Im using the airpods pro now as a hearing aid and returned my widex hearing aids to the provider. These airpods were a lifesaver yesterday as we went to a movie (Beetlejuice) I was able to enjoy the movie with my wife without sacrificing me hearing.
This is an excellent analysis. It is the best I've seen because it takes a broad view of the implications of Apple's involvement as well as giving clear account of what they are offering. Thank you.
The feature of the AirPods Pro 2 that interests me most is noise isolation. My main reservation is Apple's specification for battery life. When I wear my present (expensive) hearing aids eighteen hours they still have more than 10% charge left.
The Apple test indicates I have no hearing loss in my left ear and mild in my right ear. In actuality I have moderate in my left and severe to profound in my right. I’m not sure the hearing test is calibrated correctly
I am retired military with a mild (left side) to moderate hearing loss (right side). I also suffer from tinnitus episodes, which is triggered by loud noises (such as a nearby police or fire truck siren). The tinnitus episodes are miserable and usually last for about 24 hours. Thus, I am VERY excited about the Apple AirPodPro2’s upcoming combined Hearing Protection and Hearing Aid functionality…supported by a single (very comfortable to wear) rechargeable device.
Very comprehensive and clear analysis of the latest from Apple on hearing loss and how Apple is approaching this. My experience using the current Apple approach with Mimi hearing test and airpords pro does result in a real hearing enhancement and especially useful for listening to TV and audio streaming where the noise cancelling feature improves the overall listening experience - more so than current RIC hearing aids. Medical grade HA's which are correctly programmed to your hearing loss does have better speech processing but at c$300 someone with mild hearing loss can get a hearing improvement with the Apple tech. Good to see companies like Apple and Sony entering the hearing enhancement market and also the recent trend for the big HA manufacturers to buy companies such as Bose and Jabra to integrate the complementary technologies from the CE market.
Last year I have bought the AirPod pro 2 to improve my hearing, but it was not working well. When I increased the volume the background noise increased as well. Then I visited an audiologist and tested an Oticon hearing aid. The difference was huge, in fact the AirPods are a real waste of money. I will test the new AirPod hearing aid feature for sure, but I do not except a lot.
I have a moderate hearing loss and i wear a oticon hearing aid. Should i let my audiologist know if i can replace my regular hearing aids to the airpods as a hearing aid?
Excellent presentation, thank you Dr. In Audiology (AuD). Since I’m almost 77-yr of age my audiogram taken in audiologist office (did not try Apple Mimi app hearing test yet 😊) showed that I have mild to moderate hearing loss in low to mid range frequencies and severe loss in high frequencies. So, AirPods Pro2 2 I have will pass to my elder daughter so she can take better advantage of AP Pro2 new exciting software developments. She expressed a fear that maybe she can lost them in her busy life, but there are alternatives how to avoid loosing them, right. I wear not regularly lately Resound Omnia 9 HA and hopefully they should serve me better, but I have never tested the HA like I did w/ the AP Pro2 2 using the pods successfully for wirelessly connected to in-flight entertainment, listening to music, or simply 100% noise cancellation while flying and trying to rest on the plane? Once again very appreciate your professional, consized and very informative presentation of the new software features of AirPods Pro2 2.
Some of the hearing improvement features are already in place. What’s new in iOS 18 is the implementation is now friendly, the hearing test is built in and it’s clinically validated, it’s possible to fine tune the results, and iOS 18 and AirPods Pro2 are FDA approved OTC hearing aids.
Apple has already done a lot of improvements related to hearing care. Like made for hearing aids to improve call and media streaming. Apple Music has improved sound bandwidth that helps make hearing easier. If you have hearing loss you will have an increase in dementia and Alzheimer’s and memory loss.
I'm so depressed and angry that this feature is disabled in Canada because Government regulations who made my hearing health decisions. I'd rather be deaf than buy shitty expensive hearing aids that I wouldn't want to wear. Canada is one of the few countries in the entire world that is this repressive. I will return my Air Pods Pro 2 today.

AirPods Pro’s are wildly uncomfortable. I can’t wear my pros for more than an hour at a time

Exactly how are “we” going to get all of our hearing test results?

Here in Canada we don’t get the hearing aid feature. 😩
What! Shit, I was going out to buy a pair tomorrow. Thanks for the warning.
@ Our socialist system doesn’t work!

PS: Thank you for this very good video!
Hello. What is your hearing loss percentage? Mine is between 60 and 65 percent. If I buy Airpod 2 Pro, will I hear?
@@mogulserrano9499 mine is between 45 and 60 in the high frequency area over 1kHz

So, what happens if you have worse than moderate?
What percentage of hearing loss can use it? %40 - %50 - %60?
It would be helpful if they could consider giving a CROS hearing aid function for people with single sided deafness
So, are these options in place now, or do we have to wait for software?
I’m pretty sure we have to wait till IOS 18.1 to come out in October

For the $, I'll try these. I have software for the big brand that I wear. It'll be interesting to compare results.
do they work with other phones, or do you have to have an apple phone
You can use a friends iPhone to download to your AirPod 2.
You resemble Billie Eilish 😊

Can you vpn to the us?
Are the 3d glasses going to replace regular glasses?
…. “Mild to moderate” hearing loss. Sorry, expensive hearing aids are still necessary.
Brava! For looking at options! I want this doctor as my audiologist.
