Thanks for the post-delivery list, Ryan. Just 3 days ago I took delivery and after standing there admiring the car I did most of those tips but now that it's Monday I need to submit for HOV lane stickers and Clean Air rebate. These are awesome tips I plan to implement when I take delivery of my EV. I will add that if you park outside at home then turn on sentry mode. It won' drawn down power since you're plugged in and charging during those off peak hours. Additionally, if you're going to be parking outside then maybe invest in a smart EVSE (charger). I went wit the Charge Point EVSE after watching Tom Mologoughney's rigorous test. I live in Virginia and from time to time we get some really cold months and that EVSE was the one that held up the best in extreme cold weather testing. The power cable remained very pliable instead of stiff.
I have seen many recommendations to have a NEMA 14-50 installed. There is a problem with that idea. Several years back the NEC was changed to require GFCIs for garage outlets and despite what some say, it does include 220v. Some locales don't enforce it but is a national standard. The mobile connector performs a line test which may trigger the 14-50 circuit's GFCI and cut power. Spend the money and get the wall connector which is hardwired and doesn't require a GFCI circuit. Tesla also recommends this too, which is probably why they stopped including 14-50 cables with the mobile connector.
I've never had my breaker trip, if the 14,50 outlet is good to 40 amps or more, the max 32amp pull, from the mobile charger, is below 80%. Why would anyone pull the max amp from a circuit to begin?
So glad we are buying a model Y! Our payment is less than one of our Audis we have! I work remotely so us having only one car now will be so financially freeing! God bless the 4.05% too!!

Driving 80mph in LA is not a guarantee. At least not in my experience (I’m from NorCal, but am in SoCal regularly). One can drive 80mph, provided traffic allows it. Traffic jams, accidents, roadwork, and other situations will definitely impact just how “fast” you can drive. YMMV. Great video as always, Ryan!
Nice video. Just took delivery of my Model Y in Switzerland and I got to learn that when I went to prepare the papers at the government agency it’s mandatory to have confirmation of insurance before they issue the official papers of your vehicle, that’s cool so everyone is always insured 😉
regarding the hov sticker, if youre applying towards the last few months of the year, it might be worth it to apply on Jan 1 of the next year so you dont get a sticker that covers the current year. so if you apply on Oct 1, 2022, you will get a sticker that starts in 2022. You wont get that sticker until 2-3 months after application. So if you get it in dec, you practically lost most of the year of HOV usage.

Hi Ryan, I love your posts and have been watching them regularly; during the "agony" phase when they helped me learn about Tesla and helped convince me to buy one, and then "anxiety impatience" phase for the last nine months since I ordered a MYLR, which arrived yesterday. Model year 2023, apparently, based on the paperwork. There are some minor panel gap issues, which hopefully Tesla will fix, but what I really need advice about is the smell; not the gym socks odor some are complaining about, but the super strong drying paint smell. It’s making me sick. I am airing the car out (last night and today), but it sure doesn’t seem to be fading quickly. According to the paperwork, this car was made in Freemont in November. I would welcome any advice you could provide. Thanks and Happy Holidays
This is really helpful for first time tesla users,or just bought one I watched ryans video even tho i dont have tesla, and tesla is not available still in the phillipines

Related to the Time of Use point, definitely a good idea to confirm with your utility provider. I actually found out that this is a new and optional plan in my area. Unfortunately, the increased cost of on peak outweighed the savings from off peak. But at least on the bright side, the standard rate is pretty low, so it wasn’t too much of a bummer :)
@@MUFCXI well, in the area I live, there is a utility plan which would allow charging to be cheaper for me at night (during off peak hours). However, in my case, my utility providers “default” rate plan that is in effective all hours of the day was more appealing price wise. Off peak rate was a few cents or so cheaper than the default rate, however on peak rate was closer to 10 cents higher than the default rate in my area. It could be a more viable option in your area, though. It may still be worth checking :)
I made the plunge in February, my order has gone from August to October and I would guess its in for more delays. Astounding how two new super factories are online but deliveries are taking nearly a year.
I still can’t figure out how to tell it to stop charging at 4PM and start charging at 9PM. Do you know? The app only shows the start charging setting and then something called the departure time but it doesn’t do what I want.

Hi Ryan, thanks for this video as well as all of the others I’ve watched. My Model y is due in September, and I know I’ll be getting some of these accessories. I checked out the delivery checklist, which says it’s for the model 3. Does it work for the Model Y also, or do you have another list for the Model Y?
Due to extenuating circumstances, I had my Tesla delayed til July 31st, which is shown on my Tesla account. What happens when I click on, “I’m ready now”? Am I added to the back of the queue as if I ordered a new car or am I prioritized in the queue?
I just took delivery on my Model 3 LR on Monday (Jan 30). Process was pretty good, but I do have some complaints surrounding the charging cable. I had ordered the mobile charger with the car back on Jan 14 and tracking info says it will be delivered Friday (4 days AFTER delivery). It's one thing to not include the charger but to me it's beyond the pale to not have the charger prior to or at delivery. Is it so hard to have them in stock at the delivery centers?? To make matters worse, the car was delivered with 53% charge. Luckily I'm not going anywhere but jeez.. Other than that, great car so far.
Ryan, regarding climate change, yesterday 'Electrifying Your Wheels' happened in Melbourne. A great place to be to see people are boarding this Train into the Future for a better World
The estimated delivery for my Model Y is THIS month (with FSD) so this is great timing. Thanks Ryan for suggesting months ago when to place an order so I hopefully get an Austin made MY, I'll delay if not.
If Tesla assigns you Fremont made you can delay, but I think your car will just wait in a lot until you accept delivery. Then the only way would be canceling your order and placing new one. That what tesla told me. I just received my TMYP Fremont made. It came really good, no issues so far.
Step 1: check for defects, and get them fixed by Tesla service center. OK, so that's when things get complicated, right? Put it on a train and ship 1,000 miles to nearest service center?
Tesla has ben in buisness for nearly 2 decades dey hav to get Quality Control fixed ASAP! Unacceptable to pay top dollar for a new car and hav it delivered to you with issues. 1 issue is 1 too many!
Ryan, great videos, thanks for all the info. For the phone key to work, the Tesla app must be installed and logged in to correct? Do you and the wife have to have seperate Tesla accounts in order for car to know the difference between your phones, or are both phones logged into the same account and somehow the car knows the difference? Thanks
is there anyway to update the Tesla app to where if a single household has multiple vehicles that those specific cars can be accessed from multiple accounts within that same household registered under two different email addresses one Tesla app
I have heard that some insurance wont give you the value of FSD if the car is totaled. I assume that Tesla insurance would but do they state that explicitly anywhere?
Someone asked me about that last week and I didn't know. I spoke to my insurance agent and he told me that the price to replace FSD is included if the car is unrepairable. And it is a replacement value which means that even though I paid $6k or $7k for it, now they would reimburse me $12k for it. I hope I never have to use it but it's good to know.

Nice video. Just took delivery of my Model Y in Switzerland and I got to learn that when I went to prepare the papers at the government agency it’s mandatory to have confirmation of insurance before they issue the official papers of your vehicle, that’s cool so everyone is always insured 😉
My model 3 LR arrives in a couple of weeks! I’m soo excited!!!
Nice video! Thanks for all the great info.
great video and thank you for the share with the check list!
Still waiting for our Model Y and when it arrives - we’ll be ready. Thanks Ryan!
that checklist is priceless! thanks Ryan!!!
Where is the checklist?
regarding the hov sticker, if youre applying towards the last few months of the year, it might be worth it to apply on Jan 1 of the next year so you dont get a sticker that covers the current year. so if you apply on Oct 1, 2022, you will get a sticker that starts in 2022. You wont get that sticker until 2-3 months after application. So if you get it in dec, you practically lost most of the year of HOV usage.
Good video. Your channel is the only EV channel I watch anymore.
Ryan!! Right on time! Just took delivery 48 hrs ago on "the poor man's plaid" (S)!! Who hoo!! Thanks so much for all your videos, and congrats on all your success.
Lol
Do you love it?? My “poor man’s plaid” 😂😂😂 is suppose to come this month.
Do you have the link for the delivery day checklist? My apologies, but I do not see it.

I cant post it here since my comments with the link keep getting deleted
I got my model 3 march 17. and I use the 3D maxpider over the standard Mats
Hi Ryan,
I love your posts and have been watching them regularly; during the "agony" phase when they helped me learn about Tesla and helped convince me to buy one, and then "anxiety impatience" phase for the last nine months since I ordered a MYLR, which arrived yesterday.
This is really helpful for first time tesla users,or just bought one
I watched ryans video even tho i dont have tesla, and tesla is not available still in the phillipines
Tesla the great. No any factory can beat you in this world. No matter what enemies do, they will not beat you. You gone ahead of them.
My delivery date changed from august-October to October 2022 - January 2023.
Model Y black
Yeah me too, ordered black y with tow hitch, no other options, in Sept ‘21, originally had March delivery, then June, then aug-Sept, then Sept-Oct, now back to aug-Sept 21
Same here, ordered Model Y LR standard accessories on Sep 2021 schedule delivery for Mar 2022 and then bumped to June 2022, and now Sept 2022. Geez
Just ordered the 3Dmax floor mats
If you wanted a FOB, do you set it up the same way as the card?
How do I get an invite to the Tesla Giga factory party this Thursday?
what if i pick it up for a inventory. Does it still come with the little issues and damages or is it only new made tesla's
By the way, I am still watching your videos in am attempt to sell myself the idea of buying a Model 3.
Do your math first $$$$ this can get pricey. Beside the down payment (if giving any) keep in mind that depends on your setup and extra things you will like to get for the M3...add at least a extra 2k.
@@kaimanson3174 What do you drive now?
@@glenhardy4770 2008 Odyssey EX-L, been driving that bad boy for the last 9 years, amazing car. But kids are growing and the extra space is not needed as often as before. Two of my closest friends one has a 22 MYP and the other a 22 M3LR. MYP 0 down payments are near 1k. The other gave 75 hundred down, payments are around 7 hundred and change. They both got it before % went up.
@@kaimanson3174 So you do not drive a Tesla anything, but are warning me about them being pricey. I appreciate your concern. Very much! I know they are a bit high. I am currently driving a Toyota C-HR and have never enjoyed driving it. Many people told me a 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 was garbage but I bought one and love everything about it! I am still hesitant about going from
@@glenhardy4770 yeah, I have done a test drive twice on a RWD, have driven my friend's M3LR. And let me tell you ..you will fall in love pretty quick. Both of my friends got it around March 2022. I was like, hey let me roll the # and payments ended up quite high, with a 0-10% down. (That was my initial warning for you) I may not have one yet, but give it a try, schedule a test drive. It is an amazing car (quite, insanely fast, and really advance) Make sure you have a way to charge it at home and you are all set. If you live in a apartment or rental...that can't make it a little bit challenging.
I don’t see a link to the video on things to do *before* taking delivery …
Just bought a Model Y LR!!
question. i live in a condo so having wifi signal is out of the question. Do i need wifi to do certain things? ie update software? i guess i can do it at my parents place when i visit them..... any info is appreciated. (i will get the cellular plan for sure tho)
what is the best way to contact them about minor issues unnoticed upon delivery?
I'm setting up a 60 amp breaker in my garage for the Tesla charger, so that would mean 48amp charging correct?
Can the checklist be used for a MY??? TIA
Wow the roads in LA must be wild with everyone going that far over the speed limits!
Is it true that used Teslas from Tesla dealer come as is? E.g. leather is worn
Do I need a protective exterior coating applied - if I get a stainless steel Cybertruck?
No one responded to Steve F's question from 9 days ago: "If you and your wife both get in the car does it automatically set to the main profile or whoever is in the driving seat? So if I drive to a location but my wife drives home, does it alter automatically depending who is in the driver position or does it need changing manually?"
Ryan, small issues aside, do you LOVE the PLAID?
Big thanks for the check list........mine will be here in few months but I'm familiarizing myself with key checks...etc. I see you added check mobil charger? Are they still adding those? I ordered my M3 in Mid April.....will I still get one! great info & thanks for all the effort in putting your channel together.....
Can you explain the off peak on peak sentence you wrote? It’s cheaper for you to charge during the day then night which is off peak??
@@MUFCXI well, in the area I live, there is a utility plan which would allow charging to be cheaper for me at night (during off peak hours). However, in my case, my utility providers “default” rate plan that is in effective all hours of the day was more appealing price wise. Off peak rate was a few cents or so cheaper than the default rate, however on peak rate was closer to 10 cents higher than the default rate in my area. It could be a more viable option in your area, though. It may still be worth checking :)
Do you have a link to the protective film that you put on your vehicle?
I made the plunge in February, my order has gone from August to October and I would guess its in for more delays. Astounding how two new super factories are online but deliveries are taking nearly a year.
It will probably change again. I ordered in October and my delivery date went from June to March-April back to June and now April-May.
Do you need to purchase any other adapter to charge a Tesla for that split volt charger?
Thanks, Ryan. This video was just what I needed. My EDD for my LR Y is in May and I need to know these ins and outs.
Got a vin yet?
@@nikkilucila5061 not yet. Checking five times a day 😀
The Elon link for the screen protector is for a 2020-2021, is there a newer one for the 2022?
While waiting for your car to be fix will Tesla give you a loaner?
Do you have any idea how I can use waz as my default map on my model 3 Tesla?
What’s your recommendations if someone doesn’t own a home, would I be still able to own one ? 🤗
are you locked in Tesla navigation or can you use apple of google maps?
does the car come with those stickers?
I still can’t figure out how to tell it to stop charging at 4PM and start charging at 9PM. Do you know? The app only shows the start charging setting and then something called the departure time but it doesn’t do what I want.
Hey guys quick question, I ordered the paint repair kit but accidentally ordered the wrong color and I can't get in touch with the support team can someone please drop the link please 🙏🏾 😅
Ryan, I'm assuming if I'm getting a CyberTruck (some day 😏) dat I won't b needing dat protective film on exterior body correct?
Hi Ryan, thanks for this video as well as all of the others I’ve watched. My Model y is due in September, and I know I’ll be getting some of these accessories. I checked out the delivery checklist, which says it’s for the model 3. Does it work for the Model Y also, or do you have another list for the Model Y?
Due to extenuating circumstances, I had my Tesla delayed til July 31st, which is shown on my Tesla account. What happens when I click on, “I’m ready now”? Am I added to the back of the queue as if I ordered a new car or am I prioritized in the queue?
for someone living in a rented apartment, is home charging possible/practical?
thinking in buying electric car
A great place to be to see people are boarding this Train into the Future for a better World
Thanks Ryan, Also in the LA area. Getting my model 3 this month. Do you have any recommendations PPF install in the LA area?
The estimated delivery for my Model Y is THIS month (with FSD) so this is great timing.
Thanks Ryan for suggesting months ago when to place an order so I hopefully get an Austin made MY, I'll delay if not.
If Tesla assigns you Fremont made you can delay, but I think your car will just wait in a lot until you accept delivery. Then the only way would be canceling your order and placing new one. That what tesla told me. I just received my TMYP Fremont made. It came really good, no issues so far.
Love your content!
Just curious, Why did you not get a wall charger?
The insurance company has to make you "whole"
They will try to pay the minimum they can so you will need to keep escalating until resolved
@@acolon8999 what insurance did you get
@@nikkilucila5061 I got Plymouth Rock Assurance.
When you first buy a Tesla Model S, and start shaking your head at regret, when a BMW I4 M50 passes you by !
With so many new electric cars catching up to tesla and coming out in the market from major manufacturers, Tesla’s days as a vehicle manufacturer are numbered. Bet they will be in merger talks with some major car manufacturer in the coming years.
Thanks Ryan, very much appreciated.
Thanks for your video
Hey Ryan I have a question about the 80% charging rule. Does this apply if you're installing the wall mount charger or only for the less expensive, plug in the wall charger? We're opting for the wall charger, which will be connected directly to our electric box in the basement. Thanks! Also, really enjoying your channel. We take delivery of our 2023 Model 3 in 2 days and your videos have been an invaluable source of knowledge for us so thanks!!!
Random question but are you able to write off some of the cost seeing as you use them for these marketing videos?
Ryan, you indicated a delivery checklist below but I can't find it??? If I missed it, how is it titled?

Hello Ryan and others, I just purchased a Model Y Performance and the estimated delivery date is June/July. However, I want to be sure to get the new 4680 battery in the Performance. Have they announced this as an option? Do you have any advice on what I can do to make this happen? Any holdout tips or whatnot?

Do you know if Tesla will pay off someone trade in ? Is there a way I will know how much they will give me for my car without have to pay the deposit because it’s non refundable.
For what it's worth, Tesla gave me a ridiculously low exchange amount for my Volt. Nearly 7k less than what another dealer offered.
I'm just going to sell it myself after I get the new car.
