      So true.
This isn't to say that the ineptness of my Browns doesn't contribute, but the reason most NFL QBs don't make it is... they were never going to make it, they just didn't translate well enough into the NFL.
Johnny Manziel literally had the same arm of A J McCarron, and yet I heard so many talk about the 'rocket' Johnny had. The difference is, A J would actually set his feet and follow through... so I have no clue what Manziel Disciples were watching when talking about his 'cannon'.
Take the addictions away, and Johnny still would have had a limited NFL Skill Set to work with.
But instead of figuring out why it didn't translate to the NFL, people take the easy route of just putting all the blame on the Drafting Team. If Johnny was good, he'd be somewhere else in the NFL. Kizer, to his credit, has stuck around. How's he done at those places?
But there is someone out there convinced that Kizer just hasn't got to the right team, and if he ever does he'll be Dan Marino. No way it could be on Kizer.

@@theclimbto1 lol the issue with both QBs is. the didnt know how read defenses.
johnny would 9/10 times would either run regardless if a WR is "open" or would only throw to mike evans for the 50/50 stuff but the 1/10 would be him just throwing to completely open WR or just rush around until one became open. not hard to design a defense to fight that. 2nd Johnny was doomed from day 1 regardless of the team he went to. he would party instead of film study or prepare for the next game. johnny couldnt even make it the CFL that has the talent of a FBS college teams. so not much better then high school.
Deshone- was similar in this way. one he had a poor excuse of a head coach. but was also known to not put his focus into film study and preparing for next game. minus the partying like johnny. he was also a QB who couldnt read a defense. he would often times over throw, under throw WRs. he held onto the ball too long. meaning he didnt trust his WRs abilities. which imo Browns in 2017 had talent at WRs and TEs. not the best. but not bad that he couldnt trust them. which also hurt their career imo. neither these QBs imo shouldve been NFL QBs or shouldve been back ups. but between Johnny and Deshone. i think Deshone had more of a football IQ then Johnny. as a browns fan. i didnt want either of these guys. i wanted derek carr back in 2013/2014. again imo. but again i also blame the coaching staff for not fitting the offense around their skill type or playing ability. like the chiefs and ravens did mahomes and jackson. or the bills to josh rosen. seeing it now with baker mayfield and kevin im not even gonna bother trying to spell his last name lol. safanskie? has done. he built the new offense around baker ability to move outside of the pocket to make throws. plus adding more protection with 2 TE sets and good running game.

Okay so I’m not an expert, but it feels like it’s a combination of 2 things. 1. He wasn’t ready to be a franchise QB. He needed time to develop and wasn’t given that. It seems like Kizer was a Project QB, like Jordan Love is, who seem to have talent but needed to time to develop. 2. The Browns and Hue Jackson outright did a terrible job at developing him. Idk if they were thinking that they were already terrible so let’s try to develop him by starting him right away or they believed in his potential so much that they could win now with him, but they threw him out there too early and he got slaughtered. I think what also didn’t help his confidence was the constant benching and then putting him back out there. Hue Jackson just wasn’t no Andy Reid to say the least.

DePodesta and Sashi never wanted him.
He was selected to shut Hue up. Now Hue had his 'Tall, Big Armed' QB. If Hue failed now, it's on Hue.
See, Hue came to the Browns known as a QB Whisperer. Yet every time he was asked to put his name next to an NFL Franchise QB... he passed. While Sashi and DePo weren't sold on Wentz, neither was Hue. The next Draft Hue passed on calling for HIS QB as well. He wanted a Safety over Watson (Malik, and he didn't get the S either, since he didn't take the QB Sashi took another position). He passed on the dude that went to the Bears, not that this was a bad thing.
This was the guy that was supposed to come in, and select our FQB. The REST of the Draft was Sashi, but Hue held the QB Keys. And every time they came to him... instead of flexing his great QB Picking Ability... he passed. Then he'd blame the FO for his QB situation.
Finally he called for a QB, and the QB he called for was Kizer. Tall, Big Arm. Couldn't hit the barn. He could throw it over the mountain, only because he couldn't hit the mountain.
Hue was brought to Cleveland for ONE THING, and I guess his theory was as long as he didn't actually pick a QB he couldn't be blamed for the QB, which was the ONE THING he was brought in for.

@@theclimbto1 No sure where you got this but none of this was correct. There was an ESPN article about it where they interviewed many of the staff and that was not the story that came out. Browns didn't have a starter going into the 2016 season and Hue wanted them to trade for a veteran (specifically Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo) as he has a strict policy about NOT starting rookies at QB (as we saw in 2015 when he brought in RG3 and 2017 When he brought in Taylor and his one year with the raiders when he brought in Carson Palmer). Sashi went against that and instead drafted Kizer in the second round with no vet, FORCING Hue to start him since the only other players on the team were a late round draft pick from the year before (Cody Kessler) and a practice squad QB (Kevin Hogan).
Hue eventually had a temper tantrum mid season about having a starting QB who wasn't ready playing, demanding they bring in a veteran which is when the ill fated botched trade for AJ McCarron fell through and Sashi then got fired for being terrible at his job and Hue was given a one year reprieve from ownership since he had to deal with a rookie GM that basically sabotaged the team. The 2017 season was then the plan as Hue wanted it originally when they get their vet (Taylor) and drafted a rookie (Mayfield) with the rookie sitting his first year and learning behind the vet.

@@jasonfrost6448 Hue throws EVERYONE under the bus. There is no back Hue doesn't stab.
Sashi SAVED Cleveland by not over-paying for an unproven A J McCarron, like Hue wanted.
We know Hue likes Big, Tall, Big-Armed QBs.
We know Analytics HATES Kizer, because he was highly inaccurate and it showed in the College Stats. So we know Depo's Analytics didn't pick Kizer.
So if the Math says Kizer is NOT the pick, then why did the Browns take Kizer in the 2nd? To appease Hue.
They already took an Analytics QB in Cody Kessler the Season before. The FO was good with trying to groom Kessler (not saying that's the right move, either).
And yes, Hue banged the drum for A J... because he had to blame some one so it wouldn't be his fault. Nothing can ever be Hue's fault.
It's not hard to put the pieces together. The Browns burnt a 2nd Round Pick to appease the HC. Then the GM absolutely sabotaged the Trade Deadline Deal for A J McCarron, helping the Team by not caving to Hue's stupidity.
Hue was not a victim, was not a savior, was not a martyr.
Sashi on the other hand did what he was brought in to do, created value, stock piled picks. Hell, he got a 4th Round Pick for a Punter.
Sashi is gone because Depot didn't have the pull at the time to keep him, and Hue is a Snake Charmer. It's one thing he's actually good at.
You can see we brought back Berry, who is a Depo Guy. You can see Hue is long gone. People forget, ABOVE Sashi was Depo... it's his Plan, his Scheme. Sashi did what Depot brought him in to do.
Hue on the other hand KNEW it was a Rebuild, took the job... then cried that it was a rebuild, and blamed everyone else for his own failings.

As a Browns fan, he was downright putrid his one season on Cleveland. Stats may say he was ok, but his situational awareness was horrible and he was incredibly inaccurate. If we had McCown or even RG3 again we probably win 2 games that year.

I didn’t know he only came out after two years, that was a BIG mistake. Other positions yeah if you’re that dude you can come out of school after two years, but QBs need at LEAST three years because it’s more mental than physical. I felt bad for kizer, the only game were the '17 browns played great and looked like they were about to win was against the packers before Brett hudley lead a comeback and sent the game in overtime. I watched it live and when the browns won the coin toss they eagerly said we want the ball and it looked like they were about to win before kizer threw the ball up for grabs and it was of course intercepted

DeShone "Red Zone Turnover" Kizer. He and Hue Jackson were the biggest reasons for 0-16. Kizer's repeated bumbling, miscues and turnovers in the red-zone cost the '17 Browns any chance to win games. He had a 9.5% turnover rate in the red-zone when the league average for QBs was 1.3%. Even by woeful Pet Cemetery Browns' QB standards, Kizer was awful! However, he had no business being on the field. He was a developmental project whom Hue Jackson thrust into the starting role because Hue was convinced he could "coach-up" Kizer's glaring deficiencies on the fly.
