I had this also with the throttle pot and just removed the assembly from the front of the case for access and just gently bent the 3 tabs and opened the pot. I used a Q tip dipped in Isopropyl and wiped the contacts and tracks, blew them dry and reassembled it. Working fine now. Thanks for the video Allan.

Hi Allan. I picked up a DX6i from a secondhand store. Apparently they thought it a good thing to give it away with 2 channels not working. Glad I didn’t pay for it. The did not know what to do with it so gave it me. Used your video to fix both channels. Now have a fully functioning set. Good to know your video is still helping people

Thanks for this. Mine was doing the same on the throttle.
Followed your directions (but cleaned with ipa sterile wipes) and it works a treat.

Thank you very much for making this video. Saved me time and shipping this transmitter back. I had a stuck rudder, and after removing the pot and cleaning with IPA, the rudder worked again.
Tip: Without removing wiring or internal screws, I was able to pry two of the upper metal clips and was able to take out the PCB board to clean. Then reassemble in reverse.

Got a used dx6i and had the same issue with the rudder. Took the pcb out and cleaned with some perfume spray and wow the rudder is working now as it should be. Thanks OP you legend.

Thanks! I've cracked out my DX6i for the first time in ages and it has this issue with the elevator. I'll be giving procedure a test later today. Thanks to you and the rest of the commentators I feel pretty confident it'll fix it. Yay! I may get a flight in this weekend then. Awesome

Great makes it a lot easier if you don't have to remove the springs nice tip

Yes same here, my Throttle stick had virtually no output at all, i used some 'switch cleaner' spray on a q-tip which lifted the dirt straight off the pot track perfectly, so now all back to normal! NOTE: One thing to add is to make sure you get the Potentiometer back plate lined up exactly as you removed it to make sure full throttle/pitch etc range is maintained. Thanks to you allan smith great video.

Nice! Worked for me. I didn't need to remove the springs. I used Isopropyl alcohol and q-tips (sparing on the alcohol so it didn't drip anywhere) to do the cleaning. Thanks for the tip!

i just had to do this for the first time, easier to pry the 3 tabs open rather than remove the whole assembly

Thanks, this worked for me. Note that I didn't take the tension springs off or retaining clips, I just pried the pcb off and cleaned it while on the sticks still. Also I used q tips with rubbing alcohol instead of windex.
My problem was much worse too, my sticks were completely unresponsive and this fixed it.

Do not use Windex or alcohol to clean your potentiometer. Windex has water in it and alcohol dries it out too much. Use Deoxit 5, a product specifically designed to clean potentiometers. It cleans it a gently lubricates it. It also will not harm the plastic.

Why would you have to remove the pot, just undo the tabs, open, clean and reassemble. I ised contact cleaner, blew it out, done. No q- tips needed.

It should. As long as the potentiometer is the same style and its removable back.
