Omg this is the only video I could find that showed this particular problem. And I actually tried to download drivers like you showed in the video but it doesn't seem to be working for some reason and my touchpad isn't working and neither is the pointer visible on the screen until I put in an external mouse.
It sounds like there may be more going on than just outdated drivers. This might be something you'd want a professional to take a look at.

3:34 why do you fade? I got this far but it doesn't seem to download or install new driver.
Sorry to hear that! Initially, I didn't think that people wanted to watch the download process since it's pretty straight forward after the steps I showed to find the driver and hit download. "Straight forward" is relative, however, and I understand that something I know how to do may not be obvious to everyone! If you're struggling to find where it downloaded, look under "downloads" in your file folders or use your search function to locate it. My window conveniently shows my downloads at the bottom left of my screen so I don't have to go hunting. ;) Good luck!
@@realmelissasimo If you go to 3:34 in the video, you will see what this person was actually asking about...it's when you double-click "pnputil" to install the driver, but then you fade to black and cut straight to your computer being restarted and fixed - you don't show what happened after the aforementioned double-click - i.e. does a dialogue box come up that says it was successfully installed, and you should now restart, or what??

That is very strange! I’m not sure what would cause it to happen more than once. That may be a job for an in-person service if it’s getting in the way of work or everyday activities. Good luck!
the touchpad driver doesnt show for me for some reason my model is UX534
i fixed it, i realized that i didnt update my laptop so that it wouldnt work

Has the exact same problem. I just searched my model ASUS q405u followed the process, downloaded The atk driver, & the touchpad driver. installed them, & my touchpad started working after restart. On the intial install of the touchpad driver, it seems like it didn't install. but I ran the install. & the touchpad appeared after restart. Thanks.

I just wanted to ask what do I do it the pnputil does not work, ergo I can not install the updated driver. I am facing the exact same problem but after downloading the driver it won't let me install it

-Press Windows key + X
-Go to Device Manager
-Expand the Human Interface Device
-Look for HID Touchpad driver that was installed
-Right click and Update
-Look for "Browse my computer for driver
-Let me pick drivers available drivers
-Choose an old driver and use it.

Hi Melissa, I'm having a little problem following the steps, when I search in the asus page for the driver for my model, that is x509ja, there is no atk driver in the list. Any ideas what it could be or where I can find it? Thank you

Kuldeep- I'm not sure that it's a Windows 10 upgrade problem. Those two things did not coincide for me when I was experiencing this issue. However, if your computer is not recognizing when you turn on/off your touchpad, you may need to hit the function key + the touchpad key to get it to pop up. If it still is not working, try installing the drivers first before testing that button since it doesn't appear to be effective in your case for solving or testing. Good luck! I hope you're able to get things back up and running ;)

Rica, you should be able to find this info on the back or under the bottom of your laptop. It's usually a combination of letters and numbers near a lot of other very technical info. Good luck!
