Float fishing is how I started my angling journey and I'm always drawn back to it. There's nothing quite like the anticipation of that float being pulled under. Excellent video as usual, mate. Some great tips here too.
Indeed, but I also feel like fishing with a feeder and waiting for the tip of the rod to bend is beating the anticipation of the float going under haha, but both feel great
Hey Carl, I caught a new p.b mirror carp yesterday, of 24.6lb!! My last was 15lb, Let's go!!! Thanks for all the tips you've shared, I've learnt so much!
The Frogs are Marsh Frogs (Pelophylax ridibundus). They are not native to the UK but were introduced into Kent in the 1930's and have expanded their range across the SE of England.
Hello Carl and Alex I just wanted to say I love watching you fishing. Teaching me knew methods in fishing tutorials and seeing you abroad. I'm going on a fishing holiday in tiland next year so can't wait to see some more videos.❤
Great video as always. On my local lakes, I almost always have a second rod out on the float for the silvers, hardly anyone fishes for them (Most are after the Carp) and the average size is gradually going up year by year. The biggest problem has been fishing fine enough to attract the big Roach and Rudd but having enough grunt to cope when a Carp hits, which often happens to me on casters, breadflake or Tares. Recently switched over to Gamma line and am using the 7.9lb breaking strain Gamma Edge fluoro, this is around the thickness of 4lb mono so I am getting more bites but has enabled me to deal with the bigger stuff as well. Not cheap but the catch rates have increased dramatically from fishing standard 6lb mono and it is less prone to shearing if a fish has you in the snags or pads.
You don’t actually need float stops for the drennan puddle chuckers Carl, you pull the little band looking part over the line and it holds it in place, used them for several years wouldn’t use anything else. Love the videos btw!
My local lake growing up had a huge hill on one edge (it was supposed to be a dry ski slope but the project fell through) I remember the first time we took a walk up there to look down on the lake for carp only to see dozens and dozens of super bright golden orfe chilling in the sun. We had a lot of fun summers pulling those out. I presume they had been dumped there by someone as the lake used to be part of a sewage treatment plant and had never officially been stocked by anyone.
awesome video Carl! float fishing does bring back childhood memories to me as well, i love it. i was a complete noddy back then and didnt really know what i was doing and nowadays i mostly do specimen fishing for carp, pike, barbel etc. so in float fishing im still the same noddy which is perfect for nostalgic purposes :) it just makes it more fun when i actually catch something on a float :) learned a lot again, so thanks.
Deffinately getting a waggler setup after this to relive my youth, so much fun float fishing on the rod and on the pole, cheeky little orfes made me laugh, stunning tench mate and top quality video, thanks for the content
Hello Carl. I only ever float fish. I have a 13ft rod which I rarely use, I mostly use my 9ft dropshot rod with a stick float. The river is terrible for weeds and snags and between 20’ and 10’ wide. The spot I tend to prefer is the wide part but I fish close in where is about 4’ deep.
@@pleasantville4529 thank you there's a few Carp in there aswell mainly tench tho but some fish have got into the lake from a flood next to another lake so I have to go cut all the greenery away so I can fish but it's gonna be worth it for sure
Have you ever fished on the river Great Ouse ? The Cambridgeshire stretch is very nice and pretty and has a variety of different locations and fisheries on and adjacent to it. Could definitely make a good video
This is show true, waiting for your waggler to Bob under with a couple of red maggots on, is what fishing is all about, first cast this morning a tree , second cast a 2lb Golden Tench , epic. Then a duck with 9 chicks, perfect, another great video.❤
I'd say you were lucky.. cos I think the frogs were "pool frogs" due to the amount of green on them and the fact they were extra noisy. They aren't that common in many parts of the UK so I appreciated seeing and hearing them 👍😂
Today i fished for the very first time as an adult and all by myself. Im laughing out loud, because thanks to this video, i realised i had to make a loop on the end of my line to attach the hook, but i used the half blood knot since thats the only one i know😅. Worked perfectly fine of course, but i will use the loops in the future!
Nice tench Last month i was surface fishing for carp using bread bombs and to my amazement i caught a 5lb tench this is the first time in my life ive caught a tench off the top 😅
I've just seen a premier locslide float waggler in action with a bait cage feeder. Have you tryed them i just brought two.if so love to see your set up.
Hi bro, I am a big fan of yours, I am really impressed in the cool way you do your fishing. I regularly go for float fishing. The float fishing rod which you have is not available in my area that thing disappoint me a lot, if I can have the same fishing rod then I can fish like you do.
Very nice stuff. I’m in the US and we have so many large, unbothered and frankly unsophisticated carp. I subscribed to learn more about European methods. We catch lots with standard spinning gear and sweet corn.
Love your videos Carl, so helpful for me and my lad, thanks for the content! Could I ask how you would set up in going for barbel in a pond/lake please? The pond is 12 foot deep at the deepest point centrally and there’s an under water oxygen pump at one end of it. The pond is slightly smaller than an Olympic sized pool. I was thinking about luncheon meat, on a hair, ledgered, near the oxygen pump? Any advice would be much appreciated 😊
No they're an ornamental variety called Golden Orfe otherwise known as Ide - love them (Leuciscus idus). They are a favourite choice for ponds but I don't see them stocked in fishing lakes very very often :)

The best fishing channel by far. So refreshing to have someone other than a tradesman from Essex talking about fishing

I didn't come here for this but thanks for posting that's pretty interesting tbf
Invasive means you can use them as pike bait right?
They are plentiful and very vocal on the Romney Marsh
I'm sure these are what end up as frogs legs in France! Bloody tasty to.
nerd
Its nice to see you bringing a true coarse fishing set up to you videos with a box and sidetray etc, another cracking video Carl your doing brilliant

Can't beat a bit of float fishing
Agreed! :)
I’ve always struggled with float fishing so hopefully this can help
Float fishing for carp is great, What do you struggle with? Finding the depth?
@@wink1eafc774just setting the whole rig up 🫣 I always follow these videos then when I make it and go to my local pond it’s just not correct

All good stuff Carl . Nice to see you getting the younger generation fishing 😄👍
6:19 is this white shape in the weeds on the left a dead fish?
I like that carl is as clumsy with his new seat box as I am with mine😂. It's some getting used to involved😂
Once again producing helpful videos carl 😁👍
Great video found a lake full of tench and bream that's been left alone with the naturals there they must be massive
Have fun. Finding such a lake in this day and age is rare.
