Very nice work you guys are doing for FPV fixed wing RC......Finally a pan tilt that isn't wonky and I've had all of them.....Ill be ordering the BAG this week.....beautiful design .......looking forward to setting it up in my EDF......TY4 your videos...Lee
Thank you Lee! I don’t understand why all the dedicated FPV planes look funny. When all the beautiful warbirds and EDF jets can just as well be flown with FPV with tons more realism. My gimbal aims to make those conversion much easier. Please also check out our team videos: @BlackStar FPV Demo Team
Beautiful guys. Smooth scale flight is the way to good formations. Please do get some smoke. It will be such a blast. And even open door to more awsome tricks. We should do fpv airshows very soon.
Thanks Flybeard! It’s a crystallization of AussieHoppy’s and my many years of FPV experience to come up with this compact and vibration damping design. And it took several revisions to get the tooling tolerances perfectly, thus the long delay. Glad you appreciate it!
Flybeard depending on user preference, camera can be installed to have some lens swing (to get some side to side displacement to look around seat back for instance); or minimal displacement (to have lens almost on top of pan pivot eg. for tight canopy).
@@motionsic awesome ive been flying quads for a long time and now i fly a year planes too. I will try it too with a headtracker and my dji setup. Where do you get the pan tilt gimbal? Got you a stl print file? Will be awesome

Same scale as the jets would be nearly impossible to see. I did one with real trucks on bridge, it’s just barely visible on camera: check it out: th-cam.com/video/5luzyyPXMUA/w-d-xo.html

I flew my aeroscout today. It was my first fixed wing RC flight. I enjoyed it but didn't like safe select(even on lowest level) preventing my full control of the aircraft. I beat my experienced RC friend in a dogfight no problem. I can't wait to start flying fighter planes.
Good to hear! Take the time to sharpen formation skills. It would help to prevent collisions in dogfight. Website will be ready to order my pan & tilt in another week with product delivery shortly after. Have fun!
280° pan with camera field of 110° allows one to see all the way to vertical tail, ie. Check six o’clock for bogies. Most servos only have 90-120° range. There are some that offer 180°. 280° allows 360° viewing with camera field of view. They are also, digital, metal gear, ball bearing, metal case - for heat dissipation, all for durability and precision - identical to this except with increased range: www.savoxusa.com/products/savsh0257mg-micro-digital-mg-servo-09-30#technical-details
When I was flight training in full scale Cessna, my instructor would tell me to position yoke to “climb into” or “dive away” from the wind, to keep the upwind wing from being lifted from underneath. Certainly worth putting into practice on lightly loaded planes firmly on the ground in windy conditions.
What do you recommend for DJI goggle accessories? What kind of headstrap and/or goggle padding do you suggest for me to get? What kind of transmitter lanyard/neck straps do you like?
I use stock headstrap and padding. They work fine. I like the gap the stock padding has with my face at bottom. So I can look at my throttle stick to check power setting. I sit down while flying FPV. So don’t use lanyard/neck straps for TX. When I fly LOS, just use stock ones that come with TX.
successfully flew the bf 109 like a total boss and did many tricks and flew 3 feet off the ground with low high speed passes while my nervous spectators/friends watched
I am having issues with the aeroscout. The throttle is working iffy. The throttle starts working at around 50% but works at full proportional control(compressed). Any idea on how to reset or calibrate the throttle?(using a spektrum Dx8e transmitter)
Turn on TX and push throttle to full forward (make sure throttle cut is not engaged), have your model restrained (just in case), plug in model battery. Wait for a few beeps to finish then pull throttle stick all the way down. Then a series of beeps will sound to signal throttle is calibrated and armed. That’s it!
That plane has unusually long wings and a small fuselage given the wingspan. It is really at the borderline for being too small to install head-tracking DJI FPV. Given the cockpit location, you may have to add nose weight to balance CG as well. Not a particularly good candidate for HT FPV.
@@motionsic I was thinking the same thing and noticed that it seems that the cockpit is not naturally accessed. I would have loved having that type of model though simply because of the sleek fuselage and aerodynamics. I don't like the earlier FW-190 simply because those radial engine bodies are not as aerodynamic because of their larger/bulkier front ends.
You can still install the gimbal easily with the wing removed, to tighten nuts from underneath to secure gimbal platform. I actually prefer this type of installation, so you don’t mess with servo wires in the way every time you open battery hatch to change battery. You just need to find space to air unit and figure out cooling.
@@motionsic I didn't notice that it mentioned something at the end of the video until after I typed the message. Thanks for telling me. You live in the states right?

Very Nice Rob! Love the new logo!..Waiting for that new gimbal!

That little teaser at the end looked like a very polished product. I like how you got the camera to rotate instead of swing.
Flybeard depending on user preference, camera can be installed to have some lens swing (to get some side to side displacement to look around seat back for instance); or minimal displacement (to have lens almost on top of pan pivot eg. for tight canopy).
From the ground this must look super precise and close as you would never achieve while steering it from there...
Indeed! That’s the motivation for me to pursue head-tracking FPV, to fly close formation - it would never be as safe piloting from the ground view.
Felicitaciones 🍾 impresionante 🤩

Hi! That is the smart and very actual idea to fly FPV on EDF. Do you fly without glass cockpit? What about drag?
Hardly noticeable, we fly at around 50~60 mph for formation work. Still get 8 minute flight time at 50% throttle with 6S 6000 battery.
Wow, "brutaaal" ...! ⭐⭐😍⭐⭐
Thanks Colonel😄!

I like to use full elevator pitch up when I taxi in the simulators to prevent wing-rock. I wonder if this works in real life physics.
When I was flight training in full scale Cessna, my instructor would tell me to position yoke to “climb into” or “dive away” from the wind, to keep the upwind wing from being lifted from underneath. I was wondering if you knew any way to track your aircraft in case you lose it to recover anything that can be salvaged in case of a crash(GPS)?
I fly within club field boundaries so fairly confined area. So I have not fitted GPS yet.
@@motionsic Oh so you plan on putting a tracker gps on your planes in the future then?
@@larsulrich3356 perhaps, feeling a need to figure out INAV, airspeed, GPS, OSD, etc.
Is your view on your goggles that clear or is this from a different camera ?
Yes. My view in goggles is as clear as in this video.
Would you recommend 2 check six servos or do I just need one?
The gimbals come already with them installed! Are you building your own gimbal? If so just one check-six servo for pan is enough.
@@motionsic No? I was just wondering if i would get better range of motion or degrees with getting 2 check six servos instead of one?
Is it enough to fly 25mw?
No. Not enough, we normally fly 700mw.

Do you think you could mount an FPV system in the FlightLine RC Ta 152H 1300mm Wingspan?(FW190)
