    In this video I discuss why I went with the Rottweiler and not the Dogo Argentino. My analysis in no way is to be considered objective. I chose the best dog form

    Solid analysis. You made the best choice. I had a Doberman growing up, knew many Rottweilers, and now have a Dogo. I have been blown away by my Dogo's intelligence and affection, but also by his stubbornness. They can handle an urban environment as long as you train them and exercise them hard. Rottweilers are more owner-focused whereas Dogos, though extremely affectionate and protective, are always looking for adventure.

    Good choice. Love both breeds, I had a dogo that died last year of a snake bite. I live near the mountains and used my dog for hog hunting. Most loyal dog ever, if you ever find your self moving to a place with more spice, you should get a Dogo at some point. You will love the Dogo.

    I respect your deep thinking before you made your decision on which breed was best for you. I wish everyone would put more thought into getting a dog. I have had Dobermans and Pitbull type dogs all my life and a couple years ago I got myself a male Dogo puppy. He is now about 2 1/2 years old and is 29 inches and 130 pounds. I absolutely love this breed. He is very smart, protective yet gentle and easy to train. Physically he is a beast. He is incredibly strong while still being fast and agile. I have trained dozens of Rottweilers and many are great dogs. Locally we had problems with them biting the owners when they were not up to the task of controlling such a strong-willed powerful dog. I also agree with you about the size of a good Rottie. I think 120 pounds is perfect for a working Rottie. They are much faster and more athletic at that size than the giant 150-pound examples. Thanks for the video and keep them coming.

    As someone that has owned multiple of both breeds (3 Dogo’s and 2 Rottweilers), I don’t see myself ever getting another Rottweiler. That being said, there are some big advantages of each depending on what your use of the dog is. The Dogo is a dog of many extremes and are NOT for everyone. For almost all traits they are at the extreme end of the spectrum. Dogo Argentino’s are more intelligent, more obedient, have a higher desire to please and much, much more affectionate. If the dog is going to be alone all day while you’re at work the Rott is a better choice. Dogo’s want to be with you 24/7 and it makes them sad to be alone. They’re the most co-dependent breed I’ve encountered and they NEED to be a part of a pack. Do NOT get a dogo as an only dog and plan to crate them while you’re at work. If you’re a first time dog owner, the Rottweiler is probably a better choice because while the dogo is more intelligent and more obedient with correct training/owner, they are significantly more dominant/strong willed. Dogo’s are easier to train more commands and harder tasks because they’re more intelligent and have a higher desire to please but they’re less forgiving for inexperienced trainers. The dogo is commonly used in many countries for police work and search/rescue. I would give the Dogo 10/10 with small children but the Dogo is not a dog you take to the dog park. Theyre dominant and won’t back down if challenged. Intact males won’t accept another large intact male trying to be the boss. Females same with other females. Rottweilers are better suited for dog parks and more tolerant of other dogs challenging them. Both Rott and Dogo’s are protective of their pack and their family and make a distinction between their family/pack and strangers. Rottweilers and Dogo’s both do extremely well with strange people if properly socialized. The dogo is overall a more healthy breed. They live longer and have less problems while alive. Dogo’s are much more agile and suited to high energy lifestyle because they have a lot more endurance. The Rott is a better choice if you want lower energy. If you’re looking for just a working dog/guard dog that you don’t spend a ton of time with get a Rott (is actually recommend an Anatolian or Pyrenees for this use). If you’re looking for a guard dog/hunting dog that is with you 24/7 and also your best friend get a dogo. There is not another dog that is as versatile all around as the dogo with regards to hunting, protection, obedience, etc. but there not suited to many people’s lifestyle and experience. Now on my third dogo, I don’t think I’ll ever own another breed.

    • @staynerbuilt601
      @staynerbuilt601 ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot to add that the dogo is actually a very sensitive dog. They want to please you and it’s extremely upsetting for them to fail or let you down. Use lots of positive reinforcement/ training tactics and be careful not to be too negative when they’re young. They need to be coddled a little more than a Rot because they’re so co-defendant psychologically.

A Rottweiler is a farm dog used for patrolling/guarding a good amount of land, herding livestock, etc etc. The Dogo has more drive and endurance but the needs are almost identical. The Rottweiler is by no means an actual city dog but none of that matters as long as you exercise your dog, take it on 3-4 miles walks/hikes every day, etc etc. If you're not walking your dog for close to an hour or if not more you're truly not walking your dog and you're doing your dog a disservice.

    Another thing...I think you should explore local breeders of quality dogs essentially pricing them out of tbe ranve of middle class families.
    The prices on dogs has skyrocketted in the past 15+ years.
    Example I could get an direct handpicked import Dogue De Bordeux puppy in 2000-2001 rom a top breeder and shower in the US for $1500 to my door.

    Another solid video ma dude If only people got dogs for what they are bred for ior somewhere along those lines. You gotta "feed" its instincts or they have a greater chance of doing that themselves and that will a lot of times lead them winding up in a shelter if not put down. I am in NYC and love the Dogo but I know they have that hunting thing you wisely mentioned so it would not be fair to the dog. Thank you very much for what you are doing hear

      Extremely likely for mountain lions and packs of coyotes, there's so many out there that many times they actually form these sort of coyote packs and one will come out and make your dog chase them into the brush and then get attacked my another 3-5 more coyotes. The mountain lions out there are also anywhere from 70-150 pounds.

    • @wuerzelburg
      @wuerzelburg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So if it is so likely as you describe it, even indirectly, the best strategy is to have 2 dogs with you. Preferably Dogos or livestock guardian dogs.......and....... a pepper spray.

    • @Poteluz
      @Poteluz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wuerzelburg any strong powerful dog breed would be good, and if there's more than one even better. But what you're usually dealing with out there is Mountain Lions and coyotes, and sometimes bears. If you hike with your dog off leash you have to make sure that your dog is imprinted on sticking around you at all times and has reliable recall, because that can get you in some trouble out there.

      I live in the mountains near Los Angeles and I agree with the points here. I walk with two 90-pound dogs, a Presa and a Pitbull mix, and still recently we got in an uncomfortable situation where a coyote was stalking us. Most likely it had back-up that was out of sight. Our neighbor has a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd, but they sometimes wander too far from him and leave him unprotected. Mine generally stay quite close, especially the presa.

    There's good reason for why the owner of this channel, despite exposure to nearly every breed with skill-sets that merit ones attention when considering a protection, companion,and overall working capable breed, chose the Rottweiler.
    For one, the Rottweiler was bred and is perpetuated by the most anal retentive dog people on earth, the Germans. That said, the Rottweiler is all around a phenomenal working dog, thanks to the ADRK. They're intelligent, physically capable, hard as nails, excel at working with humans, can compete at the highest level of protection, obedience, and tracking, as well as being downright fearless, yet turn into teddy bears in a split second. The Germans did an amazing job at producing an overall well rounded dog in all areas needed for a working and protection dog.. Very seldom do you find other breeds that are brought to where the Rottweiler is, perhaps mostly due to lousy breeders, organizations affiliated with the breed that do not have the infrastructure and discipline to elevate the breed to its highest capabilities.
    No fault of other breeds, but probably the owner of the channel recognized the risk with obtaining other breeds given the above and chose to get a breed that he could reasonably expect to meet his needs without compromise.

    I had a rottweiler, male, 118lbs at maturity. I now have a Dogo, male, 112lbs. As for comparisons, rottweiler listens better, Dogo's are stubborn. Dogo's are very easy to socialize over the rottweiler. I can put my Dogo in a yard of cats and he'll try to find ones that will play, never could do that with my rottweiler. My Dogo is much stronger physically than my rottweiler was. Both are great defenders, don't start fights, but one thing about the Dogo, if it gets attacked, the only way it is to them is to kill whatever attacked them. The intensity is 2nd to none, people need to understand that when getting a Dogo. As for which is a better dog, it's how you explained it, depends on what you do and what is fair to the dog. Dogo's need more exercise. Lots more to this, just some of my experiences.

    Yo Zeke I would like to see another breed of dog just like dogo Argentina breed. And this breed of dog is another family , protector , hunter and rescue dog ,also. And this breed of dog is , a ( BLACK MOUTH CUR DOG ). I'm not sure where this breed originated from. But when I was with my grandfather who was a all around sportsman. who hunts and fish 🐟, and I would go out with him a pack of train hounds. The breed of dogs he had in his pack were two or three ( BLACK MOUTH CUR DOG ). These dogs would pursue the game that they were train to go after. And the animal that we will hunt is the black mask bandit. That's what we call them or that's what's there Nick name we call them or from others. But the animal we hunt during seaon is the , ( RACCOON ). And from my grandfather was born and raised in south Carolina. He love to hunt. And I did to. Plus I love dogs and watch them on television , my grandfather introduce me to the sport of hunting and fishing. For a little boy back then who have dreams of , going hunting and fishing. It turn to be a reality of dream come true. And go hunting with my grandfather and his hunting buddies , and their pack hounds were exciting. Especially going hunting at night for raccoons , because the raccoons are nocturnal animals. And they come out at night. When I see these breed of cur dogs are turn loose and they know what to do. There are ( AMAZING ), breed of dogs. They open on track after a raccoon or any other game that they train to pursue. Or semi- silent , or silent. To they catch the game on the ground or up a tree . And bark treed , letting us know they have game what we are hunting for. But also these dogs , ( CUR ) dogs are excellent hunters , family, guardian , protector , herding dogs. And all around versatile dog, another true ( DOG SOLDIER ) of the future , has made its mark in the dog world. But hasn't been truly been recognize like other breeds. Maybe I'm wrong , but this breed ( CUR ) dog is truly a dedication to the dog world. GO CURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
