I own and live on a tree farm. Klima doesn't give me any credit for that.
lol
I've had my M3 LR for exactly 6 months. I've done 20,000 kms (12,500 miles), with no issues whatsoever. Don't worry about build quality; it's fine.
I just ordered my first tesla, a model y performance. I’m super worried about meaningless things, I’m 17, too, and I’m worried people I know will literally get jealous and key it. That’s just how the people I know are.
@@crypticexploitz4086 you can wrap the car with ppf and nothing will get you worried
@@omermizrahi2737 PPF isn’t going to stop a key.
Can confirm. Bought a 2023 Model Y today. Used his checklist which was super helpful. Only thing I noticed was the armrest rubs the seat when opened. Tesla will fix with ease.
Ryan, for vision only Tesla’s, set “froward Collision Warning” to EARLY and set the following distance to 7. This will drastically reduce PHANTOM BREAKING.
That's a helpful tip ty and will try. I still think tesla owes us improvements, we should not have phantom braking and should be able to use settings as we want, not have to use a secret combination of settings to improve the issue.
@@borshardsd i don’t disagree at all. My phantom breaking on my 22 MY was so bad Tesla sent 2 service techs on 2 different occasions. Theres a road by my house my car phantom breaks at least 3 times in 2 miles every time. Both techs experienced the phantom breaking but ultimately told me everything was working properly and “trust the system will improve over time”????? WTH kind of answer is that and I was so pissed off. I actually HATED my brand new Y and was considering selling it. However I started playing around with the settings on my own and with a “lucky guess” found this to work. I made a video to share my experience but i SUCK at making videos so i never posted it. Ive successfully driven over 500 miles with only 1 occurrence. I can actually use my cruise control and not feel “as” worried. Sadly i still don’t trust the car but the more i drive it the more im becoming comfortable with it.
@@JP-kb4yi sheet, sry to here brov! Definitely appreciate the trick. I feel the same way sometimes 😕. It's definitely a beta feel for a lot of the features, sadly seems like we have to wait.
I don't experience the phantom breaking in my roommates ms 2016 using radar. Bleh wish they kept the radar to aid the vision system.
@@JP-kb4yi oh my. I have complained to almost every Tesla Y- TH-camrs . The so called big names. Only 2 of them have said anything on Phantom Breaking. And they all say the same "working on It" (They are in it for $$ and Gifts & Sucking up to Tesla for Invites)) If you live on any 2 lane Highways and a truck comes in the opposite direction Prepare for sudden breaking. I have Video but like you, I suck at it. Once I was doing 65 mph it slammed on the breakes to 35 MPH .. Now I NEVER Use it on 2 lanes. So you say a fix can be froward Collision Warning?? Ill look into it Thank you much. Ryan thank you also because you are the most vocal on this.
@@lastlion65 Yes but its a (2 part) “fix” You need to set the distance you want the car to follow the car in front to 7 (right button on the steering wheel) and also set the forward collision warning to early. Both are important ESPECIALLY on 2 lane roads. I live in the Ozarks near the MO/AR boarder and there are allot sketchy roads that AP is running perfectly fine now that is would phantom break consistently in the same spots every time. PLEASE realize there are still some funky glitches that this wont resolve. 2 that I’ve noticed so far. Going from 2 to 3 lanes, if your are in the left lane when the 3 lane starts, take control because ADC/AP looses it crap and on any multi lane road, if your passing a semi truck with trailer on a curve it can cause the system to suddenly break. Yesterday we drove from Branson MO to near Saginaw MI or 810 miles with only 2 phantom break issues! Yes thats a win in my book compared to before it was every 3/4 miles
Thanks for the post-delivery list, Ryan. Just 3 days ago I took delivery and after standing there admiring the car I did most of those tips but now that it's Monday I need to submit for HOV lane stickers and Clean Air rebate. I also ordered some of those accessories including trays for the center console bins which I hadn't thought I'd need until I put things in them! Cheers and my new motto is: have fun driving but stay safe.
So after long consideration I placed my order for the M3 LR I went for a test drive today and the car was quiet, comfortable. It is very fast. I don't need a performance, I never go to the track, l don't drive more than 75 on Freeway, 50 on city streets and I don't want to worry about driving over potholes and ruining my rims and LR has better range. Glad I'm officially part of Tesla family. My first EV🎉🎉 Stealth Grey black interior. Phoenix Arizona
These are awesome tips I plan to implement when I take delivery of my EV. I will add that if you park outside at home then turn on sentry mode. It won' drawn down power since you're plugged in and charging during those off peak hours.
Additionally, if you're going to be parking outside then maybe invest in a smart EVSE (charger). I went wit the Charge Point EVSE after watching Tom Mologoughney's rigorous test. I live in Virginia and from time to time we get some really cold months and that EVSE was the one that held up the best in extreme cold weather testing. The power cable remained very pliable instead of stiff.
Number 5 is the most first-world problem thing ever... I love it.
It can be a point to be logged in to TH-cam because then you get TH-cam that is adapted to the channels you follow and the type of videos you usually watch
So glad we are buying a model Y! Our payment is less than one of our Audis we have! I work remotely so us having only one car now will be so financially freeing! God bless the 4.05% too!!
Good morning Ryan. Posting on a Sunday for the win!
I have seen many recommendations to have a NEMA 14-50 installed. There is a problem with that idea. Several years back the NEC was changed to require GFCIs for garage outlets and despite what some say, it does include 220v. Some locales don't enforce it but is a national standard. The mobile connector performs a line test which may trigger the 14-50 circuit's GFCI and cut power. Spend the money and get the wall connector which is hardwired and doesn't require a GFCI circuit. Tesla also recommends this too, which is probably why they stopped including 14-50 cables with the mobile connector.
You can buy a 50am GFCI breaker and then you code compliant and I’ve never had the breaker trip.
I've never had my breaker trip, if the 14,50 outlet is good to 40 amps or more, the max 32amp pull, from the mobile charger, is below 80%. Why would anyone pull the max amp from a circuit to begin?
I have two NEMA 14-50 (50amps) outlets and one Tesla Wall Connector (60amps) and my breakers have never tripped so far.
Ryan, I can't find the "link below" (0:09) to what to do BEFORE taking delivery. I see dozens of links to accessories but not to that video.
Yeah because he's just pushing his sponsors!
Yes @Ryan Shaw, I am also looking for your video you mentioned about before you take delivery. My delivery window now starts in about 6 weeks

I cant post it here since my comments with the link keep getting deleted
@@That-Guy_ still don’t see it. I see a delivery checklist but not a link for video on before taking delivery.
@@JP_813 It's not in the description. I see 50+ links there, but none to the video he mentioned at 0:09.
Hopefully, Once mine finally “arrives” in JULY I’ll make sure to follow these steps . Ordered my MX LR in May 2021 😡
How much did you get it for back then
@@mohammadqaddura2094 probably 104k to 105k base price
Thanks . Just bought. M3 LR since they are $7500 off and 10k miles of free supercharging right now.
My car was delivered in front of my house with no one in sight. I had to schedule an appointment and im still waiting to get into the shop. I missed 2 appointments before they were so far out. I took delivery in Feb 2022. I did make an appointment and submitted pictures so hopefully they know it was there when the car was delivered. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for this video Ryan. I recently placed an order for a Model Y LR and have a projected delivery date of September. I've already received a Tesla charger and have approval from my condo board to install it in my carport. I live in Seattle and hope I'll be able to secure a 4680 build out of Austin.
What are the big benefits of the 4680 build over current batteries?
I've ordered the model y performance and was wondering if I should probably wait for the 4680 build instead.
Jared I recently took delivery of my Model Y. I’d say order and take what comes. There is always going to be “something worth waiting for” on these cars. The 3% gains on the new batter seems great, but so does having the car 6 months earlier.
Was well excited when I got my model Y… that’s when it went downhill.. after the 5th day and only done less than 100 miles I started getting warnings light “front motor has been disabled”! Then the car failed to start all together!! Can’t believe I only had the car for 5 days.. doesn’t give me much confidence with Tesla!
Great summary video, Ryan! Thanks.
13:12 - Regarding setting charging times, am I assuming correctly that Supercharging is never subject to the charge schedule?
Our O’Toyta 😂 Prius Prime’s charging logic is that, if there is a charging event scheduled any time in the future, it will wait until that time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve plugged into a public charger only to find out that it didn’t charge (and I inadvertently hogged a charger), because I forgot to hit the “Charge Now” button!
Thanks for the checklist. I will bring that with me when I take delivery sometime in June or July. It has already been pushed back 5 days.
Keep up the good work Ryan. Love your videos. Saw your MY last week at Service Center. Was a little star struck.😝😊
Very helpful for the uninitiated future Tesla owners like me. Thanks!
Nice video. Just took delivery of my Model Y in Switzerland and I got to learn that when I went to prepare the papers at the government agency it’s mandatory to have confirmation of insurance before they issue the official papers of your vehicle, that’s cool so everyone is always insured 😉
Driving 80mph in LA is not a guarantee. At least not in my experience (I’m from NorCal, but am in SoCal regularly). One can drive 80mph, provided traffic allows it. Traffic jams, accidents, roadwork, and other situations will definitely impact just how “fast” you can drive. YMMV.
Great video as always, Ryan!
Fantastic breakdown of the steps to take after ordering/delivery of a Tesla.
Great video - I'm 2/3 of the way toward doing all these steps after taking delivery of my model Y four days ago. This video should be one of the Tesla Tutorial videos! I decided to use a Split Volt system as well, but my Dryer is in the house on the other side of a hallway from the garage. Had to do some creative routing of a 240V extension cord through a ceiling crawl space...
Extension cord through a crawl space is 100% against code. Your house burns down your insurance is not going to pay.
All ur vids are good stuff Ryan. I take delivery Wednesday of a 2023 MYP and had no idea my electric company offered a rebate! My first EV. Keep up the good work!
Ryan, thanks for all of the Tesla content--picking up my M3 Performance next week. Couldn't pass up after all of the price cuts + 3 months supercharging. You mentioned in the beginning of this vid that you would link to your other vid about things to do BEFORE delivery, but either you forgot to include the link or I missed it after trying a couple different times to find it (not at all impossible). Keep up the good work, it's been very helpful :)
Ryan!! Right on time! Just took delivery 48 hrs ago on "the poor man's plaid" (S)!! Who hoo!! Thanks so much for all your videos, and congrats on all your success.
Lol
Do you love it?? My “poor man’s plaid” 😂😂😂 is suppose to come this month.
regarding the hov sticker, if youre applying towards the last few months of the year, it might be worth it to apply on Jan 1 of the next year so you dont get a sticker that covers the current year. so if you apply on Oct 1, 2022, you will get a sticker that starts in 2022. You wont get that sticker until 2-3 months after application. So if you get it in dec, you practically lost most of the year of HOV usage.
Still waiting for our Model Y and when it arrives - we’ll be ready. Thanks Ryan!
Tito's Tacos in your nav destination for the win!!!!
My model 3 LR arrives in a couple of weeks! I’m soo excited!!!
Hi Ryan,
I love your posts and have been watching them regularly; during the "agony" phase when they helped me learn about Tesla and helped convince me to buy one, and then "anxiety impatience" phase for the last nine months since I ordered a MYLR, which arrived yesterday. Model year 2023, apparently, based on the paperwork.
There are some minor panel gap issues, which hopefully Tesla will fix, but what I really need advice about is the smell; not the gym socks odor some are complaining about, but the super strong drying paint smell. It’s making me sick.
I am airing the car out (last night and today), but it sure doesn’t seem to be fading quickly. According to the paperwork, this car was made in Freemont in November.
I would welcome any advice you could provide.
Thanks and Happy Holidays
Tesla the great. No any factory can beat you in this world. No matter what enemies do, they will not beat you. You gone ahead of them.
Ryan, regarding climate change, yesterday 'Electrifying Your Wheels' happened in Melbourne. A great place to be to see people are boarding this Train into the Future for a better World
Nice video! Thanks for all the great info.
This is really helpful for first time tesla users,or just bought one
I watched ryans video even tho i dont have tesla, and tesla is not available still in the phillipines
Wow the roads in LA must be wild with everyone going that far over the speed limits!
that checklist is priceless! thanks Ryan!!!
Where is the checklist?

the only complaint I have about the process of buying a tesla, is the call you get to let you know its in but you cant pick up until a delivery is scheduled. Like bro I want my car now dont tease me.
I got my model 3 march 17. and I use the 3D maxpider over the standard Mats
When you first buy a Tesla Model S, and start shaking your head at regret, when a BMW I4 M50 passes you by !
With so many new electric cars catching up to tesla and coming out in the market from major manufacturers, Tesla’s days as a vehicle manufacturer are numbered. Bet they will be in merger talks with some major car manufacturer in the coming years.
Good video. Your channel is the only EV channel I watch anymore.
My delivery date changed from august-October to October 2022 - January 2023.
Model Y black
Yeah me too, ordered black y with tow hitch, no other options, in Sept ‘21, originally had March delivery, then June, then aug-Sept, then Sept-Oct, now back to aug-Sept 21
Same here, ordered Model Y LR standard accessories on Sep 2021 schedule delivery for Mar 2022 and then bumped to June 2022, and now Sept 2022. Geez
Just ordered the 3Dmax floor mats
By the way, I am still watching your videos in am attempt to sell myself the idea of buying a Model 3.
Do your math first $$$$ this can get pricey. Beside the down payment (if giving any) keep in mind that depends on your setup and extra things you will like to get for the M3...add at least a extra 2k.
@@kaimanson3174 What do you drive now?
@@glenhardy4770 2008 Odyssey EX-L, been driving that bad boy for the last 9 years, amazing car. But kids are growing and the extra space is not needed as often as before. Two of my closest friends one has a 22 MYP and the other a 22 M3LR. MYP 0 down payments are near 1k. The other gave 75 hundred down, payments are around 7 hundred and change. They both got it before % went up.
@@kaimanson3174 So you do not drive a Tesla anything, but are warning me about them being pricey. I appreciate your concern. Very much! I know they are a bit high. I am currently driving a Toyota C-HR and have never enjoyed driving it. Many people told me a 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 was garbage but I bought one and love everything about it! I am still hesitant about going from
@@glenhardy4770 yeah, I have done a test drive twice on a RWD, have driven my friend's M3LR. And let me tell you ..you will fall in love pretty quick. Both of my friends got it around March 2022. I was like, hey let me roll the # and payments ended up quite high, with a 0-10% down. (That was my initial warning for you) I may not have one yet, but give it a try, schedule a test drive. It is an amazing car (quite, insanely fast, and really advance) Make sure you have a way to charge it at home and you are all set. If you live in a apartment or rental...that can't make it a little bit challenging.
Step 1: Wait 6 - 8 weeks as promised. Step 2: Call Tesla who tell you to wait another 6 - 8 weeks. Step 3: wait another 6 - 8 weeks. Step 4: Call Tesla who tell you maybe another 8 - 12 weeks. Ordered M3LR November 2021, now told it 'may' be June!
Related to the Time of Use point, definitely a good idea to confirm with your utility provider. I actually found out that this is a new and optional plan in my area. Unfortunately, the increased cost of on peak outweighed the savings from off peak. But at least on the bright side, the standard rate is pretty low, so it wasn’t too much of a bummer :)
Can you explain the off peak on peak sentence you wrote? It’s cheaper for you to charge during the day then night which is off peak??
@@MUFCXI well, in the area I live, there is a utility plan which would allow charging to be cheaper for me at night (during off peak hours). However, in my case, my utility providers “default” rate plan that is in effective all hours of the day was more appealing price wise. Off peak rate was a few cents or so cheaper than the default rate, however on peak rate was closer to 10 cents higher than the default rate in my area. It could be a more viable option in your area, though. It may still be worth checking :)
I had an issue logging into TH-cam. I used my phone number instead and that fixed it.
The estimated delivery for my Model Y is THIS month (with FSD) so this is great timing.
Thanks Ryan for suggesting months ago when to place an order so I hopefully get an Austin made MY, I'll delay if not.
If Tesla assigns you Fremont made you can delay, but I think your car will just wait in a lot until you accept delivery. Then the only way would be canceling your order and placing new one. That what tesla told me. I just received my TMYP Fremont made. It came really good, no issues so far.
great video and thank you for the share with the check list!
Just bought a Model Y LR!!
I made the plunge in February, my order has gone from August to October and I would guess its in for more delays. Astounding how two new super factories are online but deliveries are taking nearly a year.
It will probably change again. I ordered in October and my delivery date went from June to March-April back to June and now April-May.
Step 1: check for defects, and get them fixed by Tesla service center. OK, so that's when things get complicated, right? Put it on a train and ship 1,000 miles to nearest service center?
Tesla has ben in buisness for nearly 2 decades dey hav to get Quality Control fixed ASAP! Unacceptable to pay top dollar for a new car and hav it delivered to you with issues. 1 issue is 1 too many!
Do you have the link for the delivery day checklist? My apologies, but I do not see it.

I cant post it here since my comments with the link keep getting deleted
Best accessories, how to spend the money you no longer have, cause you just bought a Tesla. 😂 I think you just answered my question about a wrap! I hope I can afford to get one, sounds like a good thing to have.
Hi Ryan, thanks for this video as well as all of the others I’ve watched. My Model y is due in September, and I know I’ll be getting some of these accessories. I checked out the delivery checklist, which says it’s for the model 3. Does it work for the Model Y also, or do you have another list for the Model Y?
Quality control and rectification on these vehicles needs to be on point for the customers for now and to hold the customers faith in the product in the future without doubt
Thanks, Ryan. This video was just what I needed. My EDD for my LR Y is in May and I need to know these ins and outs.

Big thanks for the check list........mine will be here in few months but I'm familiarizing myself with key checks...etc. I see you added check mobil charger? Are they still adding those? What’s your recommendations if someone doesn’t own a home, would I be still able to own one ? 🤗
Ryan, small issues aside, do you LOVE the PLAID?
If you wanted a FOB, do you set it up the same way as the card?
Hey Ryan I have a question about the 80% charging rule. Does this apply if you're installing the wall mount charger or only for the less expensive, plug in the wall charger? We're opting for the wall charger, which will be connected directly to our electric box in the basement. Thanks! Also, really enjoying your channel. We take delivery of our 2023 Model 3 in 2 days and your videos have been an invaluable source of knowledge for us so thanks!!!
what is the best way to contact them about minor issues unnoticed upon delivery?
I don’t see a link to the video on things to do *before* taking delivery …
While waiting for your car to be fix will Tesla give you a loaner?
I still can’t figure out how to tell it to stop charging at 4PM and start charging at 9PM. Do you know? The app only shows the start charging setting and then something called the departure time but it doesn’t do what I want.
I'm setting up a 60 amp breaker in my garage for the Tesla charger, so that would mean 48amp charging correct?
Thanks Ryan, very much appreciated.
I just took delivery on my Model 3 LR on Monday (Jan 30). Process was pretty good, but I do have some complaints surrounding the charging cable. I had ordered the mobile charger with the car back on Jan 14 and tracking info says it will be delivered Friday (4 days AFTER delivery). It's one thing to not include the charger but to me it's beyond the pale to not have the charger prior to or at delivery. Is it so hard to have them in stock at the delivery centers?? To make matters worse, the car was delivered with 53% charge. Luckily I'm not going anywhere but jeez.. Other than that, great car so far.

Thanks Ryan, Also in the LA area. Getting my model 3 this month. Do you have any recommendations PPF install in the LA area?
Do you need to purchase any other adapter to charge a Tesla for that split volt charger?
Love your content!
Just curious, Why did you not get a wall charger?
Can the checklist be used for a MY??? TIA
Hi Ryan. After over a year of watching your videos, I finally placed my order for a MYP. I can't recall which video it was mentioned in, but I think you mentioned recommended a company (around Pasadena?) for PPF. Rather than digging through dozens of videos, can you please provide their name again, or if you have an even better recommendation, please lmk (I'm in LA county). I'm already trying to plan out what I need to get done as soon as I take delivery in a few months. Thanks
Ryan, great videos, thanks for all the info. For the phone key to work, the Tesla app must be installed and logged in to correct? Do you and the wife have to have seperate Tesla accounts in order for car to know the difference between your phones, or are both phones logged into the same account and somehow the car knows the difference? Thanks
Random question but are you able to write off some of the cost seeing as you use them for these marketing videos?
Do you have any idea how I can use waz as my default map on my model 3 Tesla?
are you locked in Tesla navigation or can you use apple of google maps?
Due to extenuating circumstances, I had my Tesla delayed til July 31st, which is shown on my Tesla account. What happens when I click on, “I’m ready now”? Am I added to the back of the queue as if I ordered a new car or am I prioritized in the queue?
Hello, I have been greatly enjoying your channel for a long while. Thank you! I have finally ordered mine. They are asking where I want delivery. If I do it at home, and there is a problem, will they still honor the warranty? Do you have a suggestion about where to take delivery?
Ryan, I'm assuming if I'm getting a CyberTruck (some day 😏) dat I won't b needing dat protective film on exterior body correct?
is there anyway to update the Tesla app to where if a single household has multiple vehicles that those specific cars can be accessed from multiple accounts within that same household registered under two different email addresses one Tesla app
Do you have a link to the protective film that you put on your vehicle?
That’s no way to “avoid highways” on the Tesla map system eh?
Thanks for your video
Great list Ryan!
