    I think the dogo might just be my dream dog. They seem like the perfect mix of loving companion, athlete, drive and intelligence. The first time I saw one in person I fell in love. My only hesitation is potential dog to dog aggression. My last dog was a true apbt. Despite their tendency towards animal aggression he was exceptionally well mannered. He was perfect with kids, cats, and dogs of any personality. He even made friends with goats and chickens at a petting zoo. His temperament was literally perfect. I just don't know if that was because his natural personality happened to be that way or because of how he was raised. While I worked on his obedience regularly, I more heavily focused on socialization and desensitization from a young age. I would play with his ears, tail, jowls, and nails while cuddling. I brought him everywhere so he could get use to various smells, sounds, and sights. There wasn't a thing that could trigger a negative response.
    Now I'm hoping to get a dogo next year and plan to take the same approach. I'm wondering if you think there is a chance of having a similar result or if I should set my sights down to more like tolerating people/dogs in public. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

      Oh you should and can work on dog to dog aggression through socialization and obedience training. However you should know that as a guardian breed a Dogo Argentino like all guardians is genetically predisposed towards suspicion of strange dogs particularly same gender dogs of similar size.

    My grandma was cuban and I remember her telling me stories of an all white bad azz "dogo" that her family farm owned. She was born in 1921. As I started learning of that breed existence it has always been puzzling to me, considering that the records of that breed creation weren't too far in time previous to her childhood.

      The extinct Fighting Dog of Cordoba was the prototype and if you Google it, check out the historic photos. Very likely that’s the dogs she knew!

      @@DogoArgentinoUSA Probably so. I always found " coincidental" in my life as the dog person that I' am and thinking back that that story was passed on to me by my granma. And she was a typical country woman from those days, humble, not a super education as to know the intricacies of professional dog handling or nothing. The kind of person that you would expect to use the term " bulldog" instead but, no, dogo was always how she called It. It was one of those things that for some reason I never forgot from my childhood. Like I told yoh previously, we " specialize" in English bull terriers but those old gramma stories of the white dogo for some reason stuck to me, never forgotten. Must have been a heck of a dog. And like I told you before, we are really proud of the great work you are doing to help your chosen dog breed, we are sure that you are already a true inspiration to dogo owners and an extremely rich source of knowledge to them. I know new owners always start kinda blinded in many aspects ( we all did) and we hope that every single one of them can find and pay close attention to your videos. Cheers!

    I want that pup with the pirate patch soooo much! K-9 perfection. The best breed in the world! And your pack is a wonderful example of that.
    Hope your all doing well with everything. I'm " at home" here in Ohio! I'm gonna watch again so I can see " pirate". He would be very happy here on the farm! Just saying! Thanks again!!

    Having trouble finding out their lifespan...as a large breed do they have a short life? I currently have a dogue du Bordeaux, although known to live 7-8 yrs. mine is now almost 11. Like your dogs she's been raised on a raw diet which I attribute her health and longevity to. Am interested in a dogo but would really like to know they will not have the lifespan of 6-7 years as a few other large breeds. Btw. I enjoy your videos and approach very much.

    I have never owned a dog before, but I am looking to get one. This dog is my dream dog, and even though I am a first time owner, I plan to walk it everyday for 2 hours, train it, and just be there for it all the time. Do you think I can do this even though I have never owned a dog before? I am a big guy 6’1 and i feel like I could teach him who is boss

    How 80 to 100 pounds i..so confused, I just rescurd a 6 month dogo girl and she's 60 pounds? Is this normal ?also I got her from farmers in not the best condition, i had to take her and nurse her to health, such a good dog so gentle with the cat, sadly they taught her no commands she lived out in the winter since young enough

    The hair can even get into your nose!!!! They don't have an undercoat. So the get cold very easily in the winter. Keep them warm.

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the undercoat can exist and is triggered by harsh cold; my Russian girl had one when she arrived but lost all of it but a quarter sized patch on her head and a post-it sized patch on her shoulder.

    I have never heard of Argentine dogs being banned in Ukraine. I am from Ukraine. In Ukraine there are professional dogo argentino kennels with documents, which are recognized by the FCI. But Ukraine does have a list of potentially dangerous dog breeds. Thanks for your videos. It is very interesting.
    I want to ask you something. I have researched this question, but it is interesting to know your opinion. Can dogo argentino live (mostly overnight) in doghouse? I mean a doghouse with all the necessary conditions. Or is it bad for the dogs' mental health?
    And how do Argentine dogs get along with smaller dog breeds (like Yorkshire Terriers)? Can they live together?

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They tolerate small dogs if raised together and of opposite sex assuming that the smaller dog is submissive in attitude. They don’t do well in extreme extended cold or extreme humid jungle weather.

    I have no problems with any dog breed. They all love me because I love and protect them and feed them great. I have the same obligation to my dog as my dog has to me. Once the trust is gone by be towards the dog or the dog towards me then the relationship is over, I never go too many places without lethal and non lethat weapons so my dog just needs to bark. A chihuahua can protect me by barking but I do not like tiny dogs.

      I’m not a small dog person. To each his or her own 😌
