Thanks for a lot of good detail on what to look for. I'm going to note these things to check, just the ones not already listed on other TH-camrs' lists. Cheers.
I ordered the same blue M3 but LR with black interior and wont take delivery until possibly end of December and I am glad I saw your video. Will use your tips to do quality checks. I am nervous about delivery day approaching as I really dont know what else I should be looking for. I wish as customers we shouldn’t have to do this. Its a shame. I mean we are paying over $50k for a car that looked cheaply build and had to wait months and months for it just to see many imperfections.
I seriously was going to purchase until Tesla let me take a model 3 overnight. The ride is horrible, seats were uncomfortable, interior is cheap looking. We went to VW and test drove the ID 4 Pro RWD.. Amazing car! Plenty of power and extremely comfortable to long trips.
What a coincidence. I currently own a BMW also in Sunset Orange and I ordered a blue Model 3 Long Range with white interior and your video popped up in my suggestions. Thanks for the pre-delivery tips! I’m expecting mine this August! 😊
Great video, very detailed. I placed my order this month and have a Delivery date of Feb-March, I bet the Tesla rep is gonna hate me after watching this video..
I watched your video prior to taking delivery yesterday but honestly, I see no excessive or observable panel gaps. The screen was glitchy during the first drive but did a reboot and everything is working great!!!
In 1-2 weeks I will pick up my early November built SR+ (China built). Thank you very much for the video, you have a very good eye for Details this will help me a lot to know where to look at more precisely.
Ordered one of these. Hopefully comes in soon. However, this is the first car I’ve ever had that I have to do a quality check. Tesla needs to improve that.
Some service centers may give you the line "its within Tesla specification" but don't buy it if you see people in the forums reporting that they have gotten theirs fixed.
Nice content. We ordered our Model YDM in July, received call yesterday that it will be in before Thanksgiving (maybe) I will use all of your suggestions. Thanks again.. Jeff
Great video. Watching because I have mine on order and this is very helpful. Thank you. At this price point, it's disappointing that there can be this many quality control issues.
Great video. Quite a shame their QA is still suffering like this. They are more focused on quantity vs. quality, it seems. I guess that’s what you have to do when you’re a publicly-listed company with insatiable demand. I’ll wait to buy until they improve their build quality.
I agree with you. But it’s just like waiting for the new iPhone 13 only to find out it’s the same as the iPhone 12 but they had a better virtual presentation to make you think it’s a new phone. However secretly it’s an iPhone 5 wearing its date night dress. Hehe.
@@MegaGyalis the problem is no one is forced to accept it, but folks are too antsy to show off their new toy that they they DO accept it. I get they’re a new company, but fix your current QA issues, FFS. Elon’s says future QC will be measured in microns…but we’ll see. He seems bored by such things, honestly.
hi I ordered model y performance but if its leased should I even worry about it I see so many videos people always do quality check so its a lease I don't care about it its going back to Tesla. thank you
I think even with a lease you should try to get things that are bad sorted out. You will feel a lot better knowing that you are driving a car with fewer defects.
this is the same exterior that i ordered but with a black interior.. any suggestions on what i need to check for black interiors as far as the seats.. thank you
I recommend checking for excessive wear from the car sitting out in the hot California sun before being shipped out to you. You will find that the black seats are more firm than the white seats.
You are right, all cars have some issues. I think tesla owners are finding more of these because of how they have not been treated well by service centers telling them things are "within spec"
I’ve noticed from a lot of videos now that Tesla likes to tell ppl that body panels kicking up & doors not closing all the way is a new design or some crap smh. Ordered the exact same…
I think $61K USD is the highest you can spend on the model 3 before adding FSD. The model S, on the other hand, is built way better because of the high price point I believe.
I don't get why Tesla owners are ok with poor build quality??? I value my $45000+ and to have Tesla or any car have this many issues is drinking to the cool aid. I ordered a ID4 because I know it will not have any issues...I have seen way to many Tesla for sale on Carvana and Carmax...TIme will only tell if Tesla will be relevant in the future of EV. Get it right already ELON!
You are absolutely right. They cut corners in places. My 2016 bmw 328i has way better build quality. I think the main reason I stayed with tesla was because of the technology, acceleration, and frequent software updates. Before buying second model 3 I had put a down payment on an ID4. Changed my mind because the screen was very slow and they had been promising updates for the last 3 months. The ID4 is a fantastic car and I am sure you will enjoy it, especially the ambient lighting. hehe
@@PatrickBonsi because they are a highly experienced professional car manufacturer worth your 50,000.00 . Tesla build quality is shit and they have the balls to deliver imperfect products. No quality control. They will never get my hard earned money
The problem with Tesla is...... they are a technology company. They should just concentrate on perfecting battery technology. They have little ..if no car manufacturing experience. This is where Ford and GM and Toyota and hyundai will crush Tesla as far as build quality is concerned. 50,000.00 dollars and you need to do visual inspections in fear of build defects. BULLSHIT!!
Tesla needs to hire you as their new QA guy! Great detailed video
I already have a part time job keeping them on their toes. Hehe
I just placed my order but I can't lie its so annoying to have to perform a quality check on a 50k car
yep! I know what you mean. its sort of a love-hate relationship with Tesla. You will like the way it drives though.
what color combo did you get?
Awaiting my M3. delivery estimate- 11/16-12/18. We shall see :)
@@mshell1959 You will probably get it sooner.
Cancel it man!!. ID4 is cheaper and better ride and quality
I've watched at least 50 Tesla videos on TH-cam and the amount of detail you go into here is greater than all of them.
Thank you for your kind comment. I really like cars and I like to share things that most people who are Tesla fan boys don't share.
Thanks for a lot of good detail on what to look for. I'm going to note these things to check, just the ones not already listed on other TH-camrs' lists. Cheers.
Youre welcome, enjoy the car.
Just placed my order and was wondering what all I should check other than panel gaps. By far the most thorough inspection ive seen. Thanks!
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips! I’ll be taking delivery on 11/3
Congrats. Inspect everything.. hehe

Don't forget to check if your usb c ports are there. I have heard some cars are coming without it and are needing to be installed later.
This is a great video. I am definitely reconsidering getting one now. These are too many issues did a car that is $50k +

That is good to hear. Their build quality is definitely getting better.
Very useful video. Watched it now and will watch it again the day before I pick up my new Tesla. Thanks.
Oga Bonsi, Thaks for the detailed review. iCurrently waiting on my very own model 3. white on white. This will come in handy

Man, what a job you did on this video. Glad you saw all of this cause I wouldn’t.
Thank you. I have helped about 5 friends take delivery of Model 3s and I have gotten really good at spotting all the manufacturing issues.

I didn't know that I needed to see this video, but I'm glad I did. Thanks man!

its really amazing how they are really able to deliver sooner that they estimate.
You’re technically supposed to use 2 hands to softly close the hood. It’s aluminum and can be damaged easily.
Thanks for the tip. I will do that moving forward.
that sounds like a cheap hood for 50 thousand dollars
@@tw.o.g its aluminium....used due to its light weight to help decrease the overall weight of the vehicle to maximise range.

They definitely need to still do some quality control but the car drives like a dream.
Great info snd details sir. Keep up the great job.
Thank you, I will hopefully have more videos.

When you drop the car off at Tesla Service, do they give you a Tesla loaner?
They used to but due to lack of inventory they now give you uber credits.
I feel like only Tesla owners are finding all these issues. I’m sure all cars have this but for some reason people only think it’s Tesla’s.

Which colour of Tesla is amazing???
Its called Deep Blue Metallic and I like it with the white interior color.
A super-helpful video -- thank you!
Do they repair anything on delivery day even if I bought a used Tesla (4k miles)
I believe they will because they are all covered by a 50K mile warranty.
Thanks really appreciate your detailed review and explanation!
youre welcome
Good video. I agree with the other comments about the high cost of the vehicle the customer should not have to be the final quality control
Has it got an A or J in the vin? What the range at 100%?
It has an A. we have not charged it to 100% yet.
Seems as though the customers are the quality control people of Tesla! That’s ashame for a car that cost so much!
The customers are also test engineers for full self-driving.. haha
This is the pure arrogance and inexperience of Tesla.
