i found my turkish angora under a car back in 2021 she had a little gray spot on her head but as she grew up it went away shes all white. before i found her i never liked cats, seeing them in the neighborhood roaming the streets looking dirty. but now my prettys kittys grown on me. shes a princess when it comes to my dogs and shes somewhat spicy always putting them in check lol
That’s called a kitten cap! My girl had that too! It was dark grey and covered her head as a baby, and now at 12 you can barely see a few light grey strands.
My Angora is 17 and still healthy and strong, the main thing I like about this breed is that they aren't likely to scratch furniture and destroy things as long as you have some toys (yarn/string is popular) and a scratching post. Also brushing is very important with this breed usually 3 to 4 times per week, I find the small pin style brush works best.
I had a deaf white female a few years ago, was the cutest fluffball ever existed, always sleeping on my lap when I was gaming! had to give away her as I was going away for university... I'm from Ankara
Ive got a turk van who was bred from her calico mum after she mated with a black and white and a tabby at the same time. She's the same colour as an angora on one side and has spectacular perfect circles ,2 black and 1 tan and black and tan markings on her face, she loves me taking her out in the early am and runs when i whistle her, and ran up the highest tree and turned round like a squirrel and ran back down. Id love to know more about her. She has many of the traits of turk vans and she has yellow eyes but she isnt at all cuddly and will only sit beside me when she wants for a short stroke, but she does the best catwalk!
I adopted my Turkish Angora froma shelter and she's an absolute treasure! She's super intelligent and bosses me around all day! I call her my Cat wife!
we adopted a Turkish Angora from a rescue. she had been adopted and returned 2 times before we adopted her. beautiful and very very smart but she is the least affectionate we've ever had. we suspect that the last family who adopted her let their two little girls "play" with her and traumatized the crap out of her until she probably bit and/or scratched them. they them returned her 'cause "allergies"... we still love her and will take care of her forever but man I miss my previous cats who were cuddly lap monsters.
I had the same situation but with time my Angora cat became the most affectionate lap cat ever. And boy she talked, such a sweet voice. She never trusted kids again but I don't have children so it wasn't a big deal.
@@diogeneskoolaid8437We had a similar experience with our Maine Coon but he’d been kicked by his first human’s bf when he trash talked, and then had that experience with 2 prior attempts at rehoming that you describe. He never did cuddle, but eventually would sit next to you for short periods of time, and let his new favorite human pick him up and hold him sometimes.
I got a male turkish angora he treats me like his Grandpa his dad was my first family cat but he loved to be in the streets then he sent his son to me and he loves it here
I always heard and read that Angora cats had medium length fur, and were not double coated. This means that they matt much less than Siberian or Norwegian Forest Cats, Persian Cats, and Maine Coons, which are long haired breeds who are double coated. We have a single haired cat, with those furry paws, and a single, medium length fur coat. (His silky fur doesn't keep him very warm. Which makes sense considering where they come from.) He's doubtless not a pure bred, but as a person who's owned many Forest Cat mixes, it's nice not to have to deal with matting. I'm pretty sure our Louie is an Angora, at least in part. Several of the cats shown in this video were obviously not Angoras - one was clearly a Persian, with that smunched-in face. Angoras do not have those. Our lovely Louie is black, not white, and many Angoras are black. I'm not sure where your information comes from, but it sure varies with some of mine. One thing you got right is that they are very, very smart. Louie fetches, and likes any kind of challenge. He's very affectionate, getting his cuddle time, but also wants his me time. He lets us know when he wants to play and when he wants to be petted. He's got me trained very well.
