I just purchased a bb54 and I can’t take it off my wrist . It is so charming and I think it’s design is perfect and it is the ultimate black bay. The proportions are perfect , as well and the bracelet is beautiful , comfortable and functional with the t fit clasp. This watch made me realize how much of the bb58 I really didn’t like mainly the gilt colouring on the bezel and the markers from 10-15.
"I just purchased a bb54 and I can’t take it off my wrist" There is a little safety clasp that you lift up and you can then open the the main clasp to allow the bracelet to pass over your hand. Viola, glad to help.
Agreed, the 58 bezel just looks busy. The 0-15 markings and red triangle were already a lot, and at least those were vintage accurate. Adding the gilt was just overkill.
Together with the Explorer 1 the BB54 is probably the best modern watch for smaller wrists. Thanks for showing them side by side here as well! Great review :)
For me, the best value for money is the BB54 for less than 4000 euros with a T clasp, without rivets or with real rivets and a transparent case back to watch the movement. Or the PELAGOS 39 with better worked angles and a transparent background.
I went to the AD to get a 58. Put the 54 on my 6.5" wrist and it was love at first sight. Took it home and have been very happy with it since. Fantastic watch.
Nice video and presentation as always. I am a 58 owner the only negative i see on the 54 is the lack of a pop on the bezel if it only had a red triangle around the pip
Its just so close, but the saying goes you never find a perfect watch and that is what keeps us looking. Also what are your thoughts on the tfit clasp i want one for my 58.

Great choice. Looks good as it has less gilt, wears great due to the thinner case. Smaller but still substantial enough, agree it makes a great daily driver.

Tudor made an outstanding decision with the Black Bay 54; bold and respectful to its past. These complains against the size commit the mistake of seeing only crude numbers, not considering how the entire design gives it the substance that the case diameter seemingly doesn't have. In my opinion it's much more versatile, capable and better looking than the Rolex Explorer.

As somebody already mentioned here the 9h and 6h marks are also slightly off. This should never be for this price of course. I checked the offers on Chrono24 and saw a few of the watches there have the same issue. Maybe this is because Tudor produces a brand new model in a brand new factory, from my work experience I know that exactly under such conditions something like that can happen. So it can make sense to wait a bit with a purchase until their quality assurance has improved the imperfections in the production process.

Now it`s time to get another Tudor and I`m struggling with the decision betwenn the Black Bay with in red or the Black Bay 54… both are gorgeous. Since I have a rather small wrist, the 54 might be the better choice and also a better color fit for evryday use. Oh boy… Tudor really got me, no more Rolex for me! 😅
Have you heard of any of the baton markers being slightly crooked? My 3oclock on my 54 looks slightly raised on the left side of the baton at 3. It's the strangest thing. Can't tell if it's an illusion.
I'm very happy to hear that you find the best Tudor for you! Less can be more, if that's what you're into. It most certainly is not for me. LOL! My wife thinks the BB54 is too small for my 7.3" wrist. She actually compared it to me wearing skinny jeans. 🤣 Thank you for sharing that bit about the T-fit clasp! It's a very neat and useful feature! One that lot's have complained about as a design flaw! 😂
haha! good one! I think, the best is to try it on and see if it really works for you. depending what size of watches your wear on a daily basis. For the Wife's challenge I would had answered: "what's wrong with skinny jeans? I'm getting the 54!" :D Cheers!
Only disagree on one part: The number one rule, like all things you wear, is proper proportion. It's hard to go too small, but very easy to look clownishly large.
I know it is the watch of the moment, but the 54 looks a bit tiny on your wrist. Have you considered the 58? The 58 is so well proportioned for a sports watch. It also borrows from classic Tudors and Rolex without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is it’s own thing. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle pays homage to the Rolex Big Crown, the large coin edge crown with matching bezel makes it unique and again borrows from the Rolex Big Crown, and I love the snow flake seconds hand. It is unique in design. By the way, 39 mm is on the smaller side for a modern sized sports watch. I think anything smaller is vintage territory. I think of your going for a diver do 58, going for a small vintage tool watch with a bezel do 54.
I have 35 watches. If the 54 had a date, i would sell all my watches apart from one and the 54 would be my perfect watch. I cant bear a watch without a date.
Thanks for your hard work and great vid. Is your lumepip off centre as is many of the bb54s it looked like it to me when i could get a glimpse. I have definitely seen it in other examples of this watch and I think it is inexcusable for Tudor to send them out like that. Because I was looking out for it I couldn't help noticing that the pip was cropped out of shots on a close up level. That of course could be my imagination, and yours is probably spot on. But there is defo a problem there. Cheers.
Looks super 👌🏻👌🏻.. only miss a date window at 6 🙄.. if you should put a rubber on it, make it a white tropic 👌🏻, it would be very cool! Thanks for a nice review, you are top 🙌🏻
I like the variety this one brings - a triangle, rectangles, circles and a square all harmonising on the dial. I think it's a clever build on the standard diver-style dial with one additional shape.
Fantastic review, thank you! I appreciate your insight on the BB54. I've had my eye on the 58 for some time (albeit in blue), however; this release is definitely on my list of potential watches for when I change careers down the road. A major milestone kind of watch (for me, I mean).
Looks odd to me without the guilt markings on the aluminum bezel insert. Personally I’d personally get the 39mm BB58 once they update the clasp. I think 39-40mm even on my small 6.5” is as small as I like my dive watches. I also wish Tudor would release the red bezel Black Bay in the 58 (39mm size). I’d still rather get a Pelagos 39mm though for the titanium and ceramic insert. I’m just holding out for a blue Pelagos 39.
Have you tried on the rubber strap with the T fit clasp? It is absolutely phenomenal and is defo worth getting. Imo over the bracelet as I hate the faux rivets.

Thank you for sharing that bit about the T-fit clasp!
Love it! Perfect all around. Now if only I wanted another diver. Sigh.
I personally never liked the 58. It just felt like a better sized 41 mm version for me.
54 is better proportioned and wears better. Looks great, disappears on the wrist. Looks crisper with the toned-down bezel.
To each their own.
I have 35 watches. If the 54 had a date, i would sell all my watches apart from one and the 54 would be my perfect watch. I cant bear a watch without a date.
Serious diving contender and gorgeous simplicity……the size is very nice and easily has more interest than the Rolex Explorer. 👍👍👍
North Flag fan, great content!
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you :)
Got the BB54 and it is amazing! 😍
Congrats! :)
The black bay looks great but my favourite is the new black pelagos.
Cheers.
Solid choice 🫡
Beautiful watch , just a tad small for me
Great review 👍
Thank you! :)
I remember you didn't like Seiko 5 Sports 38mm in turquoise because it's too small. Isn't the BB54 even smaller?
Cute little baby watch
Looks super 👌🏻👌🏻.. only miss a date window at 6 🙄.. if you should put a rubber on it, make it a white tropic 👌🏻, it would be very cool! Thanks for a nice review, you are top 🙌🏻
Hello thank you for your video. Nice bb54. What is your strap at 5:25 of the video please? Thx
it's a 7friends&watches rubber strap with a fabric insert. 7friendsandwatches.com/p/rubber-and-canvas-watch-strap-cream/
I was thinking I would get the 54 instead of the 58. Divers, in general, are a little bit over bulky and tacky in that regard if you ask me.
I can't get over the mismatched gilt on the dial + silver on the bezel. If those matched (with either gilt or silver), this would be perfect for me.
The bronze + GMT offers something that Rolex never will. Maybe one day
I love it , just looks tiny on my wrist don’t think I can pull it off .
It depends how big yours wrists are. Or precisely what's your range size.
However, if you have the chance. Try it on and see how it looks :) cheers!
It’s strange but I can’t get the new Tudour Ranger out of my mind. This looks a great size for you.
Cheers, I just got a ranger for review. Can't wait to try it on :)
@@BraveBeaters Oh, Oh! This may be the third watch I buy after watching your videos lol.😮
I am so happy with my 54, but am already considering pairing it with a Ranger at some point.
Love the tasteful vintage restraint of these two models.
I wish it just had stick hands. I love snowflake hands but only with square markers like on the pelagos. That’s just my opinion though
Agreed, but then they'd be stepping on their big brother's toes ( like also having the date).
I am pretty sure they will make a pencil hands version in the future :)
A major milestone kind of watch (for me, I mean).
the blue version is very cool as well! :)
But yes, if you have the chance to try on the wrist, do it :D
Looks odd to me without the guilt markings on the aluminum bezel insert. Personally I’d personally get the 39mm BB58 once they update the clasp. I think 39-40mm even on my small 6.5” is as small as I like my dive watches. I also wish Tudor would release the red bezel Black Bay in the 58 (39mm size). I’d still rather get a Pelagos 39mm though for the titanium and ceramic insert. I’m just holding out for a blue Pelagos 39.
BB54 VS P39 which one you prefer?
Great review. Like your style and videography. Including the specs in list form was also helpful.
Is it 127g on a sized or unsized bracelet?
Thank you very much! 127 is without 2 links, sized :)
Should i sell my Pelagos 39 and buy this one instead ? Or both can co-exist in the collection ?
Have you tried on the rubber strap with the T fit clasp? It is absolutely phenomenal and is defo worth getting. Imo over the bracelet as I hate the faux rivets.
I was thinking to buy it as well. Technically, I should need the rubber and the t fit mount from the clasp, the rest is the same
37mm and 39mm are actually aimed at lady customers and just a handful of men with tiny wrists. Most men fit 41 to 43mm.
I prefer the design language and features of this bb54, if they do this improvements to the bb58 I´d go for it, 39mm goes more with my style
A watch that looks good on pretty much any strap
