under any circumstances and environment. An alternating maze under the ice is perfect for that.

AVP was decent. I thought it got goofy when the Predator teamed up with the lady tho. And how she used an Alien head for a shield (sorry the acid blood is still in there).
Topher Grace's character could've identified the plant because it's implied (and stated by Rodriguez) that the planet was artificially created and that the Predators could've planted fauna and other creatures to assist in the hunt's creation.

I thought predator 2 was really good. Everyone always said it sucked so i never watched it until recently and when i did i was surprised at how good it was
I kinda like the mystery of the Predators, they don't speak so you have to work with "Show don't tell" and the one scene I liked in Predator 2 was the trophy scene.

To those who are saying crap about the movie,I read on an interview that this movie was just to see what the reaction of the fans were.They have been positive so a sequel will come.I mean come on they have so many ideas for a sequel and prequel.
The prequel:It Can focus on Lawrence Fishbourne's character and the rivalry between the preds.
The sequel:It can focus on the survivors of the movie and new characters and have more action scenes.Hell why not add the Aliens from AVP?

@Louis Dent My only complaint about Predator 2 is that I'm supposed to believe that Danny Glover could take on a Predator when Schwarzeneggers character barely made it out alive. Other than that I liked the idea of L.A. as a hunting ground.
