    • @cleverman383
      @cleverman383 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And the normal non-fused weapons having terrible durability in this game makes sense because they're all decayed from the gloom, with NPCs commenting that all of the weapons in Hyrule are practically useless unless you do something to improve them (which for Link is the fusing mechanic)

  • @gamer3ed484
    @gamer3ed484 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    It kinda has a Link Between Worlds vibe to it. In that, it uses the player’s past knowledge of the map to reward you for going to these little spots in the world.
    And it’s crazy just how much is in this game. Genuinely everywhere I went, I found new materials, new enemies, and new locations.
    It’s scary just how large it is.
    I also love that they pretty much addressed every single complaint with BOTW. WAAAAY more enemy variety, QOL features and missed opportunities from BOTW fixed and addressed. Minor spoilers further below.
    My jaw literally dropped when I found out you could craft things to negate sliding while climbing in the rain. Little things like that make everything so much cooler. The first place I went was to the Great Plateau, and Link’s House, and was pleasantly surprised to find my investment in these key locations from the last game rewarded with engaging things to do and find.
    Nintendo really captured lightning in a bottle a second time, and I’m awestruck.

      @Jonas Holm I can't tell you how many times I died because I was replaying BotW last week and I kept forgetting I didn't have the paraglider yet in TotK. Luckily I have it now. 😂

    • @cleverman383
      @cleverman383 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I played the first few days I had TotK without the paraglider or map or camera because I assumed it was like BotW where after doing the Great Plateau you could just go wherever you want in any order, but a lot of the shrines aren't even possible without the paraglider.
      And even if you get to the map towers, you can't do anything with them until you're told about them in the story. Which is frustrating if you go through a ton of effort to get to them, and you can't even activate their fast travel point, so you're going to need to redo the entire process of getting to the tower again later.
      You also can't collect the dragon tears until doing Impa's quest, even if you find them.
      And getting the final rune ability is locked behind doing a quest which itself is arbitrarily locked behind completing the first dungeon, for no real reason except to prevent you from getting it early.
      I miss the freedom of "Did you finish the Great Plateau? Great! Now go anywhere you like. Including the final boss if you feel like it, why not! Just have fun!"
      (The only content that you can legitimately say was locked behind a quest in BotW after the Great Plateau was going to the locations in the photos for Link's memories.)

    Totally agree that the Korok seeds and the shrines kind of felt like "ok, do we really need to do this again?" But they're still fun. Everything else though feels like a completely different game. Even Hyrule has changed so much that I feel like I'm exploring it for the first time again.

    • @jeremywright9511

      Korok style puzzles have always existed in Zelda games, you'd find something that looks kind of out of place, and you'd solve the puzzle, and get a piece of heart or something. Even if they got rid of the Koroks, it would have just been a different thing with the same Korok style puzzles. Remember gold skultulas?
      For instance, would it really have improved TOTK for you if they had the same exact style puzzles, but instead of a Korok popping out after you solved it, you got a golden fish, and then you could search for a magical cat spirit and feed it the golden fish for more inventory space?

    I think the only bad part about the game so far for me is that the glider showed in the beginning has a time limit of use. Like after a while in the air it just blinks green and despawns so you can't make a full on plane with it. I wanna do EVERYTHING in this game.
    EDIT. I actually discovered a major issue with the game I have. Personal gripe, but many share the same sentiment as me. When selecting items for your bow to fuse with... It takes way to long to navigate to what you want specifically. It would be ideal to have different sections that only contain certain items and navigating via Up and Down on the right stick. Even just having a favorites bar where you can choose like 5 items and only have them in a section. "Most Used" flip flops between so many different items.

    • @cleverman383
      @cleverman383 ปีที่แล้ว

      At least they let you deploy a second glider from your inventory while you're falling. Or third, or fourth, or fifth, and so on. So as long as you're willing to use up your Wing Capsules you can keep gliding. But it's kind of a weird feature so I'd honestly prefer if they just gave it a battery meter like the other devices and stop gliding when the battery runs out instead of the weird despawn mechanic

    Breath of the Wild was a masterpiece. Tears of the Kingdom, having only played nearly the entire tutorial section, is by far even better. I know it's premature to say but the moment that solidified that for me was, surprisingly enough, after encountering the first chu chus! I went from "look, the useless little jelly guys" to "i need to be careful with these guys and make sure to get the jellies" so fast because i realized every enemy now has there own weaknesses. The resources are not wasted at all this time around. Spoiler alert for a section during the tutorial sky isands: the section before, during and after seeing the Like likes reminded me entirely of the old Zelda games. It was perfection. Those moments alone made me realize I'm going to enjoy this game way more than BotW and already surpassing everything i felt with BotW.

Makes me sad every time i run out of arrows and brightblooms and have to leave for the surface. I really hope the story requires traversal down here at some point (please dont tell me, I wanna experience it for myself), because I can already imagine some disturbing monsters.
